no but, seriously people who try to say that its stupid to label something like orchid as something different than, say, fugazi is mad retarded. screamo's a label like melodic death metal, it's useful as hell when people are looking for recommendations.

for instance, if someone says, i'm looking for emo bands like chune, you wouldn't recommend them score one for safety. conversely if someone's like, i'm looking for screamo bands like score one for safety, you wouldn't recommend them chune. note that the use of screamo would imply bands along the line of sofs while emo might imply bands like chune to people.

ctts are phenomenal, or at least "as the roots undo" is

i'm not saying theyre the best emo band there is or ever was or anything, but that album is 100% solid from start to end

i like their split with pg. 99 the most of all their material.

i finally listened to Rites of Spring and Embrace, theyre both really good, but moss icon is so much better

but both emo and screamo has evolved a lot. there's a difference between I Would Set Myself on Fire for You and uh Swing Kids, just like there's a difference between Rites of Spring and Mineral. but still there's no denying that the first two are screamo and the latter two emo.
