Riva...your avatar is so...awesome.
I haven't heard the album yet. Reccomend any songs in particular?
The title track, The Blue, This Heaven and Smile are my favorite songs off the album. |
Thanks. I'll be sure to check them out.

To Med: It almost happend. So close. Gilmour said yes to doing a reunion for a show and Wright said no. I guess he still has strong feelings about Roger throwing him out of the band.
I was suprised that Gilmour agreed to a reunion show, after his response to Roger after Live8.
Nick Mason is playing some dates with Roger Waters, and Rick Wright is touring with Dave Gilmour at the moment. No three members of Pink Floyd are playing as a group though, which is sad. I doubt that Rick Wright will appear with Waters short of a full-scale Floyd reunion, and Mason playing in a group with Wright and Gilmour is also probably unlikely as it would basically be the post-1984 version of Pink Floyd.
What a thing to see that would be. |
Thanks. I'll be sure to check them out.
Check out Where We Start also, it's my favorite at the moment. I would love to see an '84 version Floyd reunion, it's possible I guess. |
i saw gilmour on april 4., in the 100-200 seat area. 170 dollars(!!), but definately worth it. im going to the sep12 waters show. i didnt think that wright would be there, because the kid that told me that asked if i thought gilmour would show up. oh well. does anyone know if nick mason will be at the sep 12 show?
|
I find irony in Pink Floyd memebers touring. Although I think they would get angry at each other on tour, would it kill them to get together and play 12 huge cities across the world.
I remember hearing them say how that they won't tour, because of what it takes out of you.. And they're touring! |
i just found this...
"Roger Waters will perform Pink Floyd Classics on the first part of the show...and the second of the show he will perform the whole of 'The Dark Side of The Moon' in its entirety. Nick Mason and Rick are said to join Roger Waters." here's the site where i found it: http://www.free-tabs.com/news/2006_5_08_roger_waters_to_perform_pink_floyd_and_solo_material_on_new_tour.htm |
What, Wright said no to a reunion between him, Mason and Gilmour for that reason? Because that doesn't make much sense at all, given that they performed together on tours for the two post-Waters Floyd albums. I've never really been clear on why Mason, Wright and Gilmour stopped touring actually, if anyone knows.
They ran out of money, I guess.
Yeah, it would be very good. Particularly so for those people who didn't get to go to Live 8 I guess, but then again I don't really know how that felt. :asshole:
:arsehole: |
They ran out of money, I guess.
Could be. I believe they would actually lose money for everyday they toured for the Division Bell -- No one in Pink Floyd made any money. No idea if that's true.. |

Yep we were at the same show wasn't it amazing? His cover of Dominoes, Echoes and SOYCD were the highlights of the show for me. Also I wouldn't get my hopes up about both Rick and Nick being there. On Roger's official site it says only Nick will be there, and only for 3 or 4 of the shows. Med: Yeah I know I was supprised to hear that too but it would have only been for one show, perhaps one or two songs even at the show. I heard it from a reliable source thats never been wrong before, but there is always a chance it could have been a rumor. I heard Rick said no because he wanted to work on his own album after he was done with Gilmour's tour. But what was it you heard Gilmour said about the Live 8 show that was negitive? I had only heard positive things he said like him emailing Water's saying "I had a lot of fun Rog" |
I wish Waters or Gilmour would come anywhere near North Carolina :sigh:
[SHAMELESS SELF-ADVERTISING LOOK AWAY NOW] This is me playing drums after a month of playing, I figured since I practically co-own this thread with Riva I could post it in here without fear of bans :p Now I just have to worry about the imminent flames. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=E12A845022D9902F P.S. The flangy sound isn't my crappy mic, I put a small phaser effect on in Audacity for shits and giggles. Enjoy! :chug: [/SHAMELESS SELF-ADVERTISING LOOK AWAY NOW] |

Nice Trav.
Even if they tried to do a full scale reunion tour, it'd probably turn into some hugely publicized blow up that would end up making them all look bad. I'd rather them just tour seperately. |
I just got Live at Pompeii, I'm going to watch it later with my dad.
|
I missed out on Gilmour coming here which really pissed me off. Tickets sold out really fast. Waters is coming here in the fall, but I'm not going to even try to get tickets. He's a great songwriter, but he's not much of a singer or bassist anymore. I'd much rather see The Who and Clapton with the money I'll be saving.
|
I watched Pompeii, it's really great. I watched the original version because I heard the director's cut sucked. I love that old-school Floyd.
Why don't people post here anymore? |
Pink floyd is very influential in my music that i make! they are arguably the best band and most original band ever!
I want to know has anyone seen roger waters in concert?? |
I watched Pompeii, it's really great. I watched the original version because I heard the director's cut sucked. I love that old-school Floyd.
The Director's Cut is pretty cool, but I haven't seen the original, so I wouldn't know the difference. Does the original have all the interviews and the making of Dark Side? |

No, it's just the concert. the reviews on Amazon said all that extra stuff messed up the flow of it all. |
I found myself singing along to a Floyd song at work yesterday. I forget which but it was off of DSOTM :)
|

It was still really good, there just wasn't as much concert footage as I would have liked. The interviews are really good, it's probably worth it to get both. |
On my dvd copy of Live At Pompeii (titled as the director's cut) I have both versions of the concert. The original was somewhere in the extras I think. I like the Director's Cut more.

Yeah, that's the version I have. Julia Dream is such a cool song. |
Bump

i'm going to the Rocktober Waters concert in October. I'm very excited
|
Rocktober is in October!?! Alert the internets! :p
I'd like to see Waters or Gilmour, especially with Wright and Mason in tow, but it won't happen I'm sure. Remember A Day is a cool song, I need to give SoS a good listen sometime. |

I hope it was "The Great Gig in the Sky" |
He's a talented fellow if he can sing like Clare Torrey.

I'd be pretty funny if someone was belting that song out at work. |
I'd be pretty funny if someone was belting that song out at work.
That it would. |
Several days without a post in the Pink Floyd thread?! Blasphemy!!
Anyways, I just learned how to play the solo from "Time" today and wow does it sound amazing. Kinda fun playing along with the record. |
I always thought the solo in Time was very underrated in comparison to other Gilmour solos.
|
I always thought the solo in Time was very underrated in comparison to other Gilmour solos.
Time solo's good, but as far as underrated solo's go, I love the one in the 'Fletcher Memorial Home'. |
I love the solo in Time, but I don't think it's underrated. The solo in Any Colour You Like, now that's an underrated masterpiece.

Interesting Gilmour article- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2006/05/28/svgilmour28.xml
He really trashes on the Stones but praises Dylan:). Anyways, it has some great quotes from him on touring, his new album, and other stuff. Great read. Doesn't look like he's a huge fan of touring year after year though. |

Yes, that is a good solo. I think most of The Final Cut is underrated, considering how Not Now John is just as fun and rocky as Free Four. |
I heard that Mason joined Gilmour on his last show of the tour. I think I heard that David Bowie sang "Arnold Layne" at another show.
|
All these great concerts and I miss out on them. :-/
