Confessor is, indeed, good shit.

pate 11-13-2006 06:14 PM

Indeed, Confessor owns.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-14-2006 12:17 AM

I'm a little hesitant in checking out Confessor. To be honest, Technical Doom sounds like it would be pretty gay.
I've been whoring Mouth of the Architect for a long time and no one pays any attention.
I never noticed. :(
Are Novembers Doom any good?
I'm seeing them on the 17th of this month.
I'm mainly going for the support.
Agalloch and Saturnus.
:D

Txus 11-14-2006 10:00 AM

Holy ****. Saturnus are great!

Jondur 11-14-2006 10:26 AM

It's time this thread turned up the doom.

Witchfinder General are reforming! But without Zeeb on Vox.

pate 11-14-2006 11:18 AM

I heard that. Great news.

Jono: I was skeptical as well, but they're really good. The technicality isn't in "dwee dee dee" style riffs. The riffs and drums are slightly more technical than most traditional doom. I would even say it's more trad doom than "technical doom"

Is it a reformation for a tour, or a full-on new material thing?

pate 11-14-2006 11:31 AM

They're starting to write a new album.

Txus 11-14-2006 05:04 PM

New Witchfinder General? Awesome :D
I've been whoring Mouth of the Architect for a long time and no one pays any attention.
I didn't know this.

Sleepy 11-14-2006 06:49 PM

Yay for Witchfinder General. Although they better have a good vocalist to replace Zeeb.

pate 11-14-2006 07:38 PM

Calling all Ozzy soundalikes. Maybe the guy from Sahg would work. :p

Sleepy 11-14-2006 08:19 PM
Calling all Ozzy soundalikes. Maybe the guy from Sahg would work. :p
Hah, he might.

Or WG will go the whole nine yards and draft Ozzy himself. They might even make an album or two before he gets too senile to make anything/dies.

Patrick O))) 11-14-2006 08:40 PM

Him from Mastodon's kinda Ozzylike. Brent Hinds, with the awesome tattoos

pate 11-14-2006 09:49 PM

That was a confusing sentence.

Patrick O))) 11-14-2006 09:52 PM

Correction

TWO confusing sentences

AlienEater 11-15-2006 03:11 PM

Not that confusing, but a fair bit.

Sleepy 11-15-2006 03:25 PM

Awful syntax. ftl

I get the jist (gist?) of it, though.

Kyle 11-15-2006 09:03 PM

So The Melvins are playing in my town next month, I don't really know a lot about them, but I guess I should go.

Downloading Houdini now, if I like it then i'll book tickets.

pate 11-15-2006 09:17 PM

So the other day I found three more Solitude Aeturnus albums. I just finished Into the Depths of Sorrow, and it freaking owns!!1 I guess I shouldn't be so surprised, but I expected the albums other than BTCH and TTDH to be kind of meh.

Sleepy 11-15-2006 09:22 PM

The Melvins are playing here on the 28th, but it's a 21+ show. :(

I'm listening to Frequencies From Planet 10 right now. It's great. :)

ATM 11-15-2006 10:23 PM

Orange Goblin are great :)

I'd like to see them live.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-16-2006 01:45 AM

Witchfinder General reunion? Awesome.

Nah - Into the Depths of Sorrow is great! I also really like Downfall. Adagio isn't as great but still has its moments - also has a fantastic production.

pate 11-16-2006 10:29 AM

Downfall is really, really good, but ITDOS is ****ing amazing. After that post I got the new one, and I would have to say it sucks. :(

Jondur 11-16-2006 10:32 AM

I haven't heard the new one yet. I will get it at some point but I've heard mixed reviews.

pate 11-16-2006 10:40 AM

It seems really toned down. The vocals are mellow, and there aren't as many solos. The end of it is much better than the beginning though.

the2stranger 11-16-2006 02:07 PM

/Whores.

I just posted a review on Ahab - Call Of The Wretched Sea:

Ohhh, some days a go i finally payed close attention to Wormphlegm's Tomb Of The Ancient King and i must say is f'ing good. Its up there as my favorite FD album, along with Not A Gleam Of Hope.

AlienEater 11-16-2006 05:15 PM

Wormphlegm have a funny name.

I'm listening to Floor right now. Anyone else like them.

Nuke Broadcast 11-16-2006 10:57 PM

floor? cant say ive heard anything by them. but Fistula? hells yes.

the2stranger 11-17-2006 05:52 AM

Wormphlegm might have a weird name, but they're great.
Rarely have I heard such insane torture doom/funeral doom.

np:Solitude Aeturnus - Seeds Of The Desolate

AlienEater 11-17-2006 01:50 PM

I know nothing about Funeral Doom.
