How late is The Who show tonight, I'm gonna watch uit du''hh ;)

K the report

first day, ai rrived at heathrow and went to my hostel ... If you cna call it a hostel it was damn ugly but it was really good situated near everything we needed. But we went to the shwo of Roger Waters ...
Well that was great the openerss were all good and Roger Waters was just mind blowing, amazing show, amazing hot weather and just great, DSOTM in t's entirely is just so good, bought a t- shirt there ... But I won't drag to long you wanna know about The Who ...
SO next day some things and The Who, I was in front(So I was with roger waters) and it was great again great openers. But then the who they kicked in and everybody was sining along, oew and almsot forgot, at the openers there were those giant ballons and me and a friend kicked 3 off them on the stage. But back to the who, they openend with can't explain which was great and they plaed all hits, one new song, Mike Post, was also nice, but the fun started during My Generation, the crow went nuts pits everywhere etc etc, and then won't get fooled again ti was fighting to stay at fornt so I couldn't enjoy the show that much, but it was fun in it's own way and all this pitting went trhough to the last song. The Who have a great team and a have a great show I say everyone see what's left of them, you won't regret it. And uhhm bought many cd's, POTC2 premiere was in town and have walked to almost every monument in london. :)

Sounds like a great time, Prince. I watched the gig on thewholive.tv replayed in full, as Pete wanted to make up for something that went wrong during the webcast. Oh, and I was wrong in my above post about the next few shows being played in their entirety for free. Just three or four songs, as I was mistaken but couldn't change or delete my post because of all the site problems the past few days.

I saw some pics of Hyde Park at the Pete website and I like the look of the stage set with the colorful screens. And pits at a Who gig? Fantastic! I to like Mike Post Theme. It's a good song. Mike Post I believe is known for writing musical scores of tv shows focused on middle age. So perhaps Pete is coming to terms with aging. And he did comment on how young the crowd was and how old The Who are at the gig. I think it's great the Who played a festival witha bunch of young bands and can still hold there own, musically and otherwise. And it's great to see people my age and younger embrace them.

Roger Waters I also enjoy. I much prefer Waters Floyd over any other, and The Wall and The Final Cut are among my favorite albums ever. I in fact consider them to be one work. Anyway, sounds like you had a great time at both gigs. Good deal, and it was good to hear back from you....

....thanks.....
I finally got "Who's Next"!. I really like it. All tracks are strong but "My Wife" to me is a filler. "Going Mobile" is cheesy but i really like it. Best tracks IMO are "Water", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Pure and Easy", "The Song is Over", "Bargain" and "Going Mobile". Ive heard enough of "Behind Blue Eyes".
Well, My Wife is an Entwistle tune. I've never heard it as filler, and a live version will definitely change your mind. Going Mobile is exuberant, perhaps even a bit cheesy. But if you get further into The Who you will come to discover they can be quite eccentric (or cheesy) at times. It's just all part of what makes this band go. Glad you're enjoying them.

Who's Next is for noobs :thumb:

heh, just kidding. My Wife is a good song, but I feel its one of Entwistles weaker songs. 905, Trick of the Light, Heaven and Hell, Boris the Spider, Fiddle About are all better.

Lunch 07-06-2006 03:42 PM

I've always liked Success Story too. Heaven and Hell is my favorite Entwistle song though, it's such a monster live.

wanderer 07-06-2006 11:54 PM

You an Quiet One are best song Entwistle did with the Who.....

BTW, Pete played whole AQO with acosutic guitar on ITA....

I like The Quiet One a lot. You, as well. And his stuff is the best thing about It's Hard along with a few Pete cuts. I also like Success Story and Trick Of The Light. I believe that one is his. But My Wife is still my fave. It's funny, and anyone who has ever f'ed up on a chick and has her pissed can relate. And live it just blows everything away. Thanks for the heads up about Pete on ITA....

I really wish they would do away with the "Tommy Encore". They had moved it into the set for a few gigs and I thinks it's better there.

Roger looks mad ugly in that pic.

Entwistle was a terriffic songwriter. His songs were never predictable, and had original chord changed. His black humor is what turns a lot of people of to his songs, but I feel without the quirky-ness they wouldn't be John songs anymore.

I love Success Story. Gotta love the fairy manager.

Plus, that song is in one of the coolest scenes in The Kids Are Alright DVD. I wish I had that many guitars.

Ack! 30 years ago, if you told me he was going to look like that, I would slap you and tell you that you were full of crap.

That's if I was alive 30 years ago...

All this talk of John got me searching on my music service for some of his work and I've been enjoying "Who's The Bass Player: The Ox Anthology and two live albums available only for streaming. One is The King Bisquit Flower Hour Presents John Entwistle and the other is the 24 track "Left For Live" (Deluxe). The anthology set has a whopping 38 songs. :)

And yeah, that black humor comes through. "Peg Leg Peggy", lol. And his studio stuff is interesting. Especially his own versions of the material he wrote for The Who. Heaven And Hell is really different. And his singing voice was thin but pretty good, as a matter of fact.

30 years ago, I'd go gay for Roger.

Dragon_Prince 07-10-2006 03:10 AM

Oh for everyone who watched the hyde park show on the site of the who. Look when the tommy encore starts, the moment when Daltry gets those tamborines, donīt tae your eyes off him, he gets a bottle at his head.

Ephemeral 07-13-2006 09:23 AM

GUYS! GUYS!

The Who just announced a tour date in my city!

OMG
OMG

I'M SO HAPPY OMGOMG

Ephemeral 07-13-2006 09:35 AM

AS I'M TYPING THIS, I'M BLASTING LIVE AT LEEDS THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE HOUSE.

You can hear it clearly from outside. o_0

Broken Arrow 07-13-2006 09:40 AM

Haha.

I just found out they are coming to London Ontario (an hour away) and the presale is in 15 minutes. I'm gonna try to get a ticket so I can go with my cousin.

I too am blasting the LAL!

Lunch 07-13-2006 09:48 AM

Live at Leeds is so good. Really, it's unfair to other albums.

Where are these tour dates? Help!

Broken Arrow 07-13-2006 10:19 AM

Yes! I got my tickets through presale. The seats are pretty far back, but they were $67 oppossed to the $128. Plus who needs to get that close to the Who, they will rock my body from a mile away let alone inside the same arena.

Plus I'm not a major fanboy.

Lunch 07-13-2006 10:30 AM

Damnit they aren't coming anywhere that close to me. And I'm going to be in the college so it will be hard for me to find a time to go. Why couldn't they just tour America in the summer like everyone else.

Broken Arrow 07-13-2006 11:16 AM

That's why I'm glad. They are going to Toronto and London. if they were going to Toronto I wouldn't go because it's like 3/3.5 hours from here and I'd have to stay the night and go with my family and all that jazz.

But since they are coming to London a 1.5/2 hour drive where they are playing a smaller venue and I have relatives there too. So My cousin (also 16) and I are gonna go. Should be a good time.

Also London is September the 30th whereas Toronto would be December the 4th.

How can they not play Baltimore or DC?

JohnXDoesn't 07-13-2006 01:47 PM

Still many more dates to be announced. Although the above schedule looks tight, this is a 15 month tour. We'll do some checking around. Maybe a bit of complaining at the new site if that board gets up and running:

They didn't play Holland too ;) and many other countries

Lunch 07-13-2006 01:51 PM

I'm like 2.5 hours from Philly.

Because who cares about Holland? This is America we're talking about, and the nation capital at that.

That explains it. Where Bush is, The Who shall not be. :(

Lunch 07-13-2006 01:59 PM

Valid point. What about Baltimore though? Or even Detroit, which is near enough to U of Michigan (where I'm going to college).
