Whoa. Wowee Zowee just clicked, after 3 days of me going "What?" on about half the tracks. (Yeah, I picked up the sordid sentinels edition)

Wowee Zowee!
Soft Cell - Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret

This is so cool. I expected the production to be really weak and tinny for some reason, but it actually sounds great. All these songs should be played on a dark subway full of naked people.
you mean the Tainted Love band (it's a cover but yeah) ??

JonM 11-13-2006 10:12 AM

Yes I. If you like Buju's more rasta period ('Til Shiloh) check out Fantan Mojah, too. Though I don't like either as much as Buju's new record.

ATM 11-13-2006 10:18 AM

Will do, have you ever listened to Rasco?

mr_jackalope 11-13-2006 11:14 AM

Suicaine Gratification is his one great solo record.
Zappa 11-13-2006 06:06 PM

Listening to Endtroducing for the first time in probably 2 years. And hey, this is actually really good.

Jacaranda 11-13-2006 06:12 PM
Portrait of a Legend is pretty much the best collection of songs ever assembled.
go for that for sure.

Eliminator 11-13-2006 06:57 PM

I got all 3 albums on slsk. hit me up

JonM 11-13-2006 10:19 PM

Holy shit. I don't want to be a Pitchfork whore or anything, but Joanna Newsom's a fucking G. I hated her last album, but now I think she might be a genius.

Eliminator 11-13-2006 10:20 PM

she is a genius.

and i'm going to marry her.

if it weren't for age differences.

ATM 11-13-2006 10:22 PM

What kind of music?

Eliminator 11-13-2006 10:23 PM

folky

she plays the harp and sings

kind of a different voice. she sounds like she's really young

her first album is more song-based and, second album is kind of like a short story with longer songs, only 5

just noticed the pitchfork review. i thought it came out like a week ago. i'm going to choose not to read it. i dunno why.

Anxious 11-13-2006 10:28 PM

I Hate Myself - 10 Songs

Zebra 11-13-2006 10:32 PM

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

If this wasn't so long then it would be much, much better.

mr_jackalope 11-13-2006 11:06 PM

I was just coming here to say this. I, conincidently, listened to this album for the first time this morning because I had it laying on my desk and was knocked backwards. I thought her first was a little out there, but I'm thinking this might be a damn perfect album.

"Sawdust & Diamonds" is jaw-droppingly, earth-shatteringly, year-makingly good. I'm certain that this one will take up most of my week.

JonM 11-13-2006 11:13 PM
just noticed the pitchfork review. i thought it came out like a week ago. i'm going to choose not to read it. i dunno why.
It's a pretty glowing review, dude. 9.4.
I'm certain that this one take up most of my week.
Yeah, man. I'm gonna listen to this a bunch of times this week.

Kayetan 11-13-2006 11:22 PM

I'm going to start listening to Ys some more. I remember when I first listened to it about a month ago, I was absolutely stunned, so I'm going to see if it's still as good as I thought it was.

Also, The Robot Ate Me- Carousel Waltz

This guy is cool.

pixiesfanyo 11-14-2006 01:28 AM

Joanna Newsom, I have this album. It's pretty good.

Flying Lotus - 1983

This is seriously one of the best releases of the year..

I expect all you ******s too check it out when i blog it.

asymm 11-14-2006 02:49 AM

Pavement - Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinals Edition
Arrived a week late. Worth the wait at least.

Zmev 11-14-2006 03:33 AM

Trail of Dead - So Divided

I didn't wanna believe it, but its true. This is a bombastic piece of crap.

Eliminator 11-14-2006 05:35 AM
It's a pretty glowing review, dude. 9.4.

Yeah, man. I'm gonna listen to this a bunch of times this week.
yeah i read the review

but a 9.4 jeez it could be higher

i have this radio show performance/interview she did. it's pretty interesting, moreso in her talking than the music which i sbasically just a few songs from the milk-eyed mender

br3ad_man 11-14-2006 09:43 AM

I got the Joanna Newsom album today as a result of my English teacher recommending her and I remembered Nacho said something good about her a while ago.

AlienEater 11-14-2006 12:25 PM

Your English teacher?

I may get Ys. It sounds cool.

I have been digging Savage Republic today.

asymm 11-14-2006 01:15 PM

My Ys preorder is delayed. Insound has been letting me down recently. I always resisted listening to the leak, because I knew ahead of time that I was going to buy it. Oh well.

Still, Pavement - Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinals Edition
