I also heard a number of songs from assorted albums but heard nothing that could keep my interest.
Their live stuff is really far superior to the majority of the studio material, in my opinion.

Illmatic 12-03-2004 05:52 PM

I realized that early on, and tried to listen to some live stuff, but I just didn't like it.

thickasabrick 12-03-2004 05:55 PM

i've only heard a couple songs by the Grateful Dead, and i too have realized that their live stuff is amazing. thats what jam bands are all about, is their live show.

SkaRobotArmy 12-03-2004 05:55 PM
I have 18 albums from pink floyd
why? a guy i know went out and bought every ad/hd album in one day which is ridiculous because most of them have the same songs over and over

What are you talking about?

Ah, I tried so hard to get to their shows when they came to Colorado, but I couldn't make it. I was pissed.

i would say it is worth it. some albums do have some of the same songs, but pink floyd wasn't really like that, except for their compilations of course. who is ad/hd by the way? never heard of them.

ac/dc's hyperactive cousin?

Illmatic 12-03-2004 05:59 PM

He's the guy who said:
Neil Young and Rush are about the only only classic rock i listen to, i get bored with most like the beatles and led zeppelin, because the songs are bland and lack energy, especially the beatles, Yes though, is the worst of them all, with many songs pushing the 10 minute mark but only about 2 or 3 minutes of actual song. I also greatly dislike the 'classic' rock culture if i may call it that, 90% of the people who listen to it will always just assume its better because they think its more talented or more influential, personally i dont care whether or not a band is talented, solos to me are not the climactic part of the song, sure the odd one is enjoyable but 2-3 minutes of some hippy playing guitar real fast just doesnt impress me...
I'd choose to ignore him.

jpj 12-03-2004 05:59 PM

It took me awhile to get into The Grateful Dead, and I'm still not a fan of American Beauty, but pretty much everything else I've heard I like. Also, Zappa is very good, but the Dead are better.

I agree with you on this one.

Illmatic 12-03-2004 06:00 PM

Glad we can agree to something.

(no sarcasm)

SkaRobotArmy 12-03-2004 06:00 PM

yep, like i said, i dont agree with your musical tastes and therefore my opinions are irrelevent and thank you very much for proving my point, ad/hd=ac/dc

i have a zappa album, as well as a few songs on the computer. i think his music was very creative, and his lyrics were amusing. he seemed like a very smart guy, but some of his songs are kinda hard to listen to because he takes them a little too over the top.

magicbus 12-03-2004 06:01 PM
not to judge it or anything i appreciate them as artists but that just is not my type of music
Good statement. I detect no ignorance here. And I love Floyd too.

Are you trying to inspire sympathy? Because if you know your point is irrelevant then why do you keep posting in here?

Well, no, it's that you're an idiot.

That's one thing I like about him, his lyrics can be pretty funny.

That's what turns him off to many people. He was a brilliant man, but also a goofy bastard.

(its because he used to be a huge rap fan, his msn was recently changed to hippy93 from bonethugz)

im not a fan of rap, but i still think it takes talent. i definitely can't talk that fast, and i find eminem's songs funny.

thickasabrick 12-03-2004 06:08 PM

did you guys know that the Suzy Creamcheese that Zappa sang about was an actual groupie with that nickname? i wouldnt' go anywhere near a girl if her nickname was creamcheese. in my morrison biography it said he often turned to her for a last resort on sex.

Illmatic 12-03-2004 06:11 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Woodstock 12-03-2004 06:13 PM

You'd think his last resort would be a little lower than that, like any inanimate object.

thickasabrick 12-03-2004 06:14 PM
You'd think his last resort would be a little lower than that, like any inanimate object.
ya but lots of people (guys and girls) wanted to have sex with jim morrison. it wasn't until he was overweight and nearing his death did he have to actually search out sex. plus he could barely get it up cuz he was always drunk and messed up on drugs.

magicbus 12-03-2004 06:14 PM

But he's like the sex king. So his lowest resorts are still people. Wait Morrison or Zappa?

Woodstock 12-03-2004 06:15 PM

Morrison.

Badmoon 12-03-2004 06:37 PM

I like a lot of Frank Zappa's music. However, I do believe he is a very arrogant and bitter person.

magicbus 12-03-2004 06:44 PM
Morrison.
Yea definently a sex king.

gmoneyguy 12-03-2004 06:46 PM

I have yet to hear some Zappa.

jpj 12-03-2004 06:47 PM

He's on the site, in fact I think I'm gonna take a break from Mule and listen to him.
