It's all improvised, which I am sure you can tell

I asked my sister what to make a song about, and she yelled downstairs "Bea Arthur from Golden Girls" so I just went with it

Then she came down and started singing even though she is almost as horrendous as I am
The guitar part at the beginning reminded me of "Coconut" by Harry Nilsson. You know, the theme song for Lime Coca-Cola, and the song at the end of Reservoir Dogs.

Little Man being Erased 08-03-2005 05:15 PM

JonM, that song you posted yesterday was very good. I liked.

Yeah, I finally was able to give your song a listen earlier today, JonM, and it's very good. Keep us updated on other material you record.

ATM 08-03-2005 05:21 PM

Go to those for sure.

I really really want to see Del.

Interstate 08-03-2005 05:48 PM

Your shows are so cheap compared to the UK. I'd go to the Nada Surf, Gang Of Four, Decemberists and Wrens ones if you could afford all of them.

Little Man being Erased 08-03-2005 05:49 PM

Fuck! The fact that you have that many options is ridiculous.

I would see: Hieroglyphics, Decemberists, Gang of Four, Nada Surf.

I'd want to see these, but I don't think I could afford it. I've already seen New York Dolls and Devo(both do not disappoint), and I'll be seeing the Decemberists in September probably. What kind of budget do you have when it comes to shows? How much are you willing to spend?

I live very close to DC so I get a chance to see tons of bands for cheap.

You gotta see Del.

Hmm I don't have very much money, but I have 2 job interviews tomorow so hopefully that will change.

The NPC 08-03-2005 05:51 PM

New York Dolls, Gang of Four, and Devo would be worth while. SD might be something just to watch for a good time.

JonM 08-03-2005 06:44 PM

Thanks for listening, guys. I'm glad you liked it. The one we're working on now is pretty different, but I like it a lot. Hopefully you will, too.

ATM 08-03-2005 06:44 PM

Jon, thoughts on Dandy Warhols? :)

Electrocution 08-03-2005 06:49 PM
I'm glad it worked out. I did that in eighth grade.

Oooooh. I just realized how bitchy that sounded. I only stated that I had your haircut in eighth grade as an objective fact, not as a maturity comment. I looked like this this year, so I'm really in no place to judge, anyway.
I enjoy your nipple hair.
Jon, thoughts on Dandy Warhols? :)
I really liked it! I said so, but maybe it got buried in the YSI thread. It might have been here, too, who knows? It went all kinds of directions I didn't expect after the first track, which I liked, so promptly I just had all kinds of different ways to like it. I'd really like to hear more.

I can upload my favorite album from them later.

JonM 08-03-2005 06:57 PM

Oh yay!

I'm uploading Quas again, in case you didn't see.

JonM 08-03-2005 07:21 PM

Hey Zappa/Parfait/b00b, would you be willing to upload some of your fusion jazzy stuff like you were talking about? I know you hate YSI, but the thing you just described and other stuff you've mentioned sounds really fascinating to me. I don't listen to much obscure jazz. I'm pretty well versed in stuff that everybody has heard of, but I really want to get further out there.

Dog 08-03-2005 07:26 PM

If Zappa isn't up for it, ask TalkingHead(whenever he get's back) to do it. I know that he has a lot of jazz fusion stuff. He uploaded quite a few albums from the genre earlier in the YSI thread and I downloaded all of them. Good stuff. I'd up' them for you, but they're stored on another harddrive.

JonM 08-03-2005 07:27 PM

Good to know. I really missed out on the beginning of that thread.

Glitterati 08-03-2005 08:18 PM

I was thinking about Jon's idea for the AIM thing, and I realized I still use MSN. I was thinking getting AIM recently, can anyone tell me

a) What it's like
b) Does it cost anything

Anything else you think anyone who has never used it should know.

Zappa 08-03-2005 08:18 PM

I'm actually most likely not your man for fusion. I like very little of it.

I'll consider uploading Eternal Rhythm, if that's yoru request.

I would love it. I will provide you with a detailed analysis to prove that I'm not just a music whore.

It's free, absolutely intuitive, and stable. There's a reason why so many people use it, believe me.

It doesn't cost anything, and it's extremely easy to use.
