Hahahaha, dude, Gnarls Barkley was seriously the gayest thing I've ever heard. My friend made me download a song and it was god awful. No offense to you or anything, I just think Gnarls Barkley is gay.
best post ever amirite

Ornery Cephalopod 05-16-2006 04:36 PM

Beulah
Clutch
Rwake
QotSA

I like when my band names fit neatly into a block formation.

Glitterati 05-16-2006 04:40 PM

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

I'm too poor right now to afford their new album, so I'll just rock out to this this sunny afternoon.

Happymeal 05-16-2006 04:55 PM

MF Doom
Frodus
Panthers
Hot Snakes

My friend got me into Frodus, who play "pseudo-emo post-hardcore punk". They're not at all mindblowing but I hear some NoU influences here and there, which is good enough for me.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 06:59 PM

Joy Division - Closer

Still don't really like this album very much. It's OK, I guess.

BillCosby 05-16-2006 07:01 PM

I'm liking the Kooks more than I expected to.

sr800bkBassist 05-16-2006 07:03 PM

Flaming Lips- "Hit to Death in the Future Head"
disgustingly underrated. why doesn't anybody ever talk about this?
it's so cool, you can tell it's the Flaming Lips, but the style is wayyyy out there. like loud, noisy, distorted and fuzzy crazy psychedelic punk, with all the fun melodies that make the Lips who they are.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 07:06 PM
Yeah that's my opinion of Closer too.
Is Unknown Pleasures better?

pixiesfanyo 05-16-2006 07:14 PM

Modern Life is War - Witness

Probably one of the most emotional albums I've ever listened too.

Kurtz 05-16-2006 07:21 PM

Girl Talk

this is the shit

BillCosby 05-16-2006 07:22 PM

That album is pretty awesome.

Modern Life is War, that is, though Girl Talk probably is too.

Jacaranda 05-16-2006 08:25 PM

Pulp - Different Class

Just reminds me I still need to check out This Is Hardcore.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 08:28 PM
Just reminds me I still need to check out This Is Hardcore.
Yeah me too. I should have a nice new copy of His 'n' Hers waiting for me when I get home tomorrow. :)

Robert Crumb 05-16-2006 08:38 PM

Chico Buarque - Construção

Very cool album so far, my first listen. Appropriately relaxed and bouncy. Also, I meant to give that Girl Talk thing a listen today while I was at school, but I forgot. Tomorrow then.

Edit: Not really bouncy. I'm not sure what the adjective I'm looking for is.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 08:42 PM

The Von Bondies - Pawn Shoppe Heart
The Cure - Disintegration

The Great Decay 05-16-2006 08:55 PM

Elliott Smith
Nick Drake
Jeff Buckley
Radiohead
Neutral Milk Hotel

Luxor 05-16-2006 09:14 PM
Modern Life is War - Witness

Probably one of the most emotional albums I've ever listened too.
Witness is better than My Love, My Way.. but the first 7" owns them both.

Daniel! 05-16-2006 11:06 PM

The Phantom Surfers - 18 Deadly Ones
Various Artists - Toes On the Nose

And I'm downloading a Ventures album right now that I shall hopefully be digging soon.

Zmev 05-16-2006 11:29 PM
Is Unknown Pleasures better?
Oh my God yes.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 11:39 PM

Well I might give either that or Substance a go, before I completely dismiss Joy Division.

Zmev 05-16-2006 11:40 PM

Go with Unknown Pleasures

br3ad_man 05-17-2006 01:42 AM

New Order are just way better. But Substance owns Closer.
My friend got me into Frodus, who play "pseudo-emo post-hardcore punk". They're not at all mindblowing but I hear some NoU influences here and there, which is good enough for me.
Frodus are a cool band.
disgustingly underrated. why doesn't anybody ever talk about this?
I do.

Zmev 05-17-2006 02:20 AM

Cut Chemist - Rare Equations
Manic Street Preachers - Forever Delayed

br3ad_man 05-17-2006 06:07 AM

After about two and a half years, I'm finally starting to dig Surfer Rosa. Everything up to "Where Is My Mind??" is gold so far. I guess some records just eventually click. I think my favourite songs are the shorter ones, like "Broken Face" and "Something Against You".

Zebra 05-17-2006 06:16 AM

Oingo Boingo - Only a Lad

My favorite new-wave/post-punk album of the 80's. Elfman is a genius.

asymm 05-17-2006 09:56 AM

My Bloody Valentine - Glider EP
Yo La Tengo - Summer Sun

Robert Crumb 05-17-2006 11:34 AM

Chico Buarque - Construção still. This album is fucking awesome. Creepier sounding than you'd expect. Especially the title track. The one thing I always wonder as I listen to male Brazilian singers, though, is why do they all sing through their nose? It doesn't bother me, but I mean, almost every one of 'em.

asymm 05-17-2006 02:02 PM

Sonic Youth - Bad Moon Rising
I'm loving these dark, broken '80s Sonic Youth sounds. It's quite brooding and strong. Excellent record.

Little Man being Erased 05-17-2006 02:38 PM

NoMeansNo - Wrong

Glitterati 05-17-2006 03:42 PM

Brian Eno - Ambient 1: Music For Airports
