anyways this would be a good time to change topics.
make a list of YOUR top 5 death metal albums. mine: 1.Cryptopsy - none so vile (stereotypical, but the genius is undeniable) 2.Psycroptic - The Scepter of the Ancients 3.Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin (love me some melo death) 4.Death - Human 5. In Flames - The Jester Race 6. Death - The Sound of Perseverance (yeah i know this makes 6. honorable mention)
awful |
that's great that you think that, but instead why don't you tell me your top 5
|
Wait maybe he meant bottom 5?
EDIT: Maybe not... |
You would love them
their myspace songs are average. pretty much sounds generic |
Wait maybe he meant bottom 5?
EDIT: Maybe not...
if those would make your bottom 5, then i'd LOVE to see your top 5 so i can hear them for myself. i'm always open to new artists |
that's great that you think that, but instead why don't you tell me your top 5
at the gates - the red in the sky is ours deicide - legion morbid angel - altars of madness sepultura - morbid visions possessed - seven churches in no order |
scrap possessed - none live up to the other 4
|
idk my top 5 would be
Immolation - Close to a World Below Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Stream Death - Leprosy Incantation - Onward to Golgotha Gorguts - The Erosion of Sanity idk though |
at the gates - the red in the sky is ours
deicide - legion morbid angel - altars of madness sepultura - morbid visions possessed - seven churches in no order
i don't see how my top 5 are awful compared to this. i'm not saying these aren't all awesome, but my favorites aren't that bad in comparison. it's too bad At the Gates aren't still around. pretty amazing band i would actually probably replace one of mine with Anata - The Conductor's Departure. |

i would actually probably replace one of mine with Anata - The Conductor's Departure.
they are - half of them arn't even death metal and stuff like in flames and arch enemy is just trendy rubbish that'll be forgotten when people are onto the next trend whilst stuff like legion and altars of madness will be remembered for far longer |

hmmm cryptopsy isn't really death metal anymore, but None so vile was for sure. Psycroptic are definitely death metal. heavily influenced by Suffocation ironically. Arch Enemy are trendy but they are still melodic death metal that you are right about and prolly wont be remembered but i still love that album. now that i think about it i'd replace it with Anata. Death is ummm Death. they are death metal. IN Flames sucks now, but they used to be some good melodic death metal. that makes 5 death metal albums |

Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin is not death metal In Flames - The Jester Race is not death metal Death - The Sound of Perseverance is not death mtal =3 = 6/2 |
to be fair i put The Sound of Perseverance as #6, so yeah. Human was definitely death metal. and weather or not you recognize melo-death as death metal shouldn't really distract from the fact that they are a sub-genre of death metal. fine i'll replace Arch enemy with Anata and IN Flames with morbid angel's altars of madness. good pick on that one
|
was sepultura really death metal back in the days
the only thing i've listened to is roots bloody roots and idk thats more groove metal or something latin fusion metal |
the only albums i've heard from them are Beneath the Remains and Chaos A.D. and they are both Thrash metal
|

no theyre deathcore now get your sh!t straight
oh sorry i forgot who i was talking to, telling mappy to get something straight lol |
niggaaaa
i alwayz chuckle when people say DIS AINT DETH METTLE, IT BE DETHCORE |
didnt you know that clean singing is a pivotal part of hardcore D00D
|
oh good point bro
cause hardcore is just the answer to nu-metal |
its basically nu-metals retarded gay nephew
|
what a retarded gay new genre
|
and weather or not you recognize melo-death as death metal shouldn't really distract from the fact that they are a sub-genre of death metal.
that doesn't really make sense... i don't consider melo-death a subgenre of death metal - it is influences from death metal and may even have evolved from death metal but the similarities are shallow. most melo-death is speed metal with wimpy death metal vocals |
yeah whoever thought about adding breakdowns to death metal must have been retarded gay
edit: and whoever thought about adding clean singing to melodeath - which is what hardcore is, btw - mustve been adopted |
yeah son dropping knowledge
|
i don't consider melo-death a subgenre of death metal
some is some isn't |
yeah nothing's clear cut in defining genres and stuff like amon amarth is death metal, but much of what is seen as definitive melo-death isn't death metal
|
I've seen them live at least 5 times. They were the first band with harsh vocals I ever heard.
Are they still together? I heard they broke up like last year.
I dunno. I somehow gained possession of a demo by them. I used to live 'part-time' in the area while my girl was still at school there. No idea if the band's still together. I'm just really surprised that people know about 'em. Their stuff sounds like a Death/Sludge hybrid. And, I thought that was a pretty original direction. I really thought they were gunna blow up. |
oh god
so death metal
sounds like stuff for kids who 5 years ago worshiped korn but now think they're metal |
Mappy is in Bleeding Through?
|
Wouldn't surprise me.
|
sounds like stuff for kids who 5 years ago worshiped korn but now think they're metal
It technically is. Or was. 5 years ago they worshipped this band and now they think they're death metal cause they like As Blood Runs Black. srsly its 2008 get with the times brah |

I have one of their albums and the songs where they try to sound like straight death metal are pretty weak but the other songs are good. Pretty original stuff for sure. I'm actually really surprised they didn't get more popular than they were. |
Bought my tickets for Summer Slaughter, I'm told there's a lot of hardcore dancing at most of the dates. :upset:
