Well of course it's up to you what you practise, but if you want to get good at it and become able to play them all, you need to practise them all.
i have only 22frets and i hate it... does anyonw know how's the access to the 24th fret on Jacksons? especially the DXMG or a MG serie in general?

ähm, Mitch i started to play guitar again :p and practise your sweep shapes....

you roll over the index right? i hate it :p
I have a DXMG. The access isn't good. I have to use my ring finger and angle my hand. It would be nice if it had a cutaway but it doesnt. It's not too horribly unbearable because I don't use the 24th much, but it can get a little annoying.

I learned parts of Follow the Reaper today at guitar lessons. I had to listen to the stupid voice intro thing at least 10 times.

The Sandman 06-27-2006 10:17 PM

So you nailed the growls yet, Julianne?

Has anyone heard of Wicked Wisdom?

It features Will Smiths wife on the mic, and she can growl like a motherfucker! Seriously, try and find a live video from Download 2006, it's crazy.

Watch that, she doesn't scream in the WW video but wait till Soil and she does both the "Halo"'s.

I recently reached 1000 posts btw.

I think a medal might be in order.

That a tv show, or channel or something?
We don't get any good music channels here. Just MTV and Fuse :(

Btw, Did you like the Sonic Maximizer?

Yeah it's a music channel. I wasn't sure where it was shown.

Yeah the Sonic Mazimizer is cool. I haven't worked with it too much but I've basically opened it up and set it to guitar and left it at that, it looks pretty limited in terms of tone. It seems to me that the first 2 dials are bass and treble on an amp to me. Is it just an extension?

Not sure what you mean by extension.
But, definitely not the main tone shaping tool. I use it basically as a touch up. After I'm done recording a song I just run it through that to give it more presance. The "process" knob is basically a presance knob, and does add treble. The low contour is obviously just bass. The only thing I don't like about it is that it gives kindof a "scooped" sound, but I haven't tried adding more mids afterward yet cause I'm at my dad's.

MRDuCran 06-28-2006 12:54 AM

What I meant by extension what you explained as a "touch up" so we both meant the same thing.

An extension of what the amp does, i.e gives you treble, bass settings etc.

I think that presense knob comes in handy actually. I think I'm using it on all the guitar tracks on my recording of Bleeding Mascara by Ateryu that I just finished so I'll definately get some use out of it.

Atreyu are pathetic. They just ripped off In Flames' to make "their" hit song, right side of the bed. They are sloppy too. Bland. Boring.

lol. I'd except better from you Mitch.

I started practicing sixpounder again. I learned part of AYDY and I'll try to nail the rest tomorrow.

Yeah I'll send it over once I'm happy with the tones, which probably won't ever happen, I'm using a Line 6 Spider 2 amp!

I think I already mentioned, that I had to learn it for a performance I was supposed to be doing today (it's now 08:20 Wednesday morning for moi) but the fukking thing got cancelled.

It's a good song for showing off because for me, it's easy and sounds hard. Haha I watched some kids on youtube playing the intro, fukk it's BAD.

But anyway, since I learnt the whole thing, I thought I might as well record it so then people will think I'm god lawl.

I was messing around with Cool Edit Pro 2 a few nights ago and found that you can mess around with the pitch of a recorded wave file, i.e guitar riff or vocal.

You could record Nile in drop D, and drop it another 5 semitones without touching your tuning pegs, and it'd probably sound pretty close, depending on your original tone of course. And Sixpounder.

Also, you can record a half arsed scream, add distortion, echo, reverb, chorus, and drop it 7 semitones and sound like Lord Worm. :)

I did one and it sounds like that scream in the beginning of Crown of Thorns.

I hope you notice my sexy paragraphs.

Oh, and a crappy $10 sony mic :thumb:

repcak 06-28-2006 10:24 AM

@Forlorn Hope: i plan to buy the Jackson DXMG next week or something and because you own one, can you tell me how you like your DXMG? some weak points, some pro-contra-arguments .... :thumb:

Forlorn Hope 06-28-2006 10:43 AM

Well I definitely love the neck, compound radius. Most people don't like the EMG HZ's, but I personally think they are fine. The fret access is a little weak, but bearable I guess. When I first got it, the little thing that holds the whammy bar jack kept coming loose, then I would have to open up the back and tighten it, but after awhile it stopped doing that. I'd look at some reviews, cause it's the highest end guitar I've played. So in my hands, it feels like gold, but if I have played one of the Soloist models for example, I'm sure I wouldnt be praising it as much. But from my standpoint, it is a great guitar. Definitely worth buying :)

plus I'm a Jackson whore...

Have you played one yet anywhere?

Shadows 06-28-2006 11:24 AM

I'm a Jackson whore too. :) The DXMG is a good deal.
