they actually arent that heavey compared to some bands, like slipknot, i dont like them but they are really heavy in my opinion. CoB is still quite heavy though.
slipknot heavier than Bodom?? i think not.

btw, can this Passage to the Reaper video be downloaded, or do you have to buy it?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2006 07:39 PM

I'm suprised you like Gothenburg stuff, but not Bodom. Most people I've come across who like Bodom have liked GOtherburg as well.

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 07:56 PM

Wow. I havn't laughed that hard in a while. Your an idiot. :p :p :p

If you want really heavy, As Mitch said. Go with Nile and Meshuggah (who both are insanely great). Arsis is pretty heavy as well.

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 08:03 PM

No problem.

I was thinking Cannibal Corpse actually to put for my post but some of the production sucks, but then again, same with Nile, I was just thinking of Cast Down the Heretic from their new album. And Meshuggah, well...Meshuggah.

Slipknot is heavier than bodom, when i first heard bodom i didnt think they were heavy enough really

COBHC VANCITY 03-19-2006 08:11 PM

wow. you must not really know what heavy means.

for me, bad production ads to the heaviness. as does the intensity of the music, how strongly they believe in it and how passionate the artists are.
not just drop tunings and heavy riffs.

for example, i find black metal the heaviest because theyre so crazy about what they do.

but obviously low growling vocals etc like cannibal corpse contributes to heaviness as well... i guess it all depends how you look at it.

MRDuCran 03-19-2006 08:12 PM

ohshi, i sense an argument between manda and dylan

Just because Bodom doesn't tune down to Drop A or Drop B as Slipknot does to make up for lack or talent/creativity doesn't make Slipknot heavier.

There are more factors than just how heavy riffs sound.

You have to consider,

The feel of the music
Mood
Vocals
Bass
Drumming
Lyrical/musicial/overall song theme
and many more factors...

IMO, Neither Slipknot nor Bodom are near the heaviest out there.

Nile, Meshuggah, Arsis(quite brutal), Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, Opeth(some very heavy songs), Behemoth, Hypocrisy(the virus album is downright brutal&intense), Green Day(insane blast beats).... Those are all much heavier.

I think your the "winah" on that point. :p

Heavieness has no true, tangible definition.

CoB just doesn't have the heavy sort of feel for me, but I will still try to check out some of thier older stuff.

It is true that crappy production adds to heaviness, but only sometimes. Six Feet Under is a crappily produced version of Cannibal Corpse, but I think CC is better.

I really don't think that My liking of Gothenburg obligates me to like CoB, but in any way, I never said CoB were bad, I simply don't listen to them on a routine basis......just not my style for some reason.

(people should start lobbying for DBJ to change my account name.......he won't listen to me haha)

haha.

We should praise Limp Bizkit for their amazing sweeps. In addition, I'd like to praise Death Cab For Cutie for their steller Growls and gravity beats.

Invicta_Veritas 03-20-2006 01:58 AM

I'd also like to thank Linkin Park for thier huge influence, and amazingly eloquent lyrics, without you guys we would never be here

****applause and screams from the crowd******
