LOL that video is awesome... Bruce runs like the biggest queer

edit: in 8 hours or so, i'll be stoned out of my mind witnessing the magic of AMOLAD being performed :).

MrConeman 10-16-2006 11:57 AM

Have a good time gice, do tell all when you return!

Quiksilver26 10-16-2006 11:58 AM

Josh 10-16-2006 01:47 PM

Rod's also annoyed at the people wanting more classics on the setlist, if you're on the IMOC you can read his diary as well.

personally, i think it's great that 2MTM is on there, and if The Evil That Men Do is still on the setlist, i'll be incredibly happy :) as it's one of my favourite maiden songs, ever.

Quiksilver26 10-16-2006 10:58 PM

Aye, so i just got back... my fuck, I know say this afte revery show, but that was seriolsy the greatest set i've ever seen. The energy was incredible. Especially during the jump from The Legacy, which was actually one of the best songs for sure, to FotD. :d Ehh, i can't be arsed to write out everythin.. so, ill just say this: if ye have the chance to se this show, 100% do it. :)

dude edit: dude, 7 bucks a beer, wtfsrsly:upset:

Cool. Only about 11.5 hours til the show starts for me! So...probably more like 12.5-13 hours until Maiden actually comes on stage. $7/beer is why we're picking up a case to drink in the parking lot/line. I figure we'll be good and drunk for bullet for my valentine but sobering up by the time Maiden comes on.:thumb:

Quiksilver26 10-17-2006 08:50 AM

Alright, so now that I can form somewhat coherent thoughts, I'll share what I thought to be some of the highlights of the show. First of all, all of Bruce's little dance maneuvers while he's performing are simply cool as hell . I think playing AMOLAD in its entirety really magnified the crowd's anticipation for the classics they played... IMO that was one of the best decisions they ever made. Something I'm just realizing now is that the cheering/applause when Bruce said there would definitely be another tour was not matched, not even by Hallowed  .
Some other highlights, for me anyway, included my friend being really sick by the go station and throwing up all over the place, also me almost falling 8 or so times trying to get out of the bloody ACC.

edit: found these videos of the show actually: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=Shawn123454321
the videos themselves aren't all that great, but the sound is amazing. The clips are from FotD, FtGGoG, tRoBB, and Longest Day.

-The Frank 10-17-2006 09:26 AM

Sounds like a awesome show. People are making me so jealous these days =/

Josh 10-17-2006 01:28 PM

hehe. 2 months exactly til i see them....

Fish Wanker 10-17-2006 04:49 PM

I've been to the show and they weren't that great. The bassist kept stepping over his strap, and the drummer wouldn't stop hitting his high tom when they went into the crash in number of the beast. Other than that, the made some lousy covers of metallica, which were horrible compared to their originals.

pate 10-17-2006 05:09 PM

Trolls exit this great topic now.

Josh 10-17-2006 05:11 PM

meh, reported him already. i saw he had a couple of other posts in R&M and went to see what they were, just mindless spam, not even remotely intelligent or entertaining.
TROBB is now on my mobile for me to listen to tomorrow :)

pate 10-17-2006 05:12 PM

Awesome. Is anyone else here seeing them anytime soon?

December 22nd for me.

pate 10-17-2006 05:20 PM

Sweet. I wish I could go

Josh 10-17-2006 05:21 PM

that's tough. but according to Nicko's diary (if i remember rightly) they'll certainly be touring again, and they're going to do at least one more tour of "classic" material :)

Surtr 10-17-2006 06:03 PM

I hope to god I get to see the next coming Maiden tour.

I desperatley wish I could have gone to the Montreal and Quebec City gigs.

-The Frank 10-18-2006 03:29 AM

Hopefully they'll do a summer tour for their golden years tour next year. Thats the only time that i can see them :(

Very interesting interview with niko:
Nicko: I just finished my work for the day and I’m going to go down to the pub and get blotto’d. I don’t drink anymore, but it is just stress [laughs].
 best way to start off an interview.

And I believe I spotted something about a new album in 08 :eek:!

-The Frank 10-18-2006 08:07 AM

I saw that to and might i tell you that, that would be amazing if they came out with a new album next year.

Quiksilver26 10-18-2006 12:55 PM

Yeah, I wasn't really expecting another album that soon.. but I'd absolutely love to see where they go from AMOLAD. IMO of course, they couldn't do much wrong... unless they added something like... say a bagpipe player . And even that would sound pretty badass...

132WalrusesInMexico 10-18-2006 03:06 PM

I saw Iron Maiden last night at The Palace in Detroit. They we're pretty freaking awesome. The opening band sucked though, so my friends and I just waited outside the stadium for them to get off.

Quiksilver26 10-18-2006 04:12 PM

Eh I spent most of BFMV's set getting beer, but what I saw wasn't too bad... not exactly my favourite kind of music, but they played well atleast.

We went down on the floor just so we wouldn't have so far to go when Maiden came on. I ended up getting into it with some emo-goth fag. A bunch of pit ragers and one of them happened to catch me right above my eye. Chaos ensued. :smash: :smash:

It was a really good show overall. The last 30 minutes was better than the first hour. I still am not a huge fan of the setlist, but the energy and stage presence made up for it. Maiden played their asses off. Nicko split his bass drum skin so Bruce walked around and talked for a good 5 minutes or so while a drum tech came out and changed it. I was able to get pretty close. I ended up being just about 3 feet (just shy of 1 meter for those metric people out there) away from the wall. The stage set-up was really cool. The tank with Eddie sticking out was great. I'd definately go see them again.

AatG has bagpipes:confused:

Quiksilver26 10-19-2006 08:38 AM

:( i really can't seem to pick them out... about how far in do they start??

Lord Abortion 10-19-2006 09:44 AM

Okay. Lord Ollie has his points to make.

1. AMOLAD live is going to be incredible. I stand by everything Nicko said, people should stop ****ing whinging, the album is amazing, and it's going to be amazing live, so if you don't like it, **** off.

2. The new video for DW is really cool. It's like a Resident evil game, but with big metal spider things-awesome.

3. There will be other tours, there will be the next "era tour" either next year or the year after, they are making at the very least one more album, Steve said he always wanted 15 albums, then he would consider what to do there.

pate 10-19-2006 10:30 AM

And now Steve said he'd like to make more than 15 albums.

I can't wait for the next era tour.

Ahh they are keyboards arnet they? For some reason i always had the thought that they were bagpipes. They sounds like that to me :(
Those keyboards are the closest maiden has gotten to cheesy though.
