Forlorn Hope 06-26-2006 09:43 PM

So I've heard.

I want to get an acoustic geetar soon. Good brands of acoustics?

AA-12 06-26-2006 09:55 PM

Martin is kind of the standard.

I'm going to Memphis, Tenn. tomorrow and am going to check out all the music places. Hopefully i'll be getting a new guitar.

Forlorn Hope 06-26-2006 11:09 PM

Any idea of what kind of guitar you might get?

haha already? Don't you already have several?

Forlorn Hope 06-26-2006 11:49 PM

I wish there was a cheaper SV or something. I love the look and Rhoads-ish body style, but they cost too much :(

Look at some ESP's. They've got some guitars with those body types.

ESP's are great too. couple days ago I got an esp ltd H-250 which happens to be autographed by megadeth.

Forlorn Hope 06-27-2006 12:30 AM

I was talking about ESP's. Unless what I'm talking about itsn't called SV. I'm talking about Alexi's guitar basically. But I wish there was a cheaper version, I like the shape, pinstripe, Alder Body, the HZ's (surprisingly)...etc
Maybe if I somehow achieve a few thousand dollars instantly without having to do anything I'll custom order one :P

Alexi's guitar is an overpriced piece of junk. lol. Just get a RR.

MRDuCran 06-27-2006 05:04 AM

Alexi's guitar is an RV. An SV IS the cheaper version, some of which that have 2 pickups. I probably wouldn't buy anything like because the 24fret fret access isn't as easy as something like an RG550.

ESP's are great. I have an ESP B206 6 string bass. That thing is a beast.

Yeah, heh.

Nope. Maybe a V/something similiar.

It's called the ESP LTD MMV SN. I have one, and it took me forever to find. It's a pretty nice guitar for the money, but it could use some better pickups. There's no real intermediate price level. It goes from affordable to hella expensive, but they just released a new model, so it may have changed.

Where did you get it? Do you know of an online store that has it?

If you have insanely long fingers like me, then it's fine. or you could tap it?

MRDuCran 06-27-2006 04:28 PM

I have pretty long fingers and they're rather thin, but I know how easy it can be on some guitars, and the rg I have currently is not what I'd want on my main guitar. People say "oh you don't need to the 24th fret", but I do. I use it alot.

repcak 06-27-2006 04:32 PM

i have only 22frets and i hate it... does anyonw know how's the access to the 24th fret on Jacksons? especially the DXMG or a MG serie in general?

ähm, Mitch i started to play guitar again :p and practise your sweep shapes....

you roll over the index right? i hate it :p

That's definately good to hear.

That shape has been a pain in the azz to many people, including me at times, but you roll your middle or ring finger for that one.

repcak 06-27-2006 04:56 PM

oh yes sure... i meant ring finger... not index
so, if its difficult for a lot of ppl to play it and i'm not the only one who struggles with his "rolling", it would be better to cocentrate on other shapes?! and after some time, when i'm better come back again to this A-shape?

yes, started playing again... i finished the most important things for university and now i have more time again :D

[/QUOTE]

If you're asking me, which you are...I'd say no. Just because everyone else has trouble, it shouldn't mean you should take a break or give up. Practise that one more if anything and get better than everyone else at it. If it's a weak spot, don't leave it like that, turn it into a strong point. Same goes wih anything.

You should practise all the shapes equally. I usually join them all up without stopping and try just improvising using anything.

repcak 06-27-2006 05:18 PM

till now i only practised the first shape for 3 and 4 strings :/
and a little bit of the A-shape on 3 strings...
