I just listened to the Swirlies' Blonder Tongue Audio Baton for the first time and was knocked ass backwards by it. I'm craving it again, maybe tonight.

Man that album is good. They sound like their name, really...swirly. Or something. Bell is an awesome song.

mr_jackalope 11-05-2006 08:06 PM

I gotta keep exploring shoegaze more thoroughly I'm convinced now. Dear god let there be more gems like that hidden in the early 90s, please.

But for now I'm listening to a Lambchop b-sides comp called Tools in the Dryer. I'm convinced this band is a national treasure.

Anxious 11-05-2006 08:33 PM

I hate plan-it-x

pixiesfanyo 11-05-2006 08:34 PM

Tony's new band is sick.

Tangy zizzle 11-06-2006 04:19 PM

Still, Blood Meridian - Kick Up the Dust.

This is really, really good. It's good rootsy, down home Wilco, Neil Young, Dylan stuff. Lots of acoustic guitars, pianos and noisy little guitar attacks thrown in for good measure. Meeeeeaaan.

asymm 11-06-2006 04:30 PM

Letsee...

Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain

I just ordered my Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinels Edition, yeeaaahh.

asymm, you should check out (if you havn't yet) this Blood Meridian album. It's really, really good.

"country and blues made by people who learnt to play guitar to Ramones records"

asymm 11-06-2006 04:45 PM

I'm definitely intrigued. Due to my recent absent-mindedness, I emailed myself a reminder to check it out once I return home. I'll give my impressions soon, hopefully.

Tangy zizzle 11-06-2006 05:02 PM

Good man.

Also diggin' Boys & Girls in America. I don't think it's as good as Seperation Sunday, but the Hold Steady are still one of the best bands on the planet, no dispute.

Rejd 11-06-2006 05:14 PM

David Byrne - Look Into The Eyeball
Beirut - Gulag Orkestar
C0ck Sparrer - Shock Troops

Cloud Cult - Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus

Holy ****.

Zmev 11-06-2006 06:55 PM

Woven Hands - Consider the Birds

This is great, like 16 Horsepower except slightly the inferior.

<333333333DEE

Zmev 11-06-2006 07:13 PM

Woven Hand is the first step on the road to recovery from 16 Horsepower disbanding.

Oh yeah and why do you keep listening to Destroyer if you don't even like them?

BillCosby 11-06-2006 07:45 PM

Birdman & Lil' Wayne - Like Father, Like Son

mr_jackalope 11-06-2006 08:12 PM

Oh dang I hain't listened to the Go-Betweens in a while, I might just do that soon.

Little Man being Erased 11-06-2006 08:40 PM

The Veils - Nux Vomica
Mobb Deep - The Infamous...
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Daft Punk - Discovery

Nux Vomica is definitely the best album I've heard released this year. Amazing.

Zebra 11-06-2006 10:05 PM

Jaco Pastorius - Jaco Pastorius

This is a really cool album, and I don't even play bass. This is much better then Weather Reports Heavy Weather.

Little Man being Erased 11-06-2006 10:09 PM

Hey Plath, you should check out The Veils if you haven't. You'd dig them. The vocals are a little bit Rufus-y.

Everybody else should check them out too.

Jawaharal 11-06-2006 10:22 PM

T-Bone Burnett - The True False Identity

Man I really can't wait for Orphans. It's going to be so damn good.

If you're not a bassist and listen to this it makes you feel less worse about your musical ability.

Though Portrait of Tracy is cool to play, everything else is just gah

sr800bkBassist 11-06-2006 10:49 PM

Husker Du- "Flip Your Wig" and "New Day Rising"

here's a question? why does everyone rave about "Zen Arcade"? it's far from their best.

YDload 11-06-2006 11:01 PM

zen arcade has the same amount of great songs as new day rising, but a lot more filler

Little Man being Erased 11-06-2006 11:41 PM

I don't like Zen Arcade. I tried to listen to it for the second time the other day and I had to turn it off after 5 songs. It's just really dull.
