I downloaded Ichi the Killer a while ago and fucking deleted it.
I'm pissed. |
tell him he cant use his amp
after all, guitars sound the same without amps, only quieter :) |
What's the point in dragging a set just to put silencers on.
Try and go in a studio as you were saying...
He don't seem to wanna go in a studio now hence his excuses of no money. I get the feeling he just wants to practice at home so his parents can hear his little band or something like that....
tell him he cant use his amp after all, guitars sound the same without amps, only quieter :)
Bwahahah. That is effin brilliant! When I said I was gonna play on cardboard he said it was "not loud enough" and I told him that he could in fact turn his amp down....kinda funny considering the whole point of the argument.
I downloaded Ichi the Killer a while ago and fucking deleted it. I'm pissed.
Lmao, great film! Just buy it dude! |
Actually, yeah. I think I will.
Of course, if they don't have it at Best Buy, I am going to be PISSED. >=/ |
Sweet! Plan B has an Ichi The Killer avatar, I loves it :D
In other news, I took some photos for this photography business today....got paid £30 and they asked back for 2 days next weekend....I'm on £7 an hour :D Easy money...and it's the most random story of how I got the job too lol. |

My girlfriend works at a petrol station. The other day she was cleaning the pumps when some bloke pulled up and was like "you can clean my car while you're at it" My girlfriend was like "yeah, how much will you pay me?"
Bloke: "£5" Girlfriend: "**** that, they pay me more than that here!" Bloke: "How much do they pay you here?" Girlfriend: "I'm on £5.70 an hour" Bloke: "Come work for me, I'll pay you £6.40. I run a photography business, here's my card" The next day he went back into the garage to give my girlfriend some info on the job. My girlfriend (who I shall refer to as Jo from here onwards as that's her name and it's quicker to type) was like "remember that bloke who offered me that photography job? Well he came back in with some info. He's asked me to go to Oxford on Saturday for an interview/training on processing photos, will you come along cos you can read the map for me, plus you did Media Studies so you can help me out if I get confused....bring your ipod and something to read incase you get bored, I'm gonna be there for 4 hours" Me: "Sure, I'll come along, what the hell :)" Jo: "yay, meet me at my house on Saturday morning 7:45am." So we went to Oxford (or near Oxford) and I was looking out for a blue Mercedes and a Horse box with the company name on it cos that was what the bloke had told her to look out for. Then Jo tells me its actually a blue Horse box made by Mercedes..... All this time I thought Jo was gonna be developing photos for this guy, like he had a darkroom in his shed or something and she'd learn how to process photos while I sat in the car. Then in the middle of a field I saw the blue Horse box with the company name on....it was actually at some local Horse trials. Slightly confused at to what the hell was going on, we parked up and went up to the guy. Bloke: "Oh hey, you made it :)" Jo: "Hello, this is my boyfriend Joe, I bought him along cos he did 2 years of Media Studies at college so I thought he might be able to help out" Bloke: "Hey Joe [lol] nice to meet you. Ever used a camera before?" Me: Um...yeah but they're all differe..." Bloke: "Good! Go down to the blonde lady at the other end of the field, she'll give you a camera and tell you what to do" I then spent the next 4 hours in the freezing rain, taking pictures of the Horses as they went over the jumps while Jo sat in the warm van processing and editing all the photos I (and the other photographers) took. I actually really enjoyed myself, despite having gotten up at stupid o'clock in the morning and being freezing. The "bloke" rode around the course on a quad bike (which I got to ride on :D), collecting our memory cards to take them to the van and get processed - he's basically running a mobile printing thing. Horse riders go round the course, then five minutes they can have a printed action shot of it. The photos we took were sold for £10 each or £25 for 3!!!! Jo said she took nearly £150 in the first hour or so and that people had bought some of the photos I'd taken. Ten freakin quid....for a photo taken by some random guy who thought he was coming with his girlfriend for a job interview! Me and Jo got £30 each for our 4 hours work and have been asked back for 2 full days next weekend for £7 an hour! |
i was so waiting for that to be a forced porn / rape story.
Ok.......big rant coming up.......need your thoughts though, so give it a read.
So....the other day I met up with this guitarist who answered my "drummer available" ad on partysounds.co.uk. He was looking to start up a band...kinda Britpop/Rock & Roll sorta style. Not totally my thing but I can live with it and I'm desperate for a band. So I met up with him and this other guitarist he'd found. They seemed alright, chatted for a while and then got onto the subject of where to practice. The general consensus was to hire out a studio seeing as there's plenty of cheap ones around. The guy also said that practising in his garage could be a possibility although he'd have to check with his parents. Fair enough. Next day he says to me "we can practise in my garage but on one condition: you have to have silencers on your drums.....do you have any?" Seeing as I don't have any, I said no. He then asked me to get some. I was like "dude, I don't really wanna spend £40 for some rubber pads that are gonna make my drums sound like cardboard....." After like an hour of me explaining that I meant "play on cardboard boxes", not "put cardboard boxes over my drums", he pretty much said that I had to buy silencers to be in the band. I was like "dude, I'll just play cardboard....why spend money to make a drum kit sound like cardboard boxes when you can just play cardboard boxes....it's cheaper and easier to transport!" According to him, drums still sound the same with silencers on, only quieter (dampening acts like a volume button!) He later bought up how he'd played a silenced kit before (convenient how he suddenly remembered) as though to back up what he was saying like "I've played a kit with pads on so I should know" kinda thing. Pretty patronising imo. I explained to him that silencers eliminate attack and resonance which are the basic things that make drums sound like drums! Hence my cardboard theory. Then today, he told me I had to get silencers or they'd have to look for another drummer. I appreciate the fact that we can't play loud but I don't fancy lugging my kit over to his house only to put old t-shirts on them or whatever. Bit of a waste of time and money imo. He then put it straight: Buy silencers and be in the band or don't buy silencers and not be in the band. Hitting cardboard = the no band option, apparently. So I asked about hiring a studio....his words were "I'm not earning enough money, neither is Matt [the other guitarist] and neither are you. It's not really an option but getting silencers is." Tbh, that is bullsh!t. Don't tell me Tesco aint paying him enough to get the bus into town and play in a studio for a couple of hours once a week! The other guy (who was pretty cool btw) seems freakin loaded! He's running a 2006 BMW, 3.2 Litre engine and is buying a house in Cheltenham. Sounds like he's got money to spare! The argument just went round like that - no cardboard, no studio, get silencers because they don't affect anything other than the volume...if you don't get them, you can't be in the band. Am I being a total ass about it? Should I spend £40 to silence my kit then lug it over to this guys house when I could just hit other things that are cheaper and sound similar to a kit with silencers on it?
i think you're being kind of unreasonable. Not many people wanna hear drums in their house. Just get something to silence them. You don't necessarily have to buy anything. Find towels or old clothes from home. The sound of the drums doesnt even really matter during a band practice anyway. Playing on cardboard boxes is a terrible idea as well. |

Meh, it doens't really matter. Photography can play easy tricks, making anybody look older or younger than they really are.
