I didn't really notice a change between previous member Alexander to Roope. They made a good choice in asking him to join.
|
I do not think that Alexi and Kim's band Sinergy is that great, but then again I haven't heard many songs.
|
Warmen sounds like Stratovarius without vocals and way too many keyboard solos.
|
Another thing Alexi has to work on his vocals...they have gotten better since Something Wild ,but it still needs more improvement, I will be amazed if he can go from the screaming rasp to a Dimmu Borgir sounding vocal harmony. I hope that makes sense.
|
The lead from Dimmu Borgir is just as bad as Alexi's voice...
Unless you mean their clean singer. |
Something Wild vocals > any vocals after that
His screaming now sucks. I liked it way back in the day when he had a black metal type scream. |
There clean singer
For instance the singing part in Prodigies of a great apocalypse |
There clean singer
No offense, but that's THE stupidest idea I've ever heard. Bodom with clean vocals would be a disaster. Their vocals (however bad they may be) are part of what makes the band who they are. |
I always found that the most (and only) appealing thing about Dimmu is the vocals. Shagrath, while he may not have the greatest voice, just seems very charismatic to me. This coming from a guy who hated Dimmu with a passion until I discovered I liked one of thier albums a few months ago.
|
Maybe I Alexi just played lead and they found a new singer someone between David Dramer (disturbed) and Jesse Leech(killswitch engaged)...I don't know it's just a thought.
|
I love the band's image.
They try WAY too hard, and look comical doing it. |
A mix of Death Metal rasping and some clean vocals
|
are you just naming random singers, and are you crazy?
Bodom only fits with their vocals end of story. |

Are you crazy???? Not only would those vocals not work at all with Bodom's sound, but Alexi IS CoB. Without him screaming the band just wouldn't be CoB anymore (which is a big part of why Synergy isn't the greatest band). Maybe if they worked in some death metal vocals - that might be cool. Bodom's comically aggressive image is the other half of the band. |
I love the rasping, but it gets tiring listening to a song 10 times to hear what the f**k he's saying

That's why you have sites like darklyrics.com ;) |

If you prefer music where you can tell what the vocalist is saying, then I don't think metal is your genre. |
Ok forget anything I have said...

Here's your basic Bodom lyrics breakdown: 1. It always involves either the Bodom murders, death, pain, or something pointy 2. Expect to hear curses in the song. (these you can always pick out) There you go. Now you're all set. :thumb: EDIT: He could always try traditional power metal... |
I liked them in 96 with Inearthed and I like them now as Cob. They have a unique sound in what and in the way they play, but you're right vocals don't make the band the fans do.
|
lol Bodom has horrendus lyrics anyway. No offense to Alexi but he writes terrible lyrics. And I can understand most of what he says after listening to harsh vocals for long enough. Personally, I think harsh vocals pale in comparison to good clean vocals like Maiden, but I think bands like Wintersun do an excellent job of mixing them.
|
I've come to the conclusion that Alexi's a pretty decent guitarist.

What album's that? I'm not into black metal, and as a result never got into Dimmu, but I'd like to hear some stuff by the band before making a judgement on them. |
I always found Maiden's vocals a tad irritating...
My preference of vocals: female singers in metal. No matter how they sing, they pull it off great. |

Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. It's like a really atmospheric Cradle of Filth album. Very unique melodies. Their early stuff was very symphonic, but hardly worth of being labeled "black" metal. Their new stuff...is just bad. It's like they'd rather have a blesphemous image and use an orchestra than actually play their instruments. |
Female singers?
Like Otep? |
I always found Maiden's vocals a tad irritating...

It enhances quite a few of their songs. And image is the whole ****ed point of black metal. Without the image, black metal would be a whole lot worse. It's as important a function as the style of music.
Female singers? Like Otep?
Kind of a crappy example, but yes. Better example would be Nightwish. |
Back on subject. When is COB's next US tour?

At all. |
lol shadows fallen that actually made me laugh.
Personally I hate female singers in metal. From what I have heard of Nightwish, Sinergy, and Dark Moor, it really just isn't my thing. |

you sitting at your computer with your guitar too? i seem to do that a lot |
:amaze:
You guys need a crash course...(**** I've been saying that a lot). Try Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Arch Enemy, Estuary, Lunatica or Flowing Tears for some decent vocals. Also, The Gathering and Elfonia work rather nicely too...although they aren't as metal, they still kick epic ***. EDIT: Me too...come to think of it, i do most of my guitar playing on the computer. |
And image is the whole ****ed point of black metal. Without the image, black metal would be a whole lot worse. It's as important a function as the style of music.
But that's my point! Dimmu Borgir is not black metal!!! They can have whatever the hell image they want, but it doesn't change the music. They opt to go for symphonic music, but I think in DCA they went too far with the orchestra and sort of forgot that they're supposed to play metal with their blasphemy. |
Maybe I Alexi just played lead and they found a new singer someone between David Dramer (disturbed) and Jesse Leech(killswitch engaged)...I don't know it's just a thought.
..... Those two singers are pretty bad. Bodom wouldn't be Bodom without Alexi singing. Anyway, i'm currently downloading the new Warmen album. |
