I want that armor soo bad.

Also, is it worth getting all five expansions? I've looked over some of them, and although I'm fairly new to the game I've noticed that the level cap being raised from 20 to 30 ain't that bad.
Operation Anchorage is great fun and you get some kickass stuff at the end of it. The Pitt is entertaining and has more in the way of moral choices but isn't as fun as Anchorage. Broken Steel is a must, simply. It raises your level cap to 30 and is hella fun, but it does cause some seriously strong enemies to start appearing (Ghoul Reavers are not fun). Point Lookout is good, and you get some amazing skills from it. Mothership Zeta is a bit meh, but thats probably because I could breeze through it at level 27. To be honest I wouldn't do any of them until you're about level 12-15.

The_Mop 09-08-2009 01:11 PM

Annoyingly the thing with fallout 3 on my PC is the resolution is weird. I've heard of that it was problems with the ratio of my monitor (5:4 I think), it never shows the whole Pip Boy (you can see all of the important bits, but the view is from the whole of the edge of the pip boy screen on the right and that weird wheel thing on the left). usually I use the fov command and that sorts it out, and then I increase the field of view a little bit anyway.

i wanted it so bad, but once i got it, i went back to using the talon merc armor (or something similar) cos the powerarmor is too bulky, slows me down, made me not as stealthy, and boosted big guns which i never use anyway.

plus, like aes said, by the time i got the power armor, i had so many stimpaks i didn't know what to do with them all.

also, the only addon i downloaded was operation anchorage, but i didn't really like it that much. couldn't steal other peoples guns, or horde stuff, which was one of the main things i liked about fallout.

I used to like the Ranger Battle armour, but by the time I got my stats pretty high it did nothing for my small guns skill. I use power armour mainly for the +1 strength because I carry around pretty much every weapon I possibly can, and because when I want to be stealthy I just use the Chinese Stealth armour you get from the Operation Anchorage DLC.

Also, that particular power armour is hellfire armour, which has no negative effects ,ie, there's no agility loss like on other power armours, instead, there's +1 strength and fire/rad resistance. It's mint.
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Enclave_Hellfire_Armor
You can only get it when you finish Broken Steal and you have to nab it off enclave troopers.

The other DLC's are 'real', as it were, so you can pilfer all you like.

Facebook is AWESOME if you have a lot of family on there and don't get to see them that much. It's great for keeping in touch, and now I get to see pictures of my nieces and nephews whenever my sister takes new pictures.

You can, it'll just be ****, and so will you capabilities with it. BTW you've inspired me to start a new save on F3; I'm going to be a right bastard on this one though.

Aye that's what I did, which is why I found it so confusing that you're able to access some of the bigger guns so early in the game. Saved in a church where you save this wastelander right before you go collect landmines for moira, and every time I loaded from there three mutants and one brute with a minigun spawned six feet from me. Haven't used it yet, but I guess it's reasonable that you can't use it properly cos of low skills(!)

Also, I've got this thing going on too. Two different saves, in one of them I'm a sneaky ladies man (which is my main save, to be fair), and in the other one it's just chaos. Looted whatever there was in megaton before destroying the entire city and now I'm just hopping about :naughty:

Thanks for the quick briefing on the expansions BTW! Would it be reasonable to get them right away (I've got a feeling that this game will turn out to be even better as i progress farther in the game, and I already like it a whole lot)? Or should I wait till I've finished it all, then go for them?

Also my quest for nicking the sawn off shotgun off some ghouls is still going down the drain. Better wait till I raise my skills up. Really want it though, classic weapons is definately my cup of tea.

Aes820 09-09-2009 04:39 AM

The sawed-off is a terrible weapon.
You might want to grab one to keep for posterity, but I doubt you'd be relying on it often.

When you were in that church did you find the recording hidden in the lectern?

You can get and install all the expansions as soon as you start the game, and they'll appear as normal quests. I'd do that, and leave them till you're a higher level. Personally I'd do them in the release order as well; Anchorage, Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership.

The game does indeed become extremely awesome. If you're a chaotic type then you'll love it when you get companions, especially the later more powerful ones. What I did was get the 2 companions I thought matched my style the most, kitted them out with power armour and big guns then all 3 of us went on a big Raider killing rampage.

Oh, and this is possibly the most useful site ever
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout_3

AES: The sawn off is alright, but I'd take a well repaired combat shotgun, or even the double barrelled one you get in Point Lookout over it.

Having it on the PC is awesome because you can assign keys 1-8 as hot keys. On mine, 8 is stimpacks, and the rest are guns. Off the top of my head it's;
1- Infiltrator (silenced, scoped assault rifle, from the Pitt)
2- Lincoln's Repeater
3- Chinese Assault Rifle
4- Fully repaired Minigun (gets me out of tight situations with reavers)
5- Syndey's 'ultra' 10mm smg (with this fully repaired and with my skills this has a dmg of 130!)
6- Sniper Rifle
7- Tri Shot laser Rifle.

E.S.P. 09-09-2009 04:46 AM

AES:The only thing I found on the lectern was a book of medicine and some burnt out ones. Is it hidden inside the lectern itself?

SBT: Alright yeah, I guess I'll be getting them. Got quite a few microsoft points to spare so I'll save $20, hehe. Thanks bro.

Also, is there a way to pickpocket people without being caught, or is my skill still too low yet? I'd hate to spend all of my caps at the start on stimpacks/ammo/repairs.

Aes820 09-09-2009 05:20 AM

I can't remember where it is exactly, maybe inside the lectern, yeah.
But it's around there somewhere. There's five recordings in all. They are all clues as to how to get the Experimental MIRV (like the Fat Man, but crazy).

To admit. I had to use that Fallout wiki to help me find the fifth recording.

I haven't got any of the expansions, yet. So I just use regular weapons.

1. Lincoln's Repeater
2. The Terrible Shotgun
3. Xuanlong Assault Rifle
4. A3-21s Plasma Rifle
5. Victory Rifle
6. A heavy weapon to suit the situation (usually a Missile Launcher or Vengeance)
7. Some sort of grenade
8. Stimpack

I often also carry around a hunting rifle for the easy stuff, like dogs, molerats and etc.
Plus the Alien blaster because it only has a weight of 2, and is handy if suddenly attacked by a deathclaw or sentry bot.

North of Big Town, cross the bridge over the Potomac then veer north west. It comes up as a location, I think it's something like Shady Moors cemetery.

kills everything in one hit. i got it, but it made the game kinda loose its excitement so i ditched it and went back to the AK and regular 44 magnum. though i did add a bunch of 44 magnum ammo to my inventory with a code cos goddamn its hard to find and one of my main weapons.
