All of those bands are good, but all sound quite different BRA.
They have thier defining qualities, but ultimately they all do Death metal with an american twist (with the breakdowns and such). The vocals can also be strikingly similar. The music itself and sound varies, yes, but I still don't see how he can like two and absolutely despise the other one.... Yes, Matt, he's fast, but pay attention to the rythms on Allegiance. That takes talent, don't deny. |
That is true, but DM is from America so...
But otherwise, I agree, except JFAC don't use any breakdowns with Genesis, so it's harder to put them in that category. |
Yea, I still haven't really listened to Genesis all the way through, I just got it...

Those bands are so distinctly different it's hilarious. That's like saying Today Is The Day and Converge are the exact same thing.
|
DM is from America? Says who? Bands from both US and Europe emerged around the same time...
|
Except Slipknot was the first one to make it big, therefore it's American.
|
Except Slipknot wasn't Death Metal.
|
Except Slipknot started death metal.
Anyway, Today Is The Day is pretty nice. |

It's quite good. |
Not as good as Doom.

You're not being very nice. Bet you didn't see my last post in the community thread coming, now did ya? |
Stop asking for this to be closed. The height of spam has been hit and passed already and if this was to be closed, it would have been.

Yeah, this is really annoying me. You recommended me into Today Is The Day though, so thank you. |
Not as good as Doom.
Doom is nowhere near as good as Genesis. |
Genesis is fucking boring after a week. The songs on Doom actually have character to them, rather than rehashing everything that's ever been done in death metal. The balance of melody and brutality was a great aspect, and Johnny's vocals were a lot more varied. Also, no shitty solos.
Overall, Doom is a lot more of an interesting, more versatile album, that has a lot more emotion behind it, end. |
It was bland garbage that was made to sound just like the fads and scene. Genesis is at least not meant to be scene, even if you think it is boring. It's a better sound for the band, overall.

It's not because of the spam, but rather because most of the bands mentioned in this thread arent metalcore. |
I agree with Concubine though.
Also, Hbp... WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Doom was an album that had the identity of what the band was trying to play to it, Andrew left and Elliot left, and now the music's changed. Genesis is just boring, it's a rehash of every other death metal album before it. |
Yes but I think it was more of what JFAC is instead of Doom, which was really a scene EP when it boils down to it. It was made to capitalized on the fad, which Genesis wasn't.
|
Maybe you don't understand. Most of the songs on Doom were written around 2004/2005, that was the hayday of the faux-metalcore trend, when Doom was a new release, everybody was all like HELL YEAH, AS I LAY DYING! WOOO SHADOWS FALL!
Besides, Doom's not a metalcore recording, neither is Genesis. Here's on topic JFAC discussion: the demo showed promise in the songwriting department, but was pretty sloppy and the drumming was terrible. |
