I would imagine so, not playing a song that contradicts thier musical being in thier early career.
Question for all you hardcore fans who are keeping up with the tour. A few friends and I are wondering, who's playing drums for them? |
Ringo's son, Zak Starkey. Same as it's been since 1996 when the also excellent Simon Phillips stopped performing with the band. He is a good fit and an excellent player.
which is interesting, seeing as how besides songs like Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Reily, Who Are You, and Pinball Wizard, its one of their biggest hits. Maybe it is because of that one line.
I think it may very well be. Although they twist the meaning toward the end in concert these days, it would seem a silly thing to be expressing being Rog and Pete are nearing their mid-sixties. They still look good, though: http://www.petetownshend.co.uk/diary/display.cfm?id=325&zone=pr Scroll down for pics.... |
ALready saw them, PEte has all stars :P (the shoes ;))

Hey, can someone here answer a question for me? I don't really know the details, so it may be unanswerable.
I was watching this PBS thing where they showed excerpts from them playing Tommy and Quadrophenia in it's entirety. During one of the songs (I believe from Quadrophenia) , John had an absolutely mindblowing solo that was about a minute long. So, the question is, what song is this, and is the solo that long on the album? Thanks :). |
5:15 and no, only on the live album get the quadrophenia live dvd
|
On the Royal Albert Hall CD/DVD the solo is even longer in 5:15.
|
Yup I ment that one ;) I have both hea :P
|
I heard Behind Blue Eyes on the radio yesterday. Pretty cool song. In fact I love it. :thumb:

I was just about to post that link so you guys could see the photos. So here it is: http://www.petetownshend.co.uk/diary/display.cfm?id=328&zone=pr I like the setlist ok. Very similar to what they have been doing for the last couple of tours, however. I hope this is just a change of pace kind of thing and they still intend to play the new stuff. Hell, the new stuff isn't even that long, so surely they might even include it in a set like this. Now who is going to see them soon? Dragon I think you are. We need full reports. :) |

its a n00b's song :thumb: naw, just kidding, I really like it. It used to be my favorite when all I knew I was Who's Next and Who Are You. |
@JXD, I'm s excited that setlist is great just add Join Together and Docter Jimmy and then it's pure Who heaven
|
My Generation made a welcome appearance. I never get tired of that song live. Ever. It's a great one. And when they kick it into overdrive at the end it is fantastic.
|
They've done quite a few different versions of My Generation from what I've heard. In addition to the original version, they've done psychedelic versions, "My Generation Blues," and extended the ending into a few more minutes of feedback and noise.
|
That setlist is utterly boring. However, I'm not surprised that this playing "rarities" talk from Pete turned out to be load of bollocks....
Because this is the last tour, one would have tought they would do something different than same stuff but as it stands it won't happen. One of Simon's appearances on 'In The Attic' confirmed this too... |
I must admit a change or two would be in order. Even if they play the new stuff. Happy Jack, I Can See For Miles, Pure And Easy, Squeeze Box, Getting In Tune, The Punk And The Godfather, and many more would be most welcome....
On another note www.thewholive.tv (not a proper link) is completely up and running now and will be webcasting the entire Hyde Park Who set for 99 cents. Only up to 50,000 orders will be honored, so check it out. I watched the first one and it was like a slideshow. But the music came through loud and clear. Perhaps the fact that I'm in the States and the webcast originated from England had something to do with it? Maybe the server? I dunno? But 99 cents is a good deal even if just the audio comes through nicely. I would sign up again but won't be home and I will definitely be signing up when they hit the States... |
omg I wish they were coming here. I would kill to see them. KILLL!
|
Is the show still as good even if it's just half of The Who?
|
^^That's what I was thinking, then I saw a special on PBS. The answer is yes.
|
I saw them two years ago, and yes, they still kick ass like you wouldn't believe. And it still feels like a genuine Who show.
|
IT WAS GREAT EXPECT A FUL REPORT WHEN I GET BACK
and everyone went crazy during my generation and and and I was standing front row ;) |
^yay!
Get back soon. :) |

I finally got "Who's Next"!. I really like it. All tracks are strong but "My Wife" to me is a filler. "Going Mobile" is cheesy but i really like it. Best tracks IMO are "Water", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Pure and Easy", "The Song is Over", "Bargain" and "Going Mobile". Ive heard enough of "Behind Blue Eyes".
I really hope they play in Australia. |
