Here in the U.S. it came out on June 13th.

Dread_rocker 06-28-2006 03:43 PM

i have to wait another month for it here in the UK! raaaa
I've been thinking recently about this want to now what people think, Do you think Rush would be an even better band (i mean musically and relationships) if they wernt as underated or do you reckon that if they were more popular they would'nt be half as good a band as they are now?
I think that makes sense :S

TojesDolan 06-28-2006 04:03 PM

I don't think they are underrated, at least not in the right music circles.

If you mean by the mainstream, they may not even be aware of their existence. Nonetheless, success of lack thereof isn't a factor in how much a band can get better. It can hinder their development musically, at most,.

Dread_rocker 08-12-2006 02:31 AM

Replay x3 is amazing! I cant wait for their new album, Neil Peart is saying that it is sounded very spiritual and that they have been recording in a different way. I'm having doubts on them touring early next year because of Alex's trial!

Kenny_Fever 08-14-2006 02:22 PM

I'm hoping that they get out touring again, I really would like to see them in Toronto again. I saw them back on the R30 tour, and it was an incredible show. I'm really looking forward to seeing them again, if they tour again. My friend and I have already made plans to go when they come back.

mike-o 08-15-2006 11:28 AM

I would love to see Rush myself, just started getting into them, what an amazing band. I saw a concert of them on tv the other day. I can't believe that Geddy can still sing like that.

Kenny_Fever 08-20-2006 10:19 PM

Well Geddy definitely can't hit the high notes like he used to, but he's doing a lot better than I imagine a lot of people would have expected.

BludgeonySteve 08-20-2006 11:34 PM

I think that his vocals got progressively better. But now I guess old age is taking a toll.

6stringed 08-22-2006 02:41 PM

At Guitar Workshop in Toronto this year Alex Lifeson was one of the
special guests. I wanted to go really badly but I couldn't

Just got Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres in the mail. I've listened to AFTK and man is it awesome...haven't had a chance to dig Hemispheres yet though. I already know La Villa Strangiato is my favorite Rush song though.

I think these albums fill out my Rush collection pre-Moving Pictures, too. Except for the s/t.

rockinbass17 08-22-2006 10:59 PM

Both of those albums are incredible. Possibly the two best that Rush has put out. I love the title track on AFTK.

Kenny_Fever 08-28-2006 05:38 PM

I bought Replay X3 yesterday, and it's freakin' cool.

Seeing how their live show has progressed over time is interesting.

I think the whole thing on Grace Under Pressure with the "Put on your 3D glasses" was pretty cheesy, I got a real laugh out of it.

Kreator2112 08-28-2006 05:52 PM

hay eye lyk dis band.

Yeah, I've hardly seen this thread. I still think Rush is one of the greatest band ever formed.

Those are probably my 2 favorite albums of theirs. But there's plenty of Rush left after that to enjoy.

It is so true.

Bajs 08-29-2006 07:00 AM

My favs are:

All the worlds a stage and Exit, stage, left.

Bastille Day was like one of the first full songs i ever learnt :P

i can also play first 2 parts of 2112 (by ear though, not 100% correct) and The trees. Yeah, they are the ****.

Kenny_Fever 08-29-2006 12:44 PM

Yeah, Exit... Stage Left has been one of my favorites for quite some time.

BludgeonySteve 08-29-2006 06:12 PM

Go Trees! You can't help but root for the little maples.

Kenny_Fever 08-29-2006 06:29 PM

Especially when the oaks are ignoring their pleas like they do.

132WalrusesInMexico 08-29-2006 06:54 PM

I'm super excited for their new album. I have high expectations for it. I thought Vapor Trails was okay, it was a lot better then Test For Echo. I just hope that the new album is better then Vapor Trails.

TojesDolan 08-29-2006 07:17 PM

I hope he keeps his vocals in the lower range, like the Feedback EP.

BludgeonySteve 09-01-2006 11:41 AM

I hope that it's an album with one story song over 15 minutes and then a few other ones. That's their best album format.

Atica 09-01-2006 11:53 AM

Rush is a great band, Im just getting into them and they are very good. I only have 2112 and my favorite song is Something for Nothing.

BludgeonySteve 09-01-2006 12:04 PM

And not 2112?

Atica 09-01-2006 12:38 PM

Yeh, I also like that song but preffer SfN. :)

I wish they would do that too. They also need to throw in the instrumental again. It's probably not going to happen, but we could dream.

BludgeonySteve 09-05-2006 10:22 PM

They changed their sound. And as much as their old sound is better than their new one, I don't think that they personally want to do something like that again.

revolution1 09-07-2006 01:56 AM

Favorite prog rock band along with Pink Floyd
Peart is god
Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and 2112 are the best to get

BludgeonySteve 09-07-2006 07:10 PM

You can't have those without A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres. Those 5 together are the essential Rush albums.
