cheers dude.. u like AX7 they are awesome so rock on bruva...

Cobalt 08-04-2005 05:21 PM

Would this be a good cymbal set?

-14" Sabian AAX stage hats
-17" Sabian AAXplosion crash
-20" Zildjian A Custom Flat top ride

Tim 08-04-2005 05:23 PM

the hats and crash are great choices. dont know about the ride though ive never played on one.

Seafroggys 08-04-2005 05:39 PM

I haven't heard good things about A Custom rides, I'd go with a regular Avedis instead.

Flat tops rides aren't recommended for most situations. They're somewhat more restrained than the average ride and don't project as well.

For bright cymbals like Stage Hats and an AAXplosion, I'd suggest a medium-to-heavy weight ride. How about an AAX Dry Ride?

Cobalt 08-04-2005 10:25 PM

Alright, I'll definately try that out. Thank you.

Tim 08-04-2005 10:29 PM

try some AA rides too. AA lien is good with rides.

Iskandar 08-05-2005 05:06 PM

All professional lines have good rides (and some intermediate lines, too). It's the cymbal, not the line.

stevoibanez 08-06-2005 12:49 AM

Bobby, what weight is the Saturation crash?

Tim 08-06-2005 12:52 AM

its medium thin^

dumbassdrummer 08-06-2005 01:02 AM

I'm looking for a 19" crash that I can ride on that is dark. Any suggestions?

Plan B. 08-06-2005 01:07 AM

I believe it's a medium actually.

Thanks, much love.

aywkubt_tod 08-06-2005 04:20 AM

I'm getting new h-hats soon, and am tossing up between 13" Zildjian K/Z Dyno Beats, and 14" Ufip Rough Series. I play in two bands, a 4-piece metalcore band, and a jazz trio. which hat's'd fit both bands?

this is a serious post by the way. i read it again and thought it sounded rediculous, but i do infact play in both a metalcore band and a jazz trio. i have a rack setup and just pull out a 3 piece with ride, crash and hats for jazzy-times. i learnt on the Ufips, so im biased towards them, but they're really articulate with sticks.. mm.. what are peoples thoughts?

Do you think Virgil would settle for just medium thin?! Do you know how hard that guy hits?!

I refuse to check the Sabian site.

I'll call Virgil on his cell tonight, then we'll see what's up.

red n black 08-06-2005 04:43 PM

Tell him I said Hi.

And ask him if he can join MX.

OR give me his kit.

Plan B. 08-06-2005 06:28 PM

Alright, so here's how the convo went:

Me: Hey Virg, what's up?
Virgil: Hey man! What's up, so great to hear from you, I mean we talk all the time, but still.
M: I know, I know what you mean. We're so sweet.
V: I was listening to some of your playing today, and HOLY CRAP, I was blown away.
M: Really? Thanks alot, I mean it was just some old tapes I had laying around. You know.
V: Yeah, that's awesome.
M: Yeah I know.
V: So, what'd you call for?
M: Well, some people on MX were like "Virgil's crashes are Medium-Thin" and I was like, what the frick? No way, and I said I'd call you to see what is true.
V: Tell 'em they should know better, I never play anything under Medium weight! Do they have any idea how hard I hit?!
M: Yeah I know, clearly they don't. That's what I said too.
V: Anyway, I gotta go watch some movies.
M: Sweet dude, I'll talk to you about some endorsements later, peace bro!
V: Later!

bobby__johnny 08-06-2005 07:21 PM

Plan B. 08-06-2005 07:54 PM

Whatever, I don't care. Take it up with Virgil if you want to.

you need versatility
versatility = AAX stage hats
versatility = New Beats

[QUOTE=stevoibanez]you need versatility

#i dont like sabian cymbals in general because they dont feel right, 2 machined
##New Beats are good, but i tried them and not the biggest fan.

i tried out heaps of hats and narrowed it down to the K/Zs or Rough Series..
