I have a pretty good powertab of all of Echoes. But, it's got like, an unbelievably large number of guitar parts. He's got six different guitars set up, plus a bass. Although, at most 3 of the guitars are playing at any one time, and the keyboard part is tabbed as a guitar, so it probably is possible to play it on one guitar to make it sound decent.

Distant Echoes 01-02-2005 02:21 PM

Ive been working On Another Brick in the wall - All the parts From I - The Happiest Day of our Lives - II - III - since i just got exposed to the magic of Delay on my new amp. I plan on learning echoes very soon, or some of the riffs at least. I read the chords on that funky part from the Dvd and played it and it sounded pretty sweet, but i dont plan on learning the whole song...thats a huge dedication

None of it is too hard. Gilmour doesn't make really complex solos. Nothing much harder than ABITW part 2, which is loads of fun to play.

Gossamer175 01-03-2005 11:18 AM

I recently picked up " A Saucer Full of Secrets". I can't believe how underrated this album is. I especially like Let There Be More Light and Corporal Clegg.

travislausch 01-03-2005 12:04 PM

I got the "The Wall" tab book for Christmas!!!! Yay!!!! It shall provide me with years of playing joy. I've also seen a "Wish You Were Here" book. Do any other Floyd tab books exist?

delicate_sound_of_thunder 01-03-2005 01:35 PM

i have the wall, dsotm, animals, more, obscured by clouds, echoes, amlor, and wywh which album should i get next? i was thinking ummagumma but im not sure

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-03-2005 01:50 PM
Nice collection you've got there. :thumb: I'd say get The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn next, then Meddle, then The Divison Bell. The first two of those in particular are really good stuff, and The Division Bell, although it lacks Roger Waters, has some moments that rank with the very best that the band made. The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn has a very different feel from their later stuff, but every Floyd fan should hear it, if for no other reason than Syd Barrett. Check out some live stuff as well, like Pulse. :)
Anyone other than me perfer Syd Barrett opposed to Roger Waters?

delicate_sound_of_thunder 01-03-2005 03:00 PM

should i get pulse b4 ummagumma or viceversa

Collis 01-03-2005 03:13 PM

I prefer Pulse but both are good .... and I wish I had been at one of the concerts included in that tour .. my Mum and Dad went and said that it was the best concert they have ever been to.

I am going to watch there supposed best tribute act though 'The Aussie Pink Floyd' at the MEN in England this year :D

Alright lets discuss the sax player mullet on Delicate Sound of Thunder.

I start: It is the 8th wonder of the world and possiblely the sickest thing I've seen in my entire life.

 God it is terrible

magicbus 01-03-2005 04:55 PM

I wouldn't know, but I do know that I prefer Ummagumma over Pulse. Its one of my favorite albums. I especially love the earlier style songs that are really long. Its a great album.

delicate_sound_of_thunder 01-03-2005 05:06 PM

thanks

BludgeonySteve 01-03-2005 06:45 PM

Pink Floyd has some great sax parts in their music ;).

DeusExMachina 01-03-2005 06:59 PM

One song I love on The Final Cut is The Gunners Dream, just for that unbelievable transition into the sax solo. It's pants creaming good. I say buying the album was worthwhile, if for nothing other than that song. Although some other songs on it are fairly decent as well.

This guy's mullet takes all the music out of me. It wants to make me die.

TowerOfHendrix 01-03-2005 07:35 PM

I'm not such a fan of their sax stuff, mainly because I hear ripping sax parts in Jazz. But i'd have to say that my favorite song to just sit and listen to is Echoes, but many would disagree due to it's length.

No, man I agree Echoes is one of the best songs of all-time.

I'm sure you'll be hard pressed to find someone in this thread that disagrees about Echoes. And I agree that more impressive sax parts can be found in Jazz, but I just love how well the sax fits in their songs.

Riva 01-03-2005 10:50 PM

The saxophonist for DSOT had the world's greatest mullet. :p

And Echoes is one of everyone's favourites, at least those in this forum. :)

I'm thinking about taking up sax just so I can learn the sax solo in "Money."

So maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but he still has an awesome mullet. Does he have a name or no?

From my album booklet. Sorry about the quality.
Scott Page is his name. :thumb:

magicbus 01-04-2005 02:51 PM

I'd also learn the sax solos in SOYCD and Us and Them, but I won't be taking up sax any time soon. First comes harmonica and piano, and I haven't really started those yet.

And that is one HELL OF A mullet.

Yeah, I was trying to tell everyone about it but hardly anyone (except Gilmour) had seen it.

My brother plays sax. w00t

DeusExMachina 01-04-2005 04:03 PM

I'm definitely going to pick up sax. I already play guitar, bass, cello, and piano, so I want a non-string instrument for my next one.

That is one hell of a mullet.

Is it as bad as Healey's

Riva 01-04-2005 10:30 PM

I played sax for about three years, first alto, then tenor, and a bit of baritone. I haven't touched one for about a year now.

How long you banned for, RnR?

BludgeonySteve 01-04-2005 10:31 PM

was banned for 14 days. Something like 8 left...

How's the album Meddle? Like seriously, I've heard songs off of it but how's it as a whole?

Riva 01-04-2005 10:38 PM

Brillant, if you can handle the dreaminess and laid-back feel. San Tropez is quite good, as is Echoes (all 23 minutes of it). Of course, I am somewhat biased, seeing as I am a Floyd Fanboy.
