I love them all and have nothing against their supposed sellout albums. I love Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings as much as I do RIP and Peace Sells.

ThrashMaster27 02-10-2005 05:16 AM
I am the opposite
RIP and CTE are alot better than peace sells and possibly their worst album
so far, so good, so what? which is very overrated
So Far, So Good....So What? it perhaps the most underrated of Megadeth albums! I can't name one bad song on the thing. I suppose it's opinion, but you think that's their worst album? Jesus...what about Risk and The World Needs A Hero.

actually I havn't heard risk or TWNAH so I can't really pass judgement
I just think that from the Megadeth albums I have heard... all except those two and cryptic writings I think that is the worst I have... that's all

Anyone go to the Astoria gigs? Cheers to Dave for putting on such a great show, something I'll never forget - an excellent performance from all involved (including Diamond Head). And get this, two mates got VIP tickets to meet Mustaine! Bastards, though they did deserve it (one has 26 Megadeth CDs and every vinyl pressing the world has to offer).

nah... went to Glasgow

was brilliant right at the front
dry retched through the break before holy wars due to dehydration...
'deth were amazing
sweating bullets was the best!

I 've got big bastard bruises from the barrier at the front, and a fuzzy sound in my ears......**** tiny venues. I loved Tornado Of Souls&Darkest Hour, and finishing off the 2 hour set with Holy Wars!

I thrashed like a bastard through tornado... that was great

Locks 02-10-2005 05:55 AM

Hangar 18 was good too (I'm a big RIP fan). Not forgetting A Tout Le Monde, and of course Peace Sells (my voice is so hoarse from singing along that you can't hear me when I answer the phone).

Lord Abortion 02-10-2005 06:04 AM
Some words on last night
I was 2 rows from the front near the PA right - centre and my ears are still ringing.
Megadeth were incredible!
highlights included the huge sing- alongs that were a tout le monde and sweating bullets, the cheer that greeted the latter was magnificent...
unfortunately there were some feedback problems on Dave's mike which made some lyrics sound odd at the start...
the best songs were sweating bullets, hangar 18, holy wars, tornado of souls, wake up dead, skin o my teeth, the scorpion ...well they were all bloody amazing
in a tiny venue the atmosphere was brilliant and We went away deafened and happy at the electric performance by Dave and the band
Diamond head supported and were fantastic too ...
For a support band to get a sing along is unusual and at least three is wierd, but we all knew the words to am I evil?, it's electric and blown to pieces...
they later joined 'deth onstage for backing vocals in the superb rendition of Back in the day.
all in all that was an incredible gig and long may they continue!
soory just reposting this for your benefit locks

****! I'm goin' to see Megadeth in 3 days, and just yesterday, I caught the cold of a lifetime. Now my ears are ****ing hurting as hell, and I doubt its gonna be a very quiet concert. GOD****IT ALL!

Where you seeing them? Wherever it is it'll ****ing hurt they play a 2 hour set of full up your *** metal.

Burdcheese 02-10-2005 10:47 AM

Saw them last night... my ears are still ringing, but what did I expect?

In a word: Incredible

Diamond Head were also excellent. I hadn't heard any of their stuff outside of the Metallica covers, but I fully intend to check out some of their CDs now

Having finally seen him in real life, I've decided that Some Kind of Monster really shows Dave in a poor light... he's an awesome guy.

Just a pity this is their last tour :(
this is their last tour??
Maybe. Dave has said he'd like to do more touring in the US, so its up in the air right now. I heard him talk about a tour with Anthrax, Testament, and Exodus. That would be just... incredible.

Last night I had a dream that I met Dave. He was walking down the street and I was in the car with my parents and I was like "Holy shit pull over its Dave Mustaine!" so we stop and he's like, "Hey can you guys give me a ride?" and I'm like "Well we're going to the airport..." and he's like "Okay cool whatever." And then we just talked about the tour and music and it was just an awesome and surprisingly realistic dream. Then at the airport he cut his hair, which I wasn't too happy about, and then I woke up.

shadow_stalker 02-10-2005 12:09 PM

thats an odd dream, but it beats one that one of my friends had.

*will tell it to make poeple laugh* (this was not me)

one of my friends had a dream that he was on stage playing songs with...wait for it...Linkin park!!!

Yeah, one time I dreamt that I won that contest where you send a song in to Dave and he picks the ones he likes and you win a Mustaine signature V, but he delivered it personally and stuck around and we jammed for like a day.

who was that???

vashts80 02-12-2005 01:12 PM

Mmm...in the Philly bootleg that I have, Shawn's drumkit is up on a cage-type thing...anybody know if there's any specific reason for that? I know that the drums are usually raised a bit off the stage, but the cage looks like it's a good 3 feet off the stage.

MAthiAS 02-12-2005 01:24 PM

Hey, I was at that show. I don't think there's a real reason for it, other than it looks freaking cool.

MoX_KIll 02-13-2005 04:04 PM

****ING ROCK!

So I saw Megadeth two days ago... What can I say, it was awesome!

First, Diamond Head took the stage, with some new (and pretty uninteresting) guy singing. However, hearing "The Prince" and "Am I Evil" plyed live is defenitely a ****ing event to remember. They played for about and hour (maybe a little less), and they were pretty good overall. Not great, but def. better than most (their lead guitarist looked like he was 200 ****ing years old, but that guy good really ****ing play. I met up with him after the show and briefly talked about playing and techniques n' stuff)

Then, after a short break, some roadies came onstage (including quite possibly the fattest man I've ever seen :D) to unwrap the amps and gear, including one of the prettiest, coolest, shiniest drum cages ever built.

And then... Megadeth came onstage! Cheers and roars around the house, and then they kicked in with "Blackmail The Universe", which at the end, as a very pleasent surprise, faded into my favorite Megadeth tune of all time, "Set The World Afire". \m/ :)

About five songs into the set, Dave steps up to the mic, and goes: Three years ago, a doctor said I would never play again. Then he raises his leftie into the air and goes "Whaddya think?!" (More roars and cheers from the crowd, of course :))

They played a pretty **** good set, with only two crap songs, and they even managed to get those to sound ****ing awesome.

Anyways, some highlights:

They start to play "Sweating Bullets", and Dave goes (to the crowd): Sing it! And after about two lines, it all turns into one giant mumbling, cuz nobody knows the lyrics (neither did I, I've always hated that song). And it all dies, and Dave goes: .... Man, that sucks! I'll do it... It was ****ing hilarious :D

James' (Bass player) covering Paganini's 24th (I think) and Bach in his bass solo (which was really cool)

Dave dedicating "Of Mice And Men" to Dimebag, a really beautiful gesture, and also the one time during the night when the crowd chanted something other then "MEGA-DETH" (IE, they chanted DIME-BAG instead :D )

Actually hearing Holy Wars live was also pretty ****ing cool. To bad Shawn ****ed up the solo. He's a good guitars, just really not all that innovative on his own.

They had these smaller speakers along the edge of the stage. And Dave had taped his setlist to the top of one. Then, in the midde of a song, the fat roadie comes out and turns them over (thy were sitting up straight, and heturned them over on their broad side so that the crowd could see more) SO during the next song, you saw this skinny roadie guy running out onstage, quickly taping aanother list on the floor next to Dave, and then very quickly runnig backstage again

It was also very cool when Diamond Head came up onstage in the middle of the show and started to sing along with 'Deth. Of course, nowhere near the ****ing noise that came out when the entire ****ing room was singing along/doing some beer-induced chanting during the chorus to "Peace Sells" :D

In the end, the show was a ****ing blast, and except for the low volume on Dave's mic, the band sounded and played great. The only sad thing was that when the show was over, Dave came back onstage and thanked everybody for coming, and then proceeded to let us know that this is the last Megadeth tour. Kinda sux, but oh well, at least I got a cool shirt with me home :D

ArcLite 02-15-2005 05:41 AM

Sounds like a hell of time. Wish I had gotten to see them.
