Efrim 09-26-2006 09:04 PM

Did I? That might have been another kid.....or not. Whatever, let me finish eating then, I'll do it.

DaveSavesTheDay 09-26-2006 09:05 PM

Cool, I'll try a few.

Out of curiosity, why don't you try to get your band signed? I mean, Remember Interstellar > Tmc.

DaveSavesTheDay 09-26-2006 09:14 PM

Okay, I'm out for the usual nightly routine.

Phone with girlfriend for hour then sleep. Later, guys

Remember Interstellar=too inconsistent, and I'm waiting till I have enough good songs recorded for a full length. Then, if worse comes to worse, I can get it distributed digitally.

speaking of which, this guy isn't on the list.
Use him as a last resort though.

ah I see.

I'll check that guy out too. Thanks a lot. You may have single-handedly saved the band, though I don't know why I'm looking for a label.

I'm gonna go to bed and make a song tommorow after school. Later everyone!

Spaceman Spiff 09-26-2006 09:21 PM

I should really get working on some guitar skills, then I don't need to worry about having a band and I'll just write my own sick music. I'd need someone who has an ear for percussion, because drums are a goddamn mystery to me.

HELLonWHEELS 09-26-2006 09:29 PM

what don't you get about drums?

I can do drums, I just can't make satisfying loops.

Spaceman Spiff 09-26-2006 09:32 PM

I don't know, I listen to drummers and think about how cool something sounds, how good or bad it is, but I just haven't got a clue how they do it and make it sound good. Anyone can mess around on guitar or bass for a few minutes and come up with something that's listenable, but to come up with a drum part to a song... I just can't wrap my head around it. It seems way too complicated.

HELLonWHEELS 09-26-2006 09:33 PM

For some reason i can get drums but not guitar or at least chords. There is somthing about playing more thatn 2 two strings at a time that bugs me.

Drums are probably the hardest instrument to start off, just cuz they're completely different from almost anything else. Once you get playing for a little than a year though, a basic beat is extremely easy to make.

After Hobbes should me FL studio i kinda got hooked, I mean i always liked drums but now i think i under stand drums a lot better and I'm sure he would be much better at explaining it. The way i see it is that the kick drum is the base of the drums for everything works from that. I use the snare to either complement the kick drum or vice versa(You can also see it has slaping and pooping, Figure out differant patterns and move the slaps to the kick drum and the pops to the snare). After that you basically fill the sonic holes, you want it sound fil so add a hi hat going at 16th notes and you have a listenable drum beat that easy to play along with.

Moon Flavor 09-26-2006 09:38 PM

screw this, i'm out for the night. Goodnight anyone who sees this

Yeah, I've tried messing around on drum kits several times, I just can't get the hang of it, not even simple stuff.

However, the last one I played on, I blame the drummer for being left handed. :p

I still would have sucked if he was a righty and it was set up the other way... :(

I thought I just lost my dog for awhile there.

HELLonWHEELS 09-26-2006 09:42 PM

can somebody help me with my double thumb. I have it down with the up down pluck on the G string, but i can't seem to get my finger in between any of the other strings plus my thumb sometimes goes thruogh two string instead of just one.

BenJammin 09-26-2006 09:45 PM

Here's my advice for double thumbing:

Don't do it. :)

Why not? Its good to know I mean its not like its useful but its something to practice and who knows i might be able to use it. :p

I suppose. :p I'm not particularly fond of the technique. Maybe it's just because it sounds like ass on my bass. Actually... I think that's totally it.

Efrim 09-26-2006 09:52 PM

I vote nay on Bill 32: Double Thumbing

Jimbobntnr 09-26-2006 09:53 PM

I feel like a gimp when I play drums.

HELLonWHEELS 09-26-2006 09:54 PM

Right now my thumb is voting no as well i'm starting to bleed. I think thats a good sign to stop playing

That's weird, it sounds just fine on mine.

Maybe you're doing it wrong. :p
That's weird, it sounds just fine on mine.

Maybe you should shut up. :upset:

It's probably my amp. My slap tone is infinitely better when recorded, but on my amp, it sounds like barf. And my double thumbing technique is shart too, which I'm sure is half the battle.

HELLonWHEELS 09-26-2006 10:01 PM

I'm at a dissadvantage becuase i don't have a "hitch hikers" thumb so it make parallel slaping and double thumb a bit harder i think
