Well this is a thread for people to post their bands and let people give feedback to it.

Liebensaft 10-06-2007 10:09 PM

My band has a new recording. It's pretty bad quality, but we're workin' on it. It's the song that only has like 5 plays. Also, our song names are all kind of retarded and always just stay whatever we refer to them as soon as they are created at practice.

If anyone cares, we're finally going to record some full-band, electrified Las Cruces tracks tomorrow. I'm so stoked. I'll keep you guys informed.

We have another new song up. It's called "Crazy New Song." All of our songs are named something like that at practice right after their creation, making them easier for us to remember which is which. We don't ever change those names. And that recording is the first time the song has had lyrics, I think.

Oh, and don't click on anything, our site's fucked up and will probably mess up your myspace too if you click stuff that isn't a song.

DemonicRubberDucky 10-26-2007 08:43 PM

I'm starting up a new punk band. Our unofficial name is Just a Thought... . (As in Just a Thought... is our name, with the ... included) We've been in existance for 3 weeks, and we're finishing up on our first song, "Corruption", which i'll put up the lyrics for once i get off my *** cuz i'm pretty tired right now. We have 3 difinite slots:

Vox: Grem (15, F)
Guitar: Evan (16)
Drums: Drew (me) (17)

We're looking around for a bassist and a 2nd guitarist.

Though we haven't recorded anything yet, i can describe our sound...
Imagine taking a bit of pop-punk like the Offspring and Rise Against, mixing in some tech punk like Refused and Underminded, and stirring in a big fat dose of stoner punk/stoner metal like Orange Goblin, the Melvins, Spazz, Life in a Burn Clinic, and Cojoba. And have it all sung by a 15 year old girl with an extremely trebely voice that's pretty good for screaming.

More info to come.
Double post?...

AIRIC 10-26-2007 09:13 PM

Generally when girls are vocalists I will never listen to that particular band again.

El_Shiznit 10-27-2007 12:34 AM

Since this thread was bumped, I might as well.....
Trying to put a band together, but I don't have a vocalist which apparently is hard to find around here because I've run out of ideas for places to advertise for it..... Regardless though, the three of us practice about once a week and the past couple weeks, we've recorded some things. I am aware the quality sucks. Partially because the equipment (if you wanna call it that) is outdated and we are recording in our aluminum walled storage unit.

But I would like some criticism pleeeaase.
http://myspace.com/thermonucleargetdown

a couple things I'm aware of before you post...
- I mess up a few times and so does the drummer, but they weren't so bad that they completely effed up the song and since this isn't final or anything, I decided it was okay for now.
- We haven't recorded the bass for MI4 yet, so as a result you will hear a very long silence a little over halfway through. Insert bass there.
- We have no friends :( I'm not going to tell anyone about it 'til we get vocals in.

So yeah just let me know how the songs were assuming we didn't fsck up. :)

Nerdcore753 10-27-2007 01:36 AM

That was pretty cool shizzy. Looking forward to hearing final versions when you get a vocalist.

I'm trying to get a band started with my friend. So far it's only been us jamming/writing stuff on our own, but we did record some stuff, like this:

http://media.putfile.com/untitled1-99-89

Only guitar and drums in that recording.

Liebensaft 10-27-2007 01:51 PM
Generally when girls are vocalists I will never listen to that particular band again.
That's silly. Plenty of bands have awesome female vocalists.

more like two

The Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs come to mind, but after that, I'd have to think for a bit.

More like I Object and This Is My Fist because the Arcade Fire's singer is a dude and they suck.

Flagjacket 10-28-2007 04:03 PM

are there any bands in this thread that didn't take their name/total aesthetic from an 80's hardcore band.

answer is no

El_Shiznit 10-28-2007 07:18 PM

You say that like it's a bad thing.

You won't be sorry. Maybe. New recordings, mostly from practice. One live, one "studio." I play bass, by the way.

bodysnatcher 11-15-2007 09:53 AM

Not mine as in I don't play in the band but in any othe way...Hell yeah, love them to bits and you should too ;)

I hate street teams and bands with street teams, unless they're big enough that such a thing is worthwhile and practical.

Liebensaft 11-15-2007 07:59 PM

I love when the only post a member has in this thread.

avant_tard 11-21-2007 02:31 PM

Cny

hey, sorry to make this my first post, apparently thats not cool

im living in Ithaca NY right now, and the music scene in this town is completely stale and boring. too much jam rock, eight minute songs with looong pretentious guitar solos, etc. etc. or indie rocker outfits sound like they're taking estrogen

anyway, im putting a band together and I was wondering if anyone knew any central new york clubs/bars/whatever that was sympathetic to hardcore punk music

any help or recommendations much appreciated

Liebensaft 11-21-2007 07:23 PM

You probably won't have as much luck here as in the classified section. They should have pretty region-specific threads. I can't guarantee anyone will help in this thread, but they might there.

Flagjacket 11-21-2007 08:17 PM

if you can't find a hardcore scene in New York you probably live in a gated community and wear a blazer to school.

Liebensaft 11-21-2007 08:26 PM

Nah, I'm pretty sure Ithaca is a place notoriously full of hippies and the like. I could be wrong.

avant_tard 11-22-2007 12:10 AM

ahh yeah. fried out deadheads and the college kids with trust funds who love em. I dont mind the hippie vibe, but when I want to go to a show im not down with grateful dead tribute bands.

Flagjacket 11-22-2007 08:49 AM

I hate the BS Rolling Stone "The 60s were WAY better than any band now" standard white boy that populates my school.

But I mean, being round Central New York you probably know about bands coming out of Syracuse and stuff, I don't know how far apart Ithaca and Cuse are but Syracuse is a good bet for hardcore if memory serves me right.
