Your J p-up seems very close to the bridge, closer than normal, but maybe its harder to tell with the ashtray, what mak is the bass anyway.
The closer the better, as long as you can raise it up high enough.

JoshIsNumber3 08-20-2006 01:15 PM

SOM, do you actively take on projects?

Looks good mtttsnb. What brand is that bass and do you have pics ofit as a whole? I've gotten a body that looks like that one for which I'm going to build a new neck. Thanks.

thats cool.

is that a beer holder in there?

User Name 08-28-2006 09:30 PM

it's a little too big for a can. I tell people it's a handle, like a Jem.

myles 08-28-2006 11:48 PM

i find it ironic that the shirt says ' teenage millionares club ' on it

Polyamarous 08-29-2006 03:46 PM

All part of the joke perhaps?

And yeah, the Bogner KILLS.

purple_hazer 08-30-2006 05:25 PM

hey whats best on a defretted neck? like to cover the wood, i know theres a search, but im that lazy

the101er 08-30-2006 05:48 PM

epoxy resin, usually

almostfallen 10-20-2006 04:15 PM

epoxy will make the fret board kinda hard and a little clack sounding. id go with cyanoacrylate...

purple_hazer 10-20-2006 05:58 PM

what is that exactly and where would one go about aquiring it?

king of suede 10-21-2006 11:22 AM

haven't gotten started yet... plus i have no money.. but!!!

i'm planning on modding a floyd rose bridge to put on my new LTD (maybe i'll get another bass to **** up X-D)

umm... i think it's been done my Les Claypool... but i'm not exactly sure. or if anyone else has done it

but i figure i'll keep you guys posted on my progress (if any :/ )

might be until after new years until i can get any progress (considering the no money problem and being a typical teenage boy procrastination is the word), but in the mean-time, it's just a thought

DO NOT DO THAT... claypool used a bass tremlo. youd probably end up destroying the floyd rose and more than likely your bass. if you want to be like claypool get a kahler bass tremolo.

he does, its a bass whammy, not a guitar whammy on a bass.

chrisroberts1989 10-29-2006 11:31 AM

what a mess / the mattocaster

ive recently completed this project for a friend

what a bloody nightmare

took ages
cost a fortune

spec's :- 24 fret neck, 2 piece ash body with poplar top, 1 unnamed humbucker, 1 kent armstrong humbucker, 1 quadrail mother bucker, single/series/parallel switching on each pickup, individual on/off switches, 1 volume control.
bi-colour led's blue/yellow (never again).
floyd rose bridge

surprisingly, it played really well as soon as it was put together, with little adjustment needed to the neck relief or intonation.

oh yeah, painted with halfords 'appliance white' paint

and for my next project, go here http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13536902&posted=1#post13536902

Miek 10-30-2006 12:38 AM

That's beast nig.

mnemonic 10-30-2006 04:38 AM

haha, that guitar makes me laugh.

because of all the swiches, and the clearness. pretty cool tho, how you made it all and shaped it and what not.

dunno if i posted this in here or not, but hey, i drilled some holes, and changed some stuff. namely the dimarzio tone zone in the bridge

that writing isn't actualy still on there, thats just the only picture i have right now

CCR91 10-30-2006 11:55 AM

I'm considering building my own custom as my next guitar.

basically:

-Carvin 7 string through-body neck http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=NT7&CID=GTR/K
- Mahogany wings (maybe a strat shape)
-quilt maple veneer on the body, and headstock
-possibly ivory binding
-string through bridge
-dimarzio pups
-locking tuners

now the colour, a light transparent blue. Almost similar to like a PRS royal blue.

secks y/n?

EMG 81 bridge
Sharkfin inlays
Maple Fingerboard.
Licensed Flord Rose tremolo
22 Frets Jumbo frets.
Gotoh chrome tuners

im currently refinishing this now since this had a lousy finish. Also had it reshaped. POst it as soon as im done.
I want to do this, only make the guitar lefty and model it after a Gibson Flying V (for the more 'classic' look) ... and then get a Marshall Mini Stack with that Bogner head.

It'd be fun to have all my gear be miniaturized.

Hey guys, here's a guy who's guitar designs you might like. They look like nice guitars and probably pretty good in self defense situations too :)
