They also reuse some of the backing music of Comfortably Numb on "The Final Cut"(song)
NP: Comfortably Numb Heh, this is the first time I have listened to the studio version of the song in a long time. I always listen to one of the live versions instead. |
Think Vera, Bring the boys back home, and Nobody Home.
Not a very good way of describing it. |

It is the best I can do at comparing other Floyd songs to it. It is war themed like Vera and Bring the Boys back home, and is at times more piano driven like Nobody home. |

True, but he might have misinterpreted your post as saying that the album sounds like Bring the Boys Back Home (which would make for a terrible album). Basically, if I had to sum up the album, it would be sort of like this: There's a lot of soft singing on the album and plenty of acoustics and piano. There's a couple more rocking songs, such as "Not Now John", which shares similarities to Run Like Hell. It's kind of hard to explain. I recommend checking it out for yourself to see if you like it or not. |
I used to be very vocal about TFC being bad. Now, I like it quite a bit. I still say it's weaker than TDB, though.
|
I don't like the fact that Waters took over the band.
I couldn't agree more man. But you know what? I don't see lots of evidence of anyone else trying to hard...please correct me if I'm wrong. I know Waters and Gilmour fought quite a bit over it...but I don't think much really came of it |
The Final Cut is good, and if you do like it, check out Amused to Death. It's one of Roger's solo albums.
|
I agree. AMLOR has that typical 80's sound.. I like it, it's classic, but TDB > AMLOR by far.
I love Wearing The Inside Out, Lost For Words and Keep Talking the most probally. I really like the whole album .. :P
I love "Lost For Words' |
Well, I like it. I don't know what you mean by Waters era Floyd, as he was with them for every studio album except for AMLOR and TDB.
Yeah but I don't really consider PATGOD and SOS Waters era, I was talking more about Meddle-The Wall. Yeah, it's a slow album. Lots of sax, paino, etc.
|
Meh, I personally don't like it a bit. Its overly dull, and tries to much to top The Wall, or at least thats how I see it. The Gunners Dream is very good though, and When the Tigers Broke Free is phenomenal.

Why do you all think the big 3 albums are played so much on the radio?
Why do you all think the big 3 albums are played so much on the radio?
They're the most accessable and frankly, they're the best, except for the wall. |
Alice Cooper plays alotta older Floyd on his show. It's cool to hear see emily
play on the radio. |
They're the most accessable and frankly, they're the best, except for the wall.
Yeah, and definitely the most well known. Songs like Comfortably Numb and Time receive a much greater response than say Bike or The Gnome would.
Alice Cooper plays alotta older Floyd on his show. It's cool to hear see emily play on the radio.
Thats cool. On this classic rock station around where I live they play Have a Cigar and Time occasionally but that's about it. |
Because they aren't weird as all ****.
|
My radio station plays Run Like Hell. A lot. I like the song, but I don't understand why they play it so much. Every Tuesday they have a "2 for Tuesday" thing that's Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb every single time.
|
Yeah...thats why I don't listen to the radio much anymore.
|
Yeah, and definitely the most well known. Songs like Comfortably Numb and Time receive a much greater response than say Bike or The Gnome would.
But these songs were not made with the intention of popularity or receiving airplay. |
I know, I was just using those as examples against the more popular and radio friendly Floyd songs.
|
My radio hardly even plays PF ... PF is rare in Holland :(
|
I have KZEP 104.5 if you all want a really good station I'm sure they broadcast
online. It's a great staion. When my Dad lived here (as a kid) he would listen to them. They have the roots and they do a good job with the music they play but still mostly just songs from the big three albums |
I wouldn't mind hearing Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb all the time on the radio. :)
|
I found a torrent with all "The Wall" demos on it. Unfortunately, no one is seeding :-/

Where? |
What happened to the old thread?
Anyway, I bought Relics on vinyl a few days ago, but when I came home I came to the conclusion that instead of the Relics vinyl it had the A Collection Of Great Dance Songs vinyl inside... And that's kind of stupid actually, I hope I can return the album to the shop. When I was digging in the crates in that shop I saw some Pink Floyd albums I never saw before. I assume they're bootlegs but I would like to know what they are. One was called Kabe, forgot the names of the others. Can anyone give me some clarity in this? |

'Run Like Hell' is the secks |
Run Like Hell is decent. It's one of my least favorite songs on The Wall.

I personally like it a bit, but its simply amazing from A Delicate Sound of Thunder or Pulse. The drums really ruin it for me on the studio version... Since my parent's new car has satellite radio, I get to listen to songs like Echoes and Dogs on my radio. |

Thanks a bunch. |
Run Like Hell on DSOT is the greatest version you can get. :D

Thanks a bunch.
No prob, sent. Speaking of sending stuff, thanks to whoever sent out the Madcap Laughs. |
I love that album. It's been on at least two amiling lists in the last month
or so |
Run Like Hell on DSOT is the greatest version you can get. :D
lies I prefer the "Is there anybody out there" version or the "United we Stand, Divided we Fall" version |
I love that album. It's been on at least two amiling lists in the last month
or so
Ha I thought I had already sent that out once before. I like the Run Like Hell version off DSOT best, but I prefer Pulse to DSOT as a whole. The version on Is There Anybody Out There is good as well, probably in between DSOT and Pulse for me. |
Prism's version is also acceptable.
|
I'm listening to Dark side of the Moon as I type this and it's just such an Amazing album! wow.... I recently saw this AWESOME Show called "The Pink Floyd experience" Done by a company from New Zealand I think.... They did their songs Perfectly! It was excellent! I wish I could've seen the real Pink Floyd....:upset:
