Last Night was the final show on this tour, and it was really a lot of fun. The only minor disappointment was that the Chariot dropped off the tour, so I didn't get a chance to see them play.

[B]The Esoteric[/B]
I'd never heard of these guys before last night, but they were actually pretty good. I don't think the crowd knew them much either though, because they were pretty calm through the whole set.

[B]The Red Chord[/B]
These guys were pretty wild. Their set was really cool, and they managed to get a huge pit going. Even though I didn't really know their music, I liked them a lot.

[B]High On Fire[/B]
Another band that I had never heard of before last night. I didn't think their set was that great, because the guitar completely drowned out the vocals, making the set seem like a completely instrumental. The guitarist was extremely talented though.

These guys were playing about an hour away from their hometown, and they put on an excellent show. Part of the set was being taped, which was pretty cool, and the whole set was impressive. The venue was completely full when they came on, and it was impossible to move. They played a good mix of old and new music, and the crowd was awesome. It was really a great show.

I missed Every Time I DIe when they came to Dallas. I was very upset.

That sucks. They are from here (Buffalo) but they had to play in Rochester because there wasn't a venue for them to play around here. So I had to travel an hour to see them, but it was worth it.

I went to Kisschasy, All-American Rejects and Simple Plan last night, and it was awesome :D Far better than I expected.

The show I went to tonight ended up being one of the oddest experiences of my life. It was totally bizarre, all because of one band. Anyway, here's a recap:

[B]Rad Affairs[/B]
These guys were the first to play, and although I had never heard of them before, they were quite enjoyable. They had some major technical difficulties at the start of their set however, and it took about 20 minutes to get everything sorted out. Once they got back to playing they were really pretty good.

[B]Infamous[/B]
Basically, they guys fu[I][b][/I][/b]cking sucked. Their music wasn't much good, and they were total pricks. Here's why:

After playing about 5 or so songs, the bassist announced that they had three more songs left, but the sound guy at the club told the band they only had time for one. This apparently made the bassist mad, because he said that the sound guy couldn't stop them from playing, and that he would go after him if he did.

So after the band finished their next song, the sound guy turned off their mikes, signaling the end of the set, at which time the bassist jumped off the stage and sprinted toward the sound booth, along with the lead singer. He then jumped up on to the sound board, and the club was in a bit of chaos. There was quite a bit of shouting and screaming going on as well.

The bassist also took a bunch of shots at some of the more well-known promoters around here, and basically told everyone to "fu[I][b][/I][/b]ck off".

[B]Rivalry[/B]
After the whole incident was cleared up, these guys took the stage. I've seen them once before, and they are really pretty good. They lightened up the mood and the club, and refocused everyone's attention on the excellent music that was up ahead.

[B]Marathon[/B]
There is really only one way to describe these guys; fu[I][b][/I][/b]cking awesome. There set was absolutely incredible. I knew the majority of their songs, and I had a ton of fun throughout the whole set. The lead singer spent most of the time in the crowd, instead of on stage, too. Overall, these guys were the best band to play, and one of the better bands I've seen in a while.

[B]Dead Hearts[/B]
These guys were really good too. They are from around here, and most of the people in the crowd seemed to know every word to every song. They had a ton of energy, and they really got the crowd going.

So anyway, that was my adventure for the night. Aside from the one incident, it was really an excellent show.

That sounds really sweet I bet Marathon was really sweet.......that is crazy dude I would've been so pissed at that bassist I would've like got a gun and shot that guy.

Darkbuster:
Like all the openers, I had no familiarity with this band, but they were surprisingly good for the first band up. Played a lot of Punk to open, but also threw in some ska towards the end. They were good, but not $10 CD good, tempted though I was to hear them on album. I'll try to download it. Also, the chick guitarist/keyboardist was fairly good looking, so that's always a plus. Played a 30 minute or so set which was the perfect length for them, I could see myself getting bored with them after awhile but the short set worked to their favor and made it very enjoyable, I definitely plan to check them out.

Lost City Angels:
These guys would have been so much better with a 30 minute set, the extra 15 minutes pushed them into the broing area unfortunately. High high energy, definitely got the crowd into it, but unfortunately the songs were all the same in a bad way. Not a Bad Religion or Ramones way. The singer was also one of the most scene people ever. I could have sworn it was a clone of the guy from My Chemical Romance. The rest of the guys fit the Punk image well enough though, so the singer really stood out. He did his job well though so not really a complaint against him. The band needs a more uniform image though.

Ganggreen:
So hearing this band I immediately thought old school Hardcore. Turns out DKM brought them out of retirement (or something like that) to tour with one of their musical heroes. The guys in DKM were saying they listened to these guys when they were 14/15, so obviously it is quite old school, but it was very good. The frontman is a very gifted musician. Though I'm not a fan of old Hardcore so much, I thoroughly enjoyed this show. One of the guys from DKM even came out and sang with them for a song. I probably won't look into them more, but they're very good.

Dropkick Murphys:
These guys rocked. Drunken pits aren't the best of times, and frankly the scent of alcohol was so cloying and strong I felt like I was at some party. And plenty of people were wasted like they were. Drunk bitches are so annoying. Anyways, once the show started it was great, high energy and the crowd was into it the whole time, only Dillinger Escape Plan's crowd beat the intensity of this crowd as far as I can recall. Good mix of slow and fast stuff too to keep it interesting. I wish I had more of their CDs as I didn't know many of the songs they played. Oh well, still a blast. Oh, and the encore was probably the best I've ever seen. They come out and play a song, then invite girls on stage to dance, and probably 50-100 come up. They play a song or two like this, then invite anyone to come on stage. The stage is packed to capacity, and this is a huge huge stage. Probably a few hundred people up there. They play more and the guy from Ganggreen joins them and sings with them, and then they close with a cover of AFI's cover of Halloween. God that was incredible. Great encore performance. Blew away the rest of their show easily.

Good band, you're a really lucky man. You should really remember this as they are a class Boston band, of course not as good as Siege. This music is a kick in your balls! Almost sets the stage on fire with their totally rad pyrotechnics! And the singer/screamer was screaming so hard i almost blew his pulmonary veins.

When we heard that these guys were coming to the blitzhouse in Oslo we ditched school imediatly and ordered tickets 2 days before the show. I've never believed that they could get so many people into a that small of a room. One guy even fainted because of the lack of oxygen, but it was worth it. No moshpits though, the room was too crowded so we did'nt get able to move to much.

The New Trust:
My favorite of the three openers was surprisingly (and sadly) first. Comprised of two guys and two chicks, it was a pretty odd looking band at first. However, save Minus the Bear, this was probably the most talented group in the venue tonight. The drummer (chick) was extremely talented and that was definitely the first thing that drew my attention as a drummer, but all the musicians were very competent and skilled on their instruments. It had cool off beat rhythms and was pretty technical sounding. Plus tapping riffs and all that sort of thing. If I hadn't come ill prepared and broke I definitely would have picked up one of their five dollar CDs. This was also their last show on this tour, and Minus the Bear brought them several shots throughout their set and it seemed like a good time all around. They ended on a good note. I plan on looking to find some of their music somewhere.

Criteria:
The highlight of this band was definitely the bassist. The crowd named him "Socrates" from the moment he walked on stage due to his immense beard and bald top, with long hair on the sides to match. Plus the guy looked to be a good 30 years older than all the other members of the band. He rocked. Good bassist/singer too. The music itself was pretty bland modern rock. Not exactly boring, but pretty generic so that I was ready to have them let the next band on fairly quickly.

Headphones:
Interesting band. Comprised of a drummer and a keyboardist/vocalist. That was it. Played fairly good music. Not my style, but definitely well composed and worth checking into if you're into lots of synthesizer and laid back indie style rock/"emo." I definitely enjoyed them more though standing for slow bands is less than awesome. The singer also seemed on the verge of tears a few times which was kind of weird and "emo" of him. Nonetheless they played a good entertaining set, I just wish I'd had a chair.

Minus the Bear:
Not as good as I expected them to be. Definitely a lot of fun, but not very high energy from the band. Also the last show I went to with such a low energy crowd was Dredg, and that had a lot more energy than this one. The sole exception was this one guy, who was frankly a douche and in his quest to have a rockin' time tried to start a mosh from the start of the show to the end and clearly everyone around was pissed. I'm all for having a good time...but don't ruin other people's experience. It's Minus the Bear, and he was acting like it was Dillinger Escape Plan. I think he got his shows mixed up. Anyways, the band. I wish I was 21 so I could have gone to the bar and sat down, because there was really no energy in the crowd, and I think that detracted from the show, but the music was good and these guys are very talented. Too bad the crowd has such an effect on how good the show is.

Last night I went to see the [B]Before The Blackout After the Breakup[/B] tour. It was really a lot of fun.

[B]Jettasen[/B]
I hadn't heard these guys before, but they were pretty good. Nothing spcial, but still fun.

[B]Houston Calls[/B]
This is my second time seeing these guys, and I really enjoy them. They put on a pretty cool show.

[B]Fenix TX[/B]
As most of you probably know, Fenix TX has been broken up for a while now, but has returned for this final tour. I haven't been listening to these guys for long, but I still wanted to go and see them, as I probably won't get another chance. Anyway, they didn't disappoint their whole set was excellent.

During their last song, they let eveyone in the crowd go up on the stage to sing along while they played. It was incredible to be on stage with these guys, and a great way to end their set. So awesome...

[B]Allister[/B]
These guys were a lot of fun as well. They played a good mix of music from each of their albums, and their whole set was great. They had a lot of energy, and even managed to get a circle pit started during "None of My Friends are Punks", even though there were only maybe seventy kids a the show. Overall, they were pretty cool.

I Saw them at Oslo Spektrum. They we're touring with their Sing the Sorrow album.

Valiant Thor:
This was a surprise band as they weren't listed on any of the listings for this show, and it was apparently their last show on this tour. They seemed to be good friends with Strung Out too, but I'll talk about that in Strung Out's review. As to their music, it seemed a little out of place on a Punk tour, but it was good, sort of an 80's style metal band. Attire included. All of them were very talented musicians though, the lead guitarist was insane and the drummer was very good too. The frontman was also maybe the ballsiest I've ever seen. Obviously as the first of five bands, the crowd was still small and not really getting into the music, so the guy jumps the barricades and starts pulling people down to the front and then starts giving a speech as if he were going to start a riot (and really he didn't totally fail at that). Then he gets the crowd real into it and goes back on stage, but this man was all over the place. Very entertaining to watch. I wasn't compelled to buy a CD though.

Section 8:
I've already started to forget these guys unfortunately, not that they were that bad, but they weren't that good either. The music was enjoyable enough and I think it had some potential, but it's still in its infancy. It was kind of Hardcore, but not super intense or anything. Enjoyable but forgettable.

A Wilhelm Scream:
Man, this band was sooo fun. I'm not sure if I was looking forward to these guys or Strung Out more, but they certainly put on a great show. The small crowd that was there at the time was also full of fans and so it was pretty fun, but man, if these guys can get a big crowd that enjoys them, that would be great fun. Totally worth seeing again. Good set list too, played some of my favorites. I wish they'd had more time. In fact if they had switched slots with Stretch Arm Strong this would have been an even better show. Oh, and the singer was wearing a The Kinison shirt. That made me smile.


Stretch Arm Strong:
Let me take a minute to reiterate how much I hate Hardcore dancing. Two-stepping is the bastard child of skanking and looks a million times stupider. Flailing your arms and legs trying to kill people is even stupider. Barring the terrible crowd (of Hardcore dancers) this band was decent though. I knew they were Hardcore beforehand, and the dancing gave it away too, but really I couldn't even see it until the end of their set. They were easily the least energetic band of the night and the least technically talented. By the end it was pretty easy to get into the music, but honestly for most of their set I was wondering two things: "How is this classified as Hardcore, even at a stretch?" and "When will their set be over?" Still, I think I may download an album just to see if it'll grow on me like it did during the set.

Strung Out:
Yay. What a fun time this band was. I need more of their CDs I didn't know about 40% of what they played, but since I own most of their recent stuff, that's really cool because it means they were playing their old stuff. The set was lots of fun and most of the crowd was singing along the whole time. There were also several people filming it. It'd be neat if they were filming it for a video of some sort but I doubt it. Jason was literally dripping with sweat 2 songs in. That's how much the band was putting into the show, and it was great. During the show Valiant Thor came back out and danced with Strung Out and on their last song pre-encore Valiant Thor's drummer played with the band for about half a song. It was totally goofy but cool a the same time. It just goes to show what a bunch of great guys Strung Out are. As a bonus, after their encore I got to meet Rob and Jake as they wandered along the barricade. Both totally friendly guys and totally into their fans. When I told Jake what an influence the band was to me as a musician he came right up and hugged me and told me how much it means for them to be sharing their music and stuff, and it was really cool. Totally great guys and they were still hanging out meeting fans when I left. I think that's really cool. Lots of bands get big and forget their fans, but these guys were talking to guys about everything and anything and really loving it. That's so great.

SAS's older stuff is supposed to be 10x better. I wouldn't know because I never really got into them, but that's what I've heard. Their new stuff is kind of boring.

Peacocks are really good from what i've heard and seen, i've been meaning to get their album for a while now
