xFEAR-AND-LOATHINGx 04-01-2006 10:19 PM

they're pop-esque but i wouldnt put them in the same catagory as mxpx or simple plan kinda bands

Oz Rembrandt 04-03-2006 05:52 AM
That's because Mike doesn't showcase it as openly as Matt...for one thing. It's easier to gauge skill when it's wide open and out there.
I guess so. Matt plays solo's alot, whereas Mike plays some great basslines, while singing, so its less noticable.

holy_roller99 04-03-2006 10:46 AM

he does it a lot on the albums but i have seen some live stuff where he cant do it so well. like on the dvd he does Kill all the White man while speaking and is having a very hard time

Jetpack 04-03-2006 10:57 AM

I think fat mike is a great bassist, he's got some insane riffs and some dead easy ones as well, but as I agree that he's better than Matt from rancid, i'm probably biased as I never really got into rancid.... :o

DaveToopes 04-03-2006 10:59 AM

What about Operation Ivy? You HAVE to check them out if you haven't already. Matt was their bassist too.

holy_roller99 04-03-2006 11:00 AM

yeah he was under a different name. Matt Freeman is a better bassist then Fat Mike but Mike is a vocalist too so it is understandable.

minorthreat123 04-10-2006 08:02 PM

NoFX is really good and i have some of their albums but i wound't consider them pop-punk.

wicky428 04-11-2006 09:27 AM

Good band profile, very informative :thumb: .

TakeWarning 04-11-2006 09:32 AM

New album should be good.

Drop The Baby 04-11-2006 05:36 PM

New album will be amazing, check out the new mp3 on fatwreck.com

holy_roller99 04-12-2006 11:09 AM

i heard the new album was mostly stuff from the 7" of the Month Club.

belvedere86 04-12-2006 11:22 AM

im listening to the new album Wolves in Wolves' clothing right now!

holy_roller99 04-12-2006 11:27 AM

is it any good. i am guessing it is not the best they have ever done.

belvedere86 04-12-2006 11:31 AM

its pretty good imo. there's even a song in mexican or dunno what language.

belvedere86 04-12-2006 11:40 AM

the song Doornails is a tribute to Derrick Plourde (lagwagon), Boomer, jason sears

Matas 04-12-2006 01:46 PM

NOFX are good, except for Franco-Unamerican.
I bought the ''Never Trust a hippy'' EP a couple of weeks ago, its awsome.
The song Seeing Double at the Triple Rock is great.

AIRIC 04-12-2006 02:24 PM
its pretty good imo. there's even a song in mexican or dunno what language.
A song in Mexican? Are you kidding me?

FauxApathy 04-12-2006 02:44 PM

Hahaha.

A song in spanish. Mexican isn't a language.

Weezerfan_returns 04-12-2006 11:09 PM
im listening to the new album Wolves in Wolves' clothing right now!
is You're Wrong on there? Not the acoustic one, the version with the whole band. They played it when I saw them in Chicago and it sounded great

belvedere86 04-13-2006 12:32 AM

Nahuatl or Nawatl (pronounced in two syllables, NA-watl ['na.watɬ]) is a term applied to some members of the Aztecan or Nahuan sub-branch of the Uto-Aztecan language family, indigenous to central Mexico. Under the "Law of Linguistic Rights" it is recognized as a "national language" along with 62 other indigenous languages and Spanish which have the same "validity" in Mexico [1]

However, it also serves to identify a number of modern Nahuatl varieties (some mutually unintelligible) of the Nahuatl dialect complex that are still spoken by at least 1.5 million people in what is now Mexico. All of these dialects show influence from the Spanish language to various degrees, some of them much more than others. No modern dialects are identical with that of Classical Nahuatl, but those spoken in and around the Valley of Mexico are generally more closely related to it than are peripheral ones.

fatpunk 04-13-2006 05:59 AM

their new song is bad, I mean really bad.
[you can download it from www.fatwreck.com]. I like their old stuff

Drop The Baby 04-17-2006 05:24 PM

100 Time F'uckeder?

That song is amazing.

Flagjacket 04-17-2006 05:31 PM

I heard Seeing Double At The Triple Rock and thought it was okay.

Drop The Baby 04-17-2006 05:38 PM

The video's pretty jokes, i'm half way through watching it now.

It takes a while to load

Weezerfan_returns 04-17-2006 06:33 PM
NOFX are good, except for Franco-Unamerican.
If anyone has the album So Long and Thanks For All the Shoes, listen to the song Quart In Session. It's so similar to franco unamercian. Keep in mind this album came out in '97.

Weezerfan_returns 04-17-2006 06:33 PM

I thought the new song 100 Times ****ed'er was pretty good.

_JR 04-18-2006 04:49 PM

instant crassic made me laugh for awhile. right in the middle of a verse, wtf?

Drop The Baby 04-18-2006 05:53 PM

Man, this new Cd is simply blinding. Superb, could be their best work

AIRIC 04-18-2006 06:07 PM

I don't think so man.

Drop The Baby 04-18-2006 06:14 PM

I love it to be honest. Really, in all honesty i don't really see where the negative comments are coming from. Songs live Seeing Doublke, Getting High On The Downlow etc are brilliant.

Come on!

AIRIC 04-18-2006 06:19 PM

It's just not very good compared to earlier NOFX like Ribbed

Drop The Baby 04-18-2006 06:24 PM

Early NOFX is blinding, there's no doubt. I just think that this is a return to the SLATFATS/Punk In Drublic days, after Pump Up The Valuum and WOE.

Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinions, especially you cos i know you're not an idiot.

AIRIC 04-18-2006 06:33 PM

Haha, thanks. It just seems like on later albums like this and War On Errorism NOFX was kind of reaching to be funny if you know what I mean. On Ribbed and Punk in Drublic NOFX were fresh.

TakeWarning 04-18-2006 11:06 PM

I think it's pretty good, not their best though.

Weezerfan_returns 04-18-2006 11:25 PM

i ordered it yesterday. i can't wait for it to come in the mail, with my FREE nofx bottle opener.

Mike Rakhabit 04-19-2006 08:13 AM

I love this album. All awesome songs, didn't order through fat wreck though so i don't get all the free **** (pretty pissed about that). I would recomend all the songs

Weezerfan_returns 04-19-2006 10:06 AM

so i take it "you're wrong" isn't on there. FUCK

I saw them in March, and they played it fast, with the whole band. On the Hippy EP it's acoustic... but the full version sounded so cool.... oh well.

Purr 04-20-2006 04:30 PM

Old NOFX, good they had some political stuff in their older songs, but it wasnt an overload..great music, good classic punk at its best. (white trash, punk in drublic, ribbed, just straight up good)

New NOFX (mainly war on errorism) - Though the sound doesnt bother me, the whole political thing kills me... appeals to 7th grade kids with anarchy patches on their bookbags and spiked hair that falls down cause they couldnt afford good wax, and pretend to know about george bush, the end.
