can someone tell me how they can listen to this crap?

granted..i've only heard the fall out boy songs i've heard on the radio or have seen on mtv but this is embarrassing music folks.

when i first saw their video i thought it was a parody about the pop punk genre.
I think the reason people listen to it is because that's what they enjoy. Everyone has different tastes.

In the case of Fall Out Boy, they attract a wide variety of people because their songs tend to be very catchy (especially the one's that are played on the radio/MTV). If you don't like it, don't listen to it, but also don't go around questioning other people's choice of music. Everyone likes different things, deal with it.

If i had no shame I could be doing what Fall Out Boy does. Lots of people can. As musicians(and listeners) we are inherently critical for good reason . Art demands to be critiqued and bad art deserves to be ridiculed.Deal with it.

Firecracker 08-25-2005 05:15 AM

Is he that slow at reading? lol

I read the Dream Theater and Iron Maiden FAs in R&M yesterday, but they are already in archives so i couldn't post.

All music doesn't have to be art nutkick. Before you criticize a band, listen to the songs other than whats on the radio. Dont prejudge something you know nothing about. People can listen to whatever they want, because if they like it, they will. I happen to love Fall Out Boy for their simplicity, just like I love other bands for their intriquicy. I honestly doubt you will change anyone's mind by saying that the band sucks, because once again that is your opinion. Get over yourself man.

REAL_FOB/TBS/BN_FAN 08-25-2005 09:29 AM

any one who says fall out boy is simplistick should not be talking, unless u can write better lyrics than pete and patick, u cant say much about simpicity, they are the best of both worlds, deep meaningful songs, and catchy music, what band has that blend perfectly. Blink had the catchy riffs, but no lyrical content, Thursday had the content, but there songs were to complex for the evryday listener, the only bands that can even stand up to FOB in the category of blend of music and lyrics is TBS. I kno what your saying, TBS isnt good, well aparently they are or they wouldnt have made it through the NY scean and made it mainstream. I have been with these bands since they started and am happy and sad for them when they hit it big, but FOB deserves it, they worked hard and they proved that u can sound pop in music but when u look up the lyrics or actully LISTEN to a song closely, these are the most clever lyrics since.......im almost gunna have to say ever

B 08-25-2005 09:48 AM
*Long paragraph full of grammatical and spelling errors*
He was implying that their music was simplistic. Not the lyrical content. Besides, if you want complex/"deep meaningful" lyrics, try bands like Circle Takes The Square, Coheed & Cambria, and as you said, Thurday. I for one enjoy complicated lyrics. Some people don't. It's opinion. But in my opinion and I'm sure most others, Fall Out Boy does not, in anyway, have the best lyrics ever.

REAL_FOB/TBS/BN_FAN 08-25-2005 10:15 AM

o sir, i agree, i was mispoken when i said they had the best lyrics every, i purely ment to say that they had more complex lyrics than most bands with there sound. I have checked out thoes bands u posted and like them all, im very diverse in my music from pop-punk, to hardcore, to jazz blues so on and so forth, go**** i even like billy joel, i was pointing out the fact that some people hate on Fall Out Boy, bucause they have such a a prejudice for pop-punk because of the either sillyness or shallowness of there lyrics dont stop to listen to, in my opinon, the biggest up and comming pop-punk band since Green Day hit the people of suburbia, thats saying alot since i adore what Green Day did for pop-punk music

REAL_FOB/TBS/BN_FAN 08-25-2005 10:18 AM

and i kno i write to much but im sick of people telling me i dont kno **** bout music, im a punk stuck in a black preps body, so whenever i get a chance to show my knowldge to people that would normaly think i listen to Simple Plan  i go a little over board

I was more implying that it was full of spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. You will be taken more seriously on the forums if you spend the time to type properly.

Real TBS Fan or whatever. What's your favorite song off of "FOB's Evening Out With Your Girl"? Just asking. I said I happen to love FOB for their simplicity, trust me kid, their guitar work is very simple. A band doesnt have to be crazy go wild with their instruments to make an impact.

ok dude, sorry, but i guess u thought i was taking a stab at you. I wasnt but i get kinda mad when people say fall out boy is just another simple dinky pop-punk band, and to me thats what it sounded like you where callin them. My fualt, we are prob both huge FOB fans and shouldnt be divided but united with eachother agaisnt haters and fakes who claim to know them just by "Sugar were going down"

as far as "Evening Out with your girl" Pretty in Punk is good, but my fav is #8 "Moving Pictures" even though like alot of people who are from the south i was first exsposed to this amazing bad with "Take This to Your Grave" but i have no shame in that because i went and bought "Evening out with your Girl" 5 days after hearing "TTTYG"

whats your fav FOB song of all time, mine has to be "Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" its clasic and acustic, what more can u ask

DepthsOfDreams555 08-25-2005 03:27 PM

Man, I don't know what you were talking about earlier about Taking Back Sunday being no good but that doesn't matter. Don't get me wrong I love Fall Out Boy and all the other bands that are included in your name. I have liked them also since they got started, I hate posers to, people that think they know Fall Out Boy just cause they listen to the radio and here "Sugar Were Goin Down" I just think that you shouldn't worry about that in here, and also just be open-minded to everyone elses comments, and don't think the bands you like are perfect. I'm also not trying to smash on you or anything. Just trying to tell you what I think.

Also haha my favorite Fall Out Boy song is Chicago is So Two Years Ago.

The Crowing 08-25-2005 03:35 PM

"Tell That Mick..." here.

o dude no problem, i think i confused a few people with my thing on TBS. I was trying to make a point, but it came out wrong. Im very open minded to others comments, ive been reading these threads for the past 2 years and jus today decided to join in the fun. Sorry if i seemed like i was downing other comments, not my intention at all

Great song pick, being a fan i kno how hard it must be to pick just one song to love from this group

DepthsOfDreams555 08-25-2005 03:40 PM

Ya, well its really good to have you man.

Angry Balled Fists! 08-25-2005 03:40 PM

REAL_FOB/TBS/BN_FAN 08-25-2005 03:49 PM

Then you better have alot of dogs, because alot of people like Fall Out Boy.

REAL_FOB/TBS/BN_FAN 08-25-2005 04:17 PM

i kno, its getting wierd, 2 years ago no one knew of them, now i got girls who wouldnt get near pure volume to find a band qouteing them in their AIM profile, its gettin scary, but as long as they keep true, ill love them till the end

The Crowing 08-25-2005 04:28 PM

Yeah, I hate their fake fans, but whatever. Can't stop it from happening, as long as they stay true to their older fans I'll be ok with whatever path they happen to follow.

Japan3gro 08-28-2005 11:21 PM

They just won an mtv award too so .....watch out lol

Masters03 09-30-2005 11:35 PM

chumpradio 10-01-2005 04:00 AM

Seeing as this thread has been bumped, and I have surprisingly not posted in it yet, I will say how much I love Fall Out Boy.

I love Fall Out Boy. Great band, great lyrics, great music. I've really been digging "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me". Really fun to play on guitar.

Fish 10-01-2005 07:15 AM

i have their latest CD, not bad, but not my favorite pop-punk band. Im going to see them tomorrow though at nintendo fusion!!! :D

DepthsOfDreams555 10-01-2005 07:34 AM

Ahhh man I wish I got to go to NFT its going to be sweet they have good bands going to be there I was supposed to go but everything is selling out.
:D ill tell you ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL about it ;)
Ya I bet you will.....I still might be going in Grand Rapids so don't get to cocky.

Fish 10-01-2005 08:19 AM

hahah, *gets cocky*

chumpradio 12-29-2005 05:51 PM

Bumped, because I have a question, and this is better than making a whole new thread.

Can anyone send me Fall Out Boy's song's "Snitches And Talkers Get Stitches And Walkers" and "We Don't Take Hits, We Write Them"?
I really want to hear good quality versions of them, but can't. I want to read the lyrics to the first, as I hear that's the final title of "I Liked You A Whole Lot Better Before You Became A Fucking Myspace Whore", and I wouldn't mind reading that.

Angry Balled Fists! 12-30-2005 04:31 AM

Sorry, i don't have them, i haven't listened to them in ages.

chumpradio 12-30-2005 06:03 AM

That helps a lot...

fckthatnoise 02-11-2006 06:33 PM

A bit late but.. I love FOB. They're an awesome band, very origional.
I just won a Fender Strat singed by them from a competition on Kerrang :p

Crack City Rocker 02-13-2006 11:55 AM

this band is horrible. they are not even pop-punk. they should in no way be associated with punk.

B 02-13-2006 02:58 PM

^

ok.

FOB Rule 02-14-2006 07:35 AM

^ well i guess someone doesnt like fob
