Hey D&P

EDIT: Jim Fast Fingers wanted me to ask you if you could change his name to MX Dancin' Man.

If that's ok with you.
Ok he's set.

Simple Man 02-21-2005 10:56 PM

Thanks man, Or he says Thanks.

Double Bass Jim 02-21-2005 10:59 PM

No prob, glad to help ya.

OhNoMatt 02-21-2005 11:34 PM

yes, as a late reply DBJ, I'm all about the new Dead movie.

Also, to whoever said Day of the Dead rocked, although it's my least favorite of the three movies I agree it's very underrated. Everybody bashes it but I think it had by far the best effects and visceral feeling to it, which is pretty important in a zombie movie. And you can't beat the opening city scene... always sends a shiver up my spine.

Feel free to IM me if you're ever bored and wanna talk about horror and scifi movies DBJ ... yeah, I'm a dork.

Hmm, talk about off topic... um, drums rock!
Hey everyone, I'm Kristina, I'm 21, I'm a senior chemistry major at SCU here in California. I've been playing drums for about 2 years now and I mostly lurk here on the forum. I just bought a vintage 1964 Ludwig Super Classic today for $575 and I've spent the past 3 hours cleaning the 40 years worth of gunk all over it when I should be doing some homework.:) Here's a pic of my new baby (the treadmill and the weight machine in the back kinda ruin it, I know)

In terms of what type of music I like, I love underground, retro garage type stuff like the Reigning Sound and kickass 60s garage bands. I absolutely adore Charlie Watts. I like the old school style of drumming; for me personally, the simpler, the better. Which is why I love Charlie and why I love vintage kits.
Man, that is a SMOKIN kit!! You found a gem there.

SonorKen 02-21-2005 11:58 PM

Ok, so is this like a D&P community thread?

Seafroggys 02-22-2005 12:09 AM
My name is Mike, and i live in a northern Chicago suburb. I've been drumming for a year and a half. My music tastes are classic rock and late folk and blues. my favorite and most influential drummers are John Bonham, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, and Ginger Baker. o and the weather sucks up here right now!
Love your inspirations, love your avatar. 'Cept mine is better :D

Simple Man 02-26-2005 01:32 PM

First post in the Drum Stronghold. w00t and all that. Seems to be a different place to the Guitar Stronghold. Or rather, the Guitar Stronglod II. First one had over 4000 pages. Think it was the biggest thread on MX. You may have guessed, it was a spamfest. Before it was deleted, I had over 6,000 posts .

Do I have a point? Ummm, no I don't think so. Hmm. Drums. Ok, I'll tell you about my drum kits. Yes, kits. Result of divorced parents, you get two of everything.

Kit 1
Honher Percussion with Pearl EXP steel snare.
22x16
12x10
13x11
16x16
14x5

Zildjian A Mastersound hi hats, 14"
Sabian HH Raw Bell Dry Ride, 21"

Kit 2
Reasonably old (not vintage) Tama kit. Imperial Star or something. Stewart Copeland used to use a similar kit I think. 9 ply mahogany shells, grey/white/black flecked paint on the inside. Not sure on sizes, but I'll guess. Drums with * have only batter head.
22x16
8x6*
10x8*
12x10*
13x10*
12x10
13x10
16x16
14x5 Tama Steel snare (aux snare)
14x4 Pearl John "JR" Robinson snare (main snare, discontinued series)

Zildjian Scimitar cymbals, 20" ride, 16" crash, 14" hats.

Wow, that was a long post.

Hmmmmmm, nah, I think I'll keep them. D'you wanna hear the best part? The entire second kit was £300. £100 of that was the JR snare.

Double Bass Jim 02-26-2005 03:17 PM

Yikes 300 bucks! Man thats amazing those were great drums too.

Simple Man 02-26-2005 04:02 PM

Guitar Stronghold still is a spamfest, It had 1000 post in less than a day, and a bunch of "rep whoring" too. I have 15k and soon I'll be off the first page

spirit 02-26-2005 04:21 PM
Yikes 300 bucks! Man thats amazing those were great drums too.
Unfortunately, no, not 300 USD, but 300 GBP, which equals 575 USD. Still a pretty good deal I feel.

spirit 02-26-2005 04:23 PM

I didn't say it wasn't, did I? It's a total spamfest.

Simple Man 02-26-2005 04:27 PM

Haha, No, I was agreeing with you.

spirit 02-26-2005 04:31 PM

Ah right, sorry for the misunderstanding. It is a bit unruly. On the other hand, it stops spam from filtering into the erious threads. Usually.

Simple Man 02-26-2005 04:33 PM

Yeah true, but no real discussion is held there just, "rep me" and other stupid stuff.

spirit 02-26-2005 04:41 PM

Sometimes discussion goes on. It was better when more 03'ers and other vets hung out, now it's all the danged 04'ers.

Simple Man 02-26-2005 05:26 PM

Yeah, everyonce in awhile there will be a senseable discussion but not very often.

Make sure to check out all the folders in there as well cause there's plenty more pics.

The crashes are UFiP Roughs 16 and 18.
Hats are crap.
The ride is an old A Zildjian 20" Medium Heavy. (In most pics it's a Sabian B8 Pro)
The China is a Wuhan 18"
and the splash is a 10" Wuhan.

-TheGlassPrison- 02-26-2005 10:05 PM

Anyone else ever leave something of their's at a gig?

I just left my Stick Bag with my drop clutch:(.
Luckily I have an extra clutch and sticks laying round.. I'll have to go pick em up sometime, it sucks because the gig was 1 hour away..

Aussie made goodness.

PowerStamp 02-27-2005 01:10 AM

Let's see...
Name's John, been playing for about 6 or 7 years, I'd have to dig out a calendar and see haha
Mapex Pro M with Sabian and Wuhan cymbals.

I play drums for Scuff, KC 4 piece Metal/Hardcore/Metalcore/NWOAHM band with my 2 best friends and our new singerpal Woody haha

Influences PERSONALLY : Buddy Rich, Portnoy, Carey, Bonham, Beauford
Influences AS A BAND : Evergreen Terrace, Unearth, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Black Dahlia Murder, Comeback Kid...

My band just put the down payment on a Rehearsal Studio today. 12x24 room, soundproof level of 54db, inhouse Recording Studio ($38 per hour). Rent is $250 a month, only $62.50 for each of the 4 of us.

From the shows I go to and what I mainly listen to you'd call me a Hardcore kid...Walls of Jericho, Comeback Kid, Unearth, Champion, With Honor, Remembering Never, Terror, Throwdown...but I'm not. I'm not Hardcore, Emo, a Metalhead, an Old Schooler, as a band we are none of these. We all are ourselves.

I'm a self made "ladies man", meaning I have many beautiful lady friends, some could be more some won't be, some I want to be, but yeah haha
I work at McDonalds.
Laugh, but it pays.
