Looking back over that, I'd probably sub Mellon Collie for Hunky Dory, not much else would change drastically.

Iron_Weed 03-29-2006 06:35 AM
if i put shuffle on "beatles for sale", i'll be happy with whatever comes on. i don't feel this way with any other of their albums. also, i'm compairing it to their early stuff. i feel like after revolver it was a whole different ballgame.
I've always found something strangely appealing about Beatles for Sale too. Very good mix of songs on it and probably their most downbeat (early) album. If it weren't for Mr. Moonlight it'd rate higher with me though.

I just looked at my list from earlier in this thread and thought it was wrong. I knew that would happen.

Robert Crumb 03-30-2006 12:40 AM

Mine was weird, too. I think I just picked whatever I happened to be listening to at the moment. Some of those albums I love, sure, but others I probably haven't listened to since.

Iai 03-30-2006 06:01 AM

Mine actually hasn't changed all that much.

Iai 03-30-2006 06:13 AM

In fact, let's compare how much I've changed in a year.

1. (-) Radiohead - OK Computer
2. (NE) Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine
3. (-) Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
4. (-) Jeff Buckley - Live At Sin-E (Legacy Edition)

8. (NE) The Zombies - Odessey & Oracle
9. (NE) Weezer - Pinkerton
10. (down 5) Love - Forever Changes

20. (down 10) Massive Attack - Mezzanine

Casualties - Opeth - Still Life, Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life, Jeff Buckley - Grace. Yet all those would make a top 50 easily. The latter two make the top 25, in fact.

I overthink these lists.

Holy crap, you do.
You document how far down albums fall and crap like that? It's impossible for me to even do this list without all that stuff to worry about. :p

Zmev - Are you ****ing serious? Arctic Monkeys on your all-time favorite albums list?

canvasOBSCURE - Nothing Ben Gibbard's ever done is worthy of a top spot on anyone's list. You're hurting my heart. I also disagree with your Microphones selection. It should be The Glow, Pt. 2.

Why am I critiquing people's lists? I need to stop being an asshole.

The atq cd was really good, you just have to look past the lofi recording. I havent heard enough on the glow, pt.2 to say its my favorite, but I'll defiantely check it out.

Well don't they call you facist (which you managed to fuck up the spelling, you fucking retard) for a reason.
Now I know Zmev is kidding, unless NME hacked his account, but opinions.
In other news, Peter Dohetry did stuff this week. 10 page spread.

neighborhood fascist 04-02-2006 12:13 PM

It's not the lo-fi recording that gets to me, it's the Ben Gibbard-ness of it all. Well, it's not as bad as DCFC, but that's certainly not reason enough to put it on a top list, unless it's the "Most Uninteresting Albums of All-Time" list.

No, that's how you spell "fascist."

Anyway, it seems the only reason for these threads to exist is so people who have no interest in Alt/Indie music (besides one or two bands that arguably fit the mold) can post here.
