I wouldn't suggest putting them in yourself unless you know what you're doing, because while drilling you could potentially F up your cymbal. Some cymbals come pre-riveted already from the manufacturer, but they are few and far between. Ask your local shop about doing rivets, they can point you in the right direction.
Ok, cool. They have such an awesome sound. I'm really working on getting cash to "up" my set!

i play mostly loud stuff. i'm looking for a new ride at the moment. I want something dark and dry but loud as heck at the same time with a nice loud bell. I was thinking of getting the z custom mega bell ride, but it rings alot. i was also looking into a K heavy ride, an A series earth ride, or a z custom power ride, and sticking a zil bell on top for a bell. any suggestions?

Yeah for sure, great sound. Another idea would be to use a flat ride for a riveted cymbal, you'll get a really cool sound out of that, so look into them as well. |

The K. Heavy is the way to go :thumb: |
i have a 16" aaxplosion and i want a lager crash that will go with it. i am thinking of getting one of the next three:
18" aaxplosion crash 18" aa rock crash 18" sonix crash what would you guys suggest? |
Look at the aaxpolsion or the aa rock, don't go down to sonix if you already have an aax
|
I don't have pictures yet so this doesn't deserve a thread (hense why I decided to tell everyone in here [sorry, i know this isn't the aim of this thread]) ... I got a Sabian 17" HHXtreme crash today :D. I tried every single crash the store had and this one just seemed to stand out to me. It's fast, reasonably dark and is raw and aggressive - just what I wanted for my kit :). I will be sure to get some pictures up as soon as i figure out how!
Thanks, Tom |

ok the time has come for me to splurge again, i want two more crashes, to brighten up my set....
i can get a good deal if i get 17"aa medium crash and 19 " a custom or if i get a 15" and 17" aa medium.... i already have a crashes that are 16 and 18, so what sizes do you guys think would be good, i bet the 19 a custom is amazingly strong and the 17 aa would blend really nice with every thing else i have....im not sure about gettina 15" cymbal, it would be good for small accents but i use my 16" k custom for that a lot...so id love you hear your opinions...price isnt an issue here , as for all of them id be getting really good deals. edit: also whats anyones opinion on the a custom medium crashes....are the reg a customs that thin? |
i've played a 19" A Custom once....Friggin bright...even for a 19"
the 17" Medium would be a good choice too. that will brighten up too....go for the Medium and A Custom combo. nice choices. then its a new kit i suppose?....everything else on your kit kicks ***. |

There's the A Custom Crash (thin), Projection Crash (medium-thin) and Fast Crash (thin). |
Cool, I oughta make a checklist of what to get!
How would a china splash sound with rivets... is there such thing as a china splash... Wow, I feel stupid  |
OK, well i just bought the 19" a custom, i trust bobby j with this,... i think i ll pick up the aa medium next week....and then maybe a jam block....but yea then a new set, but thats a few years away. i dont think i need to upgrade my kit anytime soon, even though i play a crappy pulse...i only ever play in my basement with some friends.

They just realeased them. I just read about them in the new MD. |
Ok, I need a crash which will compliment my 17" HHXtreme. Preferably Sabian.
Thanks, Tom |
16" or 18" HHX Stage Crash.
|

What issue? |
March
|
Oh, don't have that one yet. Looking forward to it.
|
sabian realeased a new cymbal series.. The Vault crashes
|
Yeah, kind of a weird name, but they look pretty nice.
|
doesnt look like your typical sabian Labeling either (Aside from HHX)
|
i want the senses fail drummer's (Dan Trapp's) hi-hats, they sound mint, wat does he use, i look at some of the pics on the senses fail site, i saw 2 diff hi-hats A Customs and possibly new beats, but wat kind does he use?
|
I'm pretty sure he uses new beats on the new record. and +rep for liking a kick *** band :)
|
ok, help me here. I need 2 crash's, both to be quick a splashy, but with a good punch to them too (think danny carey, that kinda sound, not that kinda prce). i also need a ride thats loud and suitable for gigging (heavier music) but does not wash for long, more of a loud ping, any ideas?
|
hey i was wondering what you guys thought of the K Custom 20" pre aged dry light ride?
|
I did not like that ride when I played it. I don't know why, but it seemed dull and blunt to me. Feel free to try it out for yourself though.
|
alright thanks for the info, does anyone else have any other info about this ride for primarily (sp?) rock and jazzy grooves
|
sabain B8s...........
I got these last year when I got my first new set. We were strapped for cash and we got a Ludwig Accent custom. Not my first choice but i really like the set. We were left with enough money for Sabian B8's. As I develop more as a drummer and discover the sound I like i find that the B8's don't do it anymore. I'm really into metal music but at the same time I am into blues music also. Any suggestions on where to go from here?
Also, this may sound like a stupid question, what reccomendation would you have on cymbals that sound the best but are cheapest? |
i'd say Sabians Pro/Sonix and Paiste's Alpha lines for the budget work.
as for the metal/blues thing, go look for medium weight cymbals. they wont rip heads off with blues, but at the same time, they'll survive metal. |
^^^ he would probably be fine with medium thin cymbals. i give my medium thin HH crash a good beating and it holds up fine. as long as you use good technique medium thin's should hold up fine.
|
my band just started playing jazzier tunes and my zildian A ping ride just doesnt sound good in the mix. I need a dry ride that has a nice sounding bell when ridden, and i like heavier rides (my current ping ride is 22" from the 80's VERY VERY heavy) i cant really afford a k custom or a k ride, is their any other cymbals at decent prices that can fufill my needs...thanks a bunch!!
|

try out some paiste crashes, innovations for my preference, amazing sound when miked..and for ride, id say zildjian A or A Custom ping ride...i swear by them :):) PS Those are cymbals Danny uses |
Looking to get a new main crash and a ride. I will mostly be playing metal, with some rock tossed in, and mabye the odd other style as well. I was thinking an AA Medium 18" crash, as it would be loud enough for metal, but should give me some versatility in usage, but other reccomendations are welcome. Im not too sure on the ride, something loud enough for metal, but versatile enough to be used in other situations.
Thanks |
Try the AA Rock ride.
Good choice with the crash, should sound great. |
has anyone played/heard about the sabian AAX stage series? massmusic.net offers the 14" hats, 16" crash, and 20" ride with an export ELX that i am looking at, should i consider the cymbals too?
|
Hell ya the aax stages are awsome
|
also as bobby said before 16" aax stage and a aa medium crash 18" arethe most versitile pair
