Tom is one of the best guitarists ever. He is definetly the most innovative guitarist of all time. Who else agrees?

He ranks in my most innovative, with EVH, Steve Vai and Petrucci.
These guys basically got me into metal, Ghost of Tom Joad is kick ***, even though its a cover. I dont count their songs as covers though, as they merly take the lyrics, and whack a totally new sound scheme to them.

Yeah take Maggie's Farm for example....completely different sound, but both versions are still awesome.

Yeh, you know E-F-F-E-C-T, that song, forgotten the name (Noob++), listen to the original. Its 80's old school street hip-hop, and look what they turned it into.

It might be called I'm Housin', but I'm not 100% on that.
Their covers are always interesting when compared to the originals

I actually like Renegades best. I think it's the most consistant as far as song value goes. But I realize I'm the only one.

Tom is definately one of the greatest guitarists ever. His sound is his own and I doubt that anyone will try to copy it.

I didn't even know Tom Morello was in Audioslave when I first heard it. I figured it out because of that awesome sound he has. Truly a unique sound.

He uses way less effects in Audioslave than he did in RATM, which dissapoints me. However, it fits better with the sound of Audioslave with the smaller amount of effects.

I don't think so. There are plenty of songs that sound a lot like Kashmir in the rythm. "Rock Superstar" by Cypress Hill is the only one I can think of at the moment. Good rap song.

I'm going to say that Rage's self titled album was the best. It was heavier and more charged than any other album, although BoLA was a good result after Evil Empire.
Renegades was a cover album of influences. I'd say it's fine, especially the cover of "The Ghost of Tom Joad", originally by Springsteen. Morello's guitar work never ceases to amaze me.
Tom's best solo, I'd say, is probably the "Bullet in the Head" solo. The "Darkness" solo is nice and jazzy, though. Very nice work either way.
Tom does use primarily 99999 88888 77777 solos, but he uses effects so heavily that you can't tab a thing 100% accurate on their later songs. He is, however, quite capable of more than just 999999 888888 77777777.
I think Timmy C. is probably one of the most underrated bassists around. The opening on "Calm Like a Bomb" is very nice and smooth, similar to a verse of chorus by Flea of RHCP. "Bombtrack" has a great opening. Flea gets all the credit for awesomeness, but Tim deserves more than a few "Good work" critiques.
I think Hammet is overrated as guitarists go. I rarely hear any emotion from his solos. It's like a machine is playing them. Fast, yes, but it's too **** cold for me to care. My opinions are my own, however.

You really can't compare hammett and morello because their styles are so different. If you wanted to get down to technical **** hammetts probably a better player, but in the end its just an opinion. I also don't think timmy c or brad wilk are underrated at all. I think theyre ok at what they do but brad rarely does anything special on the drums and the same goes with timmy. I think the only one that excels at what they do in ratm is tom, but nevertheless im still a huge rage fan.

I agree with you that Tim and Brad are not extremely great at what they do, but they are still very underrated. However, as a group, they have the most amazing "meshing" as a whole. It's more of one insturment playing, rather than a group of guys playing music.
