Middle schoolers are ****s. I was a little **** when I was in middle school (junior high in Canada) and so was everyone else.

They will grow up.

DeusExMachina 11-25-2004 06:12 PM

Yeah, when I was in middle school up until the last couple months of 8th grade, I thought the Beatles were losers, and I listened to stuff like Sum 41 and Blink 182 *ashamed* but I'm more intelligent now. The first song I ever learned to play on the guitar was Blackbird.

BludgeonySteve 11-25-2004 06:21 PM

I've been meaning to get more Beatles albums but they're all like $20. I think i'll just burn my parent's vinyls onto cds.

DeusExMachina 11-25-2004 06:30 PM

How do you burn from vinyl to CD?

BludgeonySteve 11-25-2004 06:37 PM

My dad knows how. I'm not exactly sure.

omgwtfboogie 11-25-2004 06:41 PM

This thread inspired me to pull out my Beatles CDs, and I'm surprised I still know every word to every song, and exactly when to sing it...

It had been years.

"Hey Jude" might be my favorite, but I haven't come across a mediocre Beatles song..

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 11-25-2004 07:02 PM

I've bought every Beatles CD except for Let It Be...Naked and the Yellow Submarine ones. are they worth buying?

Out of curiousity, why did you alternate the letters in your name between upper and lower case? and why is there xxxx's?

I don't know about Yellow Submarine, but Let It Be...Naked is great.

I guess it's what I felt like doing at the time...no specific reason

thanks

DeusExMachina 11-25-2004 08:12 PM

They're all good, but Let It Be Naked is better than the Yellow Submarine. In my opinion.

The Spliggity Splot 11-25-2004 08:38 PM
I'm sure they have a few bad songs. I just can't think of any :amaze:
**why don't we do it in the road

DeusExMachina 11-25-2004 08:57 PM

Hahaha. Man, that song is funny. Not memorable, but I wouldn't say its bad.

The Spliggity Splot 11-25-2004 09:10 PM

I would
**why don't we do it in the road
That song is great. It was one of McCartney's best vocal performances.

Seafroggys 11-25-2004 11:07 PM

The worst Beatle song has gotta be Wild Honey Pie. I wouldn't say its bad, but I just can't really stand listening to it voluntarily.

On the contrary, my favorite Beatle songs are Sexy Sadie, Nowhere Man, Here Comes the Sun, Mean Mr. Mustard, Sgt. Pepper's Reprise, She Said She Said.....and boy I should stop because I could keep on going.

DeusExMachina 11-26-2004 12:40 AM

Surprised no one mentioned Revolution 9. Anyone who actually enjoys listening to it on a regular basis is either a liar or on acid. Honestly. Like, occasionally when i'm in a really weird mood I'll listen to it, but honestly, that thing is creepy.
**why don't we do it in the road
Yes! I can't stand the song!

DeusExMachina 11-26-2004 12:15 PM

I always thought in general that The White Album would've been better if they'd cut it down to one disc.

Woodstock 11-26-2004 03:38 PM
I always thought in general that The White Album would've been better if they'd cut it down to one disc.
Yeah, but they said they had too many songs for just one album, and I think the White Album is perfect the way it is.

I just skip it when it comes on.

Same I like it with all of the songsd on it.:)

gmoneyguy 11-26-2004 03:47 PM

I tend to forget about the second disc though

I just dug it out the other day.

The Pilot 11-26-2004 03:49 PM

In retrospect, Ringo thought that the two White Album records should have been released as two different albums, sarcastically refering to them as the "White and Whiter Albums". He might have been right from an economic standpoint, but I like the White Album as it is.

That was Ringo who said that. It was Ringo's joke.

It's ok, I just remembered Ringo saying that on the Anthology DVD.

Ok, which Beatles album is the best in basically summarizing all the Beatles' talents?

gmoneyguy 11-26-2004 04:41 PM

Abbey road. That album has alot of input from each of the four.
Probably their last few albums. Just because they basically stopped writing and playing together, it was like four people got together to do one solo album between them.

i dont know if this has been mentioned...but in my Rock And Roll book (bio on rock history), i am on the chapter about The Beatles. It mentioned that in 1964 Bob Dylan offered The Beatles their first joint when he met them (or they met him, depends how you look at it). They said that within a year, they were basically smoking it everyday for breakfast. do you think this was for the better, worse? or did it really not make a different?

Do you think they would have taken the direction they decided to take in terms of songwriting whether they did drugs or not?

DeusExMachina 11-26-2004 10:48 PM

I agree Abbey Road is the most revealing of their individual talents. As for the toking...

I definitely think it influenced them. I think they would have been creative no matter what, but the whole psychedelic nature of the 60's was largely influenced by drug use. I don't think some of the stuff (especially the eastern/hindu influence) would have come into play without drugs.

GeorgeHarrison 11-26-2004 11:41 PM

Dude i just stumbled onto this thread thank god....
Heres something for you to ponder.
Put in Abbey Road and play "She came in through the Bathroom window"
When Paul starts singing the line "She said she's always been a dancer" Make sure to listen to that awsome bass riff. I love that riff. It rocks! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

DeusExMachina 11-27-2004 11:20 AM

I love the bass on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Woodstock 11-27-2004 04:27 PM

Paul McCartney always had the greatest "hidden" bass-lines in his songs, especially Hello, Goodbye and, of course, Come Together.

i am the robots 11-27-2004 04:35 PM

I love the song Helter Skelter, it always reminds me of Sound Garden.... plus it sounds like a metal song, and I would consider it one of the earliest metal songs.

that's true. most people just looked at his lyrics, not his bass. he was pretty talented at coming up with good bass lines. he capture the essence of what bass guitar offered psychadelic music.

It's called the first metal song.
