I used to be a huge AC/DC fan. I've gown tired of them now. All the music sounds to much the same, and there are bands with far better catchy music in my opinion.

80smetalkicksass 12-19-2004 12:34 AM

I love ac/dc. They may not be amazing, but they are real people, who love the music, and rock n roll. Some say there repetitive, thats your opinion, thats what music is. repitition. there are millions of bands, using the same fret boards, the same drum beats, the same key's... its all the same concept. it dosent matter how good you are it matters how creative you are, and how you feel about the music. Anyways, ac/dc is what has gotten me into all the other great bands i listen to, so i have the greatest respect for them. As for a stage presence, they are amazing. As for loving the music, thats what they do. if you dont like it, dont listen to it. dont worry about it. AC/DC is for the fans to love, if your not a fan just dont talk. My music is AC/DC.

Even though I'm no longer into AC/DC, I have to admit, they put on a very good show.

80smetalkicksass 12-19-2004 12:40 AM

yeah a hell of a show, i think in that way they are like kiss because alot of people saw them just because of how awsome their shows were, but i believe they ac/dc has way more talent and creativity than kiss!

ScotJay 12-19-2004 02:56 AM
AC/DC are an awesome band and their songs dont sound the same I got 6 albums and the most common thing that sounds the same is the singing which is one of the major reasons ac/dc rocks they got one of the most original voices out their. Try listening to Money Talks, Thunder Struck, Are You Ready, then listen The Boogie Man, Stiff Upper Lip, Highway To Hell. THose songs dont sound the same do they?

People complain about bands that go bad but AC/DC and Iron Maiden are two bands that havent done that. (and IMO Metallica but thats not who were talking about). AC/DC have stuck to their formula which is kick ***! And Angus is a great soloist and performer! I've only seen videos but with their upcoming new cd "Strap It On" Which if its anything like any of their other cd's it will rock! I hope they come to canada.
My thoughts exactly.

ScotJay 12-19-2004 02:56 AM

well except for the bit 'bout canada

Thank you. Someone who actually understands that it is how you feel about the music that counts. AC/DC actually lives the music.

Mr.P. 12-19-2004 08:59 AM
Malcolm did play all through thunderstruck. But the riff you are thinking of (the one that starts the song) is done by Angus. With one hand. for 5 minutes. and then he still manages to pull off a solo. So even though Malcolm is a great guitarist don't be so quick to knock Angus.
My bad, lol

EonBlueApocalypse 12-19-2004 10:31 AM
just let me say in advance that a lot of people will probably disagree with me on this but im kind of hypocritical on this so here i go....

AC/DC is a good band in the sense that they play catchy tunes that you can hear for the first time and sing along to or tap your foot to. but.... Thats because there songs a simple but good. AC/DC isnt all that great of musicians they've won people over simplicity and catchyness
back when they just started out however, they were one of the first to play that music at that level of intensity and rawness. even though it's catchy, it very entertaining to listen to, and they were decent musicians, just not as good as some people make them out to be.

rippa32 12-19-2004 07:11 PM
My bad, lol
Nah that's alright. But you gotta admit Malcolm is also a bloody good guitarist. He even played lead in the early days (before their first album). Although I think he played lead in Can I sit next to you girl. Not entirely sure about that.

JACKROXYOU 12-19-2004 09:03 PM

Malcom is quite the guitarist. it would be weird now though if he started playing lead. i dont think he has the stage persona

led blimp 12-19-2004 09:27 PM

Craszy fast solos. Catchy riffs. kikazz band. Malcom was better, but he drank too much so he gave the lead part to Angus.
Also AC/DC is an English term for bisexual. didnt know that till recently.

Yeah, Angus has the charismatic performer side to go with his guitar skills. Malcolm has come up with many of their well known riffs and has been underated as a guitarist but Angus's guitar playing has always come so naturally to him and his timing and technique in his solo work especially early on is fantastic, he has the persona that makes you sit, watch and marvel at the way he attacks his guitar.

It does mean bisexual. But that's not what they intended. When they actually found that out they actually considered changing their name. Good thing they didnt AC/DC is a bloody awesome name for a band.

JACKROXYOU 12-20-2004 10:39 AM

yea people like to be stupid

alexmonty12 12-20-2004 10:43 AM

he's right, it can mean bisexual and the press said the letters stood for Ant-Christ Devil Child...

but i think they intended it for the AC/DC charges

something current/direct current...i think it is?

so does any body else thinks it stands for somethin else just get it over with now

rippa32 12-20-2004 06:08 PM

Actuallt I should clear it all up. Angus and Malcolm's sister found the letters AC/DC on the back of a vacuum cleaner. She thought it was a good name for her brothers' band she put it to them and that was it. And NO she did NOT find it on the back of a sewing machine as so many people think.

shortass 12-20-2004 06:33 PM

I never knew that
Thanks :thumb:

JACKROXYOU 12-21-2004 12:09 PM

rippa32 12-22-2004 05:53 AM

What is everyones favourite song on the Dirty Deeds Album. It has to be the Australian one so I dont want people saying songs like Love at first feel or Rocker.

JACKROXYOU 12-22-2004 05:44 PM

how about dirty deeds done dirt cheap thats a good song

Ulysses 12-23-2004 03:02 AM

Dirty Deeds, Rocker and Ride On :thumb:

thelizardkingcc 12-23-2004 04:36 AM

I think AC/DC under Bon Scott was a much better band than afterwards. Ride On, Night Prowler, Dirty Deeds, The Jack, Live Wire, all sweet like candy.

rippa32 12-23-2004 04:37 AM

I noticed that you said rocker. You americans are really missing out on some great songs on that album (Rock in Peace and Jailbreak)

Ulysses 12-23-2004 07:21 AM
I think AC/DC under Bon Scott was a much better band than afterwards. Ride On, Night Prowler, Dirty Deeds, The Jack, Live Wire, all sweet like candy.
Yeah, I enjoy the music written before 1980 more than afterwards generally speaking. Bon Scott's vocals and charismatic stage persona adds a feeling of electricity and energy to the band which is emphasised on what I believe is one of if not the best rock n roll live album ever recorded, If You Want Blood...You've Got It, there is not another record that psyches me the way it does.

tamas 12-23-2004 10:35 AM

Led-Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Ten Years After, Motörhead, Mötley Crüe, Guns n' Roses and AC/DC: They're the best

led blimp 12-24-2004 05:30 PM

its British slang.
AC/DC
Alternative current/Direct Current
homo/hetero
They had to spend a lot of time proving they were straight

freaks_refuge 12-24-2004 05:54 PM

I think they are a generally a good band, not strictly to my taste, quite repetitive and definitely over-rated, but generally speaking, most bands that big are quite over-rated anyway.
