Two bands I've been diggin lately (not sure why)
Weezer-I just got tthe new blue album expanded for easter. it is sweet. The B-sides are excellent, especially Jamie, and the live versions of many of the songs on it. It rocks Flaming Lips-I've just recently gotten into the flaming lips. I just purchased In A Priest Driven Ambulance. Some songs to check out are Shine on Sweet Jesus (it's creepy but good) and Five Stop Mother Superior Rain. Also, a new band that I just recently found out about are The Constantines. Their album is titled Shine a Light and its on Sub-Pop records. They are excellent. You should check out the song National Hum. |
I won a bid on Washing Machine by Sonic Youth. Is it a good album?
|
I love The Flaming Lips...I own Transmissions and Yoshimi for a few months now...and I heard alot of great things about the Soft Bulletin...I'll get that one as soon as I see it.
Oh yeah folks HERE is ANOTHER recommendation...if you like Muse, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley: check out MOODSWING. |
Johnny Cash - American III: Solitary Man has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week
|
I've been really digging Modest Mouse and The Cure recently. I'm downloading quick and easy like a whore right now.
|
Cap'n Jazz + American Football = more spooge
Can't argue with that. |
I'm into B.R.M.C again, i go through phases of who i like and i'm back to them, excellent band. If you haven't heard much by them check out:
Spread Your Love Stop Whatever Happened To My Rock And Roll Love Burns We're All In Love |
I've been listening to Sonic Youth, Antiskeptic and Radiohead.
|
Nick Drake has been my most recent find. He was an incredible artist. His last album Pink Moon is one of the most raw and emotive albums I've ever come across.
|
Lots of Tool and Zakk Wylde / Black Label Society lately :thumb:
|
Currently into the Meat Puppets. I'd only heard the Nirvana covers before this week. They're a great band.
|
The killers.
I've only heard 2 songs from these guys - somebody told me, and mr brightside - but from what i've heard i'm way impressed. |
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings & Food has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week
|
I just downloaded a heap of Flaming Lips songs and so far "In The Morning Of Magicians" is my favourite. Good stuff.
|
I've been listening to a lot of
Metric Death Cab For Cutie Spoon The Postal Service Everyone check those bands out if you haven't already.:thumb: |
Song suggestions?
|
Death Cab suggestions:
Information Travels Faster Photobooth I Was a Kaleidospcope Employment Pages Styrofoam Plates (My fave) Coney Island Face That Launched 1000 Ships |
Death Cab is pretty decent...I own Transatlanticism...what stopped me from listening to it over the years that the singers voice annoys me from time to time...but the music is pretty good. It's as close as emo as it gets in my cd collection.
|
death cab for cutie
pretty girls makes graves Dead Poetic Taking Back Sunday Incubus Blood Brothers Tool especially Aenima Dizzy Rascal Cursive The Streets and last but not least Rancid |
Song suggestions?
Metric Combat Baby Succexy Raw Sugar Spoon The Way We Get By Jonathon Fisk The Postal Service Such Great Heights Nothing Better Clark Gable |
Two albums stand out for me:
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin (some of the best music I've ever heard) Damien Rice - O (raw emotion) Also in rotation Dead Can Dance - Into The Labyrinth (majestic) The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium (only until now I'm starting to recognize it's amazingness) Lovage - Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By (just a fun cd) Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A# (Infinity) (challenging, breathtaking listening experience) Sarah MachLachlan - Surfacing (good adult pop) |
I just picked up The Pixies - Surfer Rosa and Sonic Youth - Sister a few days ago.
Good stuff. |
Soli i Sombra - www.soliisombra.com their EP is for download there. really great indie-prog
Junior Senior - Great super catchy disco stealers. Download chicks and dicks, very funny song The Postal Service - Fun to listen to just don't over do it like I did. A Perfect Cricle - Probably on here athousand times but still and always great |
rjd2 - started digging him a while back, but now he's got a new album out for me to dig
moving units - i guess the "dancepunk" thing still hasn't been overdone yet. not much different than any of the other bands like them, but these guys songs are just catchier and more uptempo than the other bands in their genre. addictive. les savy fav - downloaded a song by them, was impressed, downloaded a bunch more, now their album's on the way. not much to say about them except that they're just a good band. my bloody valentine - i had heard their stuff before, but i never thought it was as amazing as everyone else seemed too (kinda like i was when first hearing the mars volta.) took me a while, but now "loveless" is indeed blowing me away. good timing too, cause kevin shields is starting to make music again. |

I've been diggin Death Cab For Cutie- you can play these songs with chords
|
I've never been able to get into My Bloody Valentine...I never thought their music were as strong compared to most other music I own with feminine songwriting. Maybe it's just me though.
I've been getting into a band called The Cranes these days...they are great. They sound sorta like a combination of New Order, Dead Can Dance and Throbbing Gristle...really good stuff. I'm also liking Dead Moon...another band I recommend. |
I'm with you, OrbDragon. I never really got it either. Maybe it's because I never heard it in the proper format (CD) in the proper mood (drugs). Maybe someday.
The Soft Bulletin by the Flamings Lips. It took me 8 months, folks, but I finally love it! New Modest Mouse Franz Ferdinand Creedence Clearwater Revival. I bought their best-of for a history report, but their songs just rock. Bad Religion |
Bands/Albums/Songs I've been into lately...
French Kicks - "One Time Bells": (Close To Modern, When You Heard You, Down Now) Hot Hot Heat - "Make Up The Breakdown": (No Not Now, Get In or Get Out, Oh Goddammit, This Town, Talk to Me, Dance with Me, In Cairo... in other words, almost all of it.) Franz Ferdinand - "Franz Ferdinand": (Jaqueline, Tell Her Tonight, Take Me Out, The Dark of the Matinee, Michael, 40") What I'm looking to get soon... The Libertines - "Up The Bracket" ... I know it's been out for a while, but for some reason I keep forgetting to go out and get it. It could be my lack of money/job. Tangiers - "Hot New Spirits" (I think thats what its called) The Unicorns |
I've been listening to Houses of the Holy (album, not song) by Zep on repeat for like 5 days.
Also R.E.M. Best of '88-'03. |
That is such a great album, one of their best too. Dyer Maker is the best song on that album IMO. |

I prefer The Rain Song. I consider this their best album for sure, but whenever I listen to Dancing Days I just think about how much better STP did it. |
I've never been able to get into My Bloody Valentine...
me either, for the longest time. but recently, while my winamp playlist was randomly going through songs, a couple of their songs came on and i just really liked them. i don't know how or why, but they just really appealed to me. modest mouse was the same way... go figure. i guess if you're in the right mindset, some music just gets to you sometimes (and no i wasn't on drugs at the time ok compiler.) although i'm sure that would help. |
