a little bit off the subject but... does anybody know what amp settings or something to make their f*cked up distorted guitar sound? I think they have the best punk guitar tone
|
I have never really considered the misfits as punk rock
i just dont see where dead people fit in with the genre |
I have never really considered the misfits as punk rock
i just dont see where dead people fit in with the genre
It's stripped-down headbanging music that relies on minimalist production and ensemble. The whole point of punk is that you don't need virtuosity to make good music. If you know enough to write a three-chord progression and carry a tune, that's good enough. |
The Misfits made the dead people fit in. They didn't before, and because punk (at least in the 70's when they formed) can take in new ideas and concepts much more readily than most other styles, it became part of the whole scene. I enjoy the dead people stuff, much more than I enjoy someone telling me I should hate the government.

The government would be more interesting if it were made up of zombies.
<_< |
That made no sense.
|
no.....that made perfect sense. brilliance if that
|
No, definitely not.
What's that thing that Doyle and Jerry did? I think it was called Kryst the Konquerer. Was it any good? |
I dont think they ever had a lead singer.
I would imagine it just being heavy punk, but dont really go by me. Doyle is only 40, his birthday is coming up I believe. Also I love Horror Punk, its one of my favorites genres. |
The government would be more interesting if it were made up of zombies.
<_<
You're about 25 years to late with that idea. |
the government would be more interesting if...they all spontaniously combusted...scratch that, everyone would be more interesting if they spontaniously combusted
|
only if they did it when you poked them
homeless guy: "hey buddy, can I have a buck?" you: *poke* homeless guy: "oh my god, it burns it burns" |
doyle should hurry up and die, like the horse that he's been beating for the last 15 years.
|
uh. i cant understand how you can say that misfits is better than danzig, its totally different styles of music, I dont think they compete. But I have listened so much on danzig and misfits that i am getting tired of them, but if I wait three days they will be good again. FUC.K YHA !!!
|
I reckon you can compare different styles of music, especially when Danzig and the Misfits are so stylistically close, they do the same kinda stuff, just Danzig went in a more metal direction and the Misfits went in more of a punk direction.

Its comfusing to say they startet out "in the 70:s" becuase they started out 79, so its pretty much the 80:s. |
79? i thought they were a 77 band? If otherwise, I stand corrected.

they dont do the same kind of stuff...then opeth and the beatles do the same stuff. its pretty much the same, guitars, vocals, drums...yha, but its totally different. the only thing thats the same is Glenns voice, but in misfits it was less under control. Glenn is Misfits and Danzig, at least for me... Surely you can compare different styles of music, but dont say they are pretty much the same...thats just...wrong. :) |
oh they're not the same, by any means. But neither are the sex pistols and the ramones and they're both still called punk and both still compared to each other. I head alot of similarities between Danzig and The Misfits. Maybe I'm just listening to the wrong Danzig...
|
You're probably listening to the wrong Danzig.
|
ok, what's the right Danzig?
I dig 13, Mother, Am I Demon and How The Gods Kill. |
I think the similarities you hear are in the songwriting. Danzig has a very distinctive voice as a lyricist.
|
that's probably true pike...
I'll stand corrected before ignorance is my undoing. |
