I like styx and rush. But I am not really admiting it.
We all know Rush is the greatest. But Styx? Even I can feel the gayness seeping into my blood as I listen to such classics as "Angry Young Man" and "Come Sail Away".

But they rock. They rock like Abba rocked.

DBoons Ghost 09-29-2005 02:50 PM
I'm sorry to hear that Dboon. Hope things work out for you.
Thanks Sid. I'm tryin my best.

I don't really listen to much punk, but just find the whole music scene and many of the people involved to be interesting. I've tried to get into it, but I can only take so much of it at a time.

Henrik 09-29-2005 03:14 PM

I love the gangsters paradise song, and red hot chili peppers is so great.
And my all time favorite movie is "Cool runings". I actually bought the soundtrack.

Brain Toad 09-29-2005 03:21 PM

I love Journey.
I love lots of classic rock, a lot of it more then punk.
I have a chain wallet
I've never been to a punk show (most know this already)
I'm 'straight edge' and dislike Minor Threat
I hate all hardcore after the 80s, unless it has a hardcore punk sound.

Let's Chop Cats! 09-29-2005 03:23 PM

I once killed a man, it's been 5 years but I think I'm in the clear.

I hate most/all british sounding punk.

AIRIC 09-29-2005 03:25 PM

He lives outside of 'Frisco' and can't get to them.

They are just kind of boring to me. I like Fugazi and Embrace though, I just don't like Minor Threat. I don't hate them where I'd bleed from the ears if someone played them, but you won't catch me listening to their albums.
OK so the truth is I am not a pedophile.

Some other confessions. I love the Carpenters. I love to Journey and Styx. I listen to Chicago more than I listen to punk rock these days.

I am also kinda nerdly, but I aint no nerd. I played D&D after shows on Sundays back in the day. I mean, we'd rush home for it. I played Magic the Gathering, and considered going "pro" in the early 90s. Seriously. That's some sad sad stuff right there.

More harsh truth though, my marriage is failing miserably. My wife and I no longer get along, and while we remain friends for the sake of our child, I truly must admit that we might divorce. We bought a huge house in a very nice area outside of NYC, and I thought it would be great, but it's not. I'm very unhappy there. I am in over my head with this house, and not financially, but you know.. it's just not me. It's not me at all, and I've done all this for her and she still hates me. Our daughter is such a happy loving kid though, and we don't fight in front of her and the three of us together is such a sight, but as soon as the kid goes to bed we ignore each other and I am powerless to stop this horrid decline.

Yeah so. Thats it.
Man, you just ruined my day. Seriously.

Brain Toad 09-29-2005 03:26 PM
whats holding you off from going to any shows?
I live 45 minutes from the nearest city that holds shows, San Francisco, and there is no way to get there without a car (Public transport stops running before the show would even be over), and even with a car its a pain because of parking and traffic

I know, but I pictured you like if you were having a happy life you know. I remember a thread where we talked a little and you told me about your wife and stuff.

I don't know, I just hope it all goes well grandpa.

white_riot 09-29-2005 03:42 PM

I use to be a really big Savage Garden fan. I have all their albums. I also owned a Venga Boys album and I love that song by Europe - The Final Countdown.

rsoxfan22 09-29-2005 03:44 PM

I myself must also confess to enjoying Fall Out Boy, I mean I was a conselor (or however you spell it) a Summer Camp and there were all these hot girls (other conselors, you pervs) and they all loved Fall Out Boy so I gave a listen and got hooked

Yeah.. I thought it was all good too. I was happy. I thought she was too. All of a sudden. She lays it on me. She knew I wasn't happy in the new surburban life cuz it aint me, but I did it for her. And now it's as if she feels she forced me into a life I aint happy with, which is true, but I was happy.

I dig where she's comin from, and I aint lookin for advice from anyone, but it just sucks.

asdf 09-29-2005 04:04 PM

Over a year ago I went to an Against Me! concert without any prior knowledge of the band.
