I like Obie Trice, Young Buck, Eminem, Young Bloodz, and Lil Jon.....
they are all pretty good rappers I feel, my brother is obsessed with rap, he could probably respond to this thread better |
Kanye West is good, y'all need to check out The College Dorpout if you haven't already.
|
tupac. the roots. Dr. Dre. Jay - Z. Xzibit. Nas. Run DmC. Kurupt. Snoop Dogg. Nate Dogg. Mos Def. Dizzee Raskal.
are my personal favorites. I hate his ego. I hate his image. And i hate what he stands for. But i gotta give it to him: eminem is the best lyricist rap has and will probably ever see. |

I'm going to assume this is a joke. |
Am I still going to be helping with the full FG later on, or have you and Illmatic got it covered?
I just went ahead and threw it together, but if you have anything to add, feel free to add it here, or get at me on MSN and I will edit it in. |

I have listened to them now, not quite doing it for me. |

i'm gonna' hope its a joke |

The last one is my favorite song off of Midnight Marauders. |
Demigodz - The Godz Must Be Crazy

616 Rewind was my favourite out of the 3.
Thanks again. |

He annoys me to death. He was good on the Lif song, though. Anyway, The Demigodz probably has/had some of the best punchline rappers, ever. Louis Logic is a flawless rapper. Apathy sounds like the biggest ******* in hip-hop (in a good way) and Celph is the most hardcore yet funny rapper of them all. 616 Rewind I love, too. Tonedeff started the song amazingly. |
N.W.A rules.
Public Enemy and Run DMC are pretty good. |
Out of those, I never liked Aesop. He annoys me to death.
My respect for you++ I'll upload some stuff from Illmatic later tonight. |
Some rap is good. None of the generic, melody-less crap on MTV, but the good stuff.
eminem is the best lyricist rap has and will probably ever see.
Technically, he's not bad at all. He has a good breath control, stable flow and witty punchlines. But overal, he is terrible rapper. Greatest lyricist? Come on. You obviously haven't heard the greatness that is Ras Kass. Nature Of The Threat Download that song, and honestly try to tell me that Eminem comes even remotely close to this. Tash from Tha Alkaholiks is still the best overal rapper to me, though.
My respect for you++
Thank God I'm not alone. The only time I ever liked him was on the Mr Lif song I posted. And he only did the chorus, anyway. |

You, sir, are awesome for liking Ras Kass. I was the biggest Ras Kass groupy ever when I was 14 (haha, 2 years ago). I started listening again to him recently. I can't believe how flawless he is. Instead of sacrificing his lyrics for a good flow, he just improved his flow and delivery. And now, he's the best at what he does. Razzy and Tash should record a song together some time. Anyway. Someone should post Nature Of The Threat, Interview With A Vampire, or Van Gogh by Ras Kass. I think I will tomorow. It's late here. |
I forgot all about Rass Kass. I used to really dig him.
Tash is great, as well. I always look forward to his verses in Alkaholiks songs. |

How does that work? |
I forgot all about Rass Kass. I used to really dig him.
Tash is great, as well. I always look forward to his verses in Alkaholiks songs.
It's my favorite group. Coast 2 Coast is the best rap album I ever heard. Too bad Tash wasn't on "Hit And Run". It's hilarious how J-Ro's considered the star of Tha Alkaholiks, although the true lyrical genius was Tash. J-Ro's just decent. Too bad they broke up.
How does that work?
****ty voice, dumb lyrics, boring and overused subject matter. |
Another good rapper is Defari. Heard of him?
I listed him earleir in this topic. Look Into My Eyes is one of my favorite songs. He's cocky, but I like him. His second album was a bit boring, but his first is a west coast underground classic. Killing Spree is an amazing song as well. Hell, the whole Likwit Crew is awesome. Likwit has been my favorite crew since I started listening to hip-hop. Phil Da Agony, Tha Alkaholiks, Lootpack, Defari, King Tee. Great collective. Too bad Xzibit went pop after his second album, though. He was a great addition to the crew. |
Xzibit used to be good, but he definantly went pop.
I've got the Lootpack cd laying around my room somewhere. |
Xzibit used to be good, but he definantly went pop.
I've got the Lootpack cd laying around my room somewhere.
Yeah, it's like Xzibit rapped about his future self when he recorded "Paparazzi". Great song, though. I'm basically collecting Madlib's work. So I listen to the Lootpack on a weekly basis - used to be daily, but I'm in an emo, post-rock, math-rock, electronica, death metal and noise phase lately - but I have the Lootpack's album, their EP and their rarities collection. |
Rap is awesome. Thank you very much ATM.

It's nice to see somebody with diverse tastes like mine  |
Good thread sir, that's basically a sample of every CD of my brother's that I haven't taken out of my basement, for rap I'm really just a fan of Wu-Tang, Red Man, EPMD, Def Squad, Eminem, D12, Tupac, Notorious BIG, Wu-Tang Solo Careers (Ex. Ghost Face Killah - Iron Man, Gza - Liqued Swords, Rza - Bobby Digital, Method Man - Tikal), K-os, Nas, and a few morew that have slipped my mind :-/.
|
to sum it up: Old rap = good
New rap = no good
THANK GOD SOMEBODY AGREES! although there is exception to this rule i stand by it for the most part. |
Kanye West is good, y'all need to check out The College Dorpout if you haven't already.
Kanye West's College Dropout is a great cd that Everybody can realate to, especially if your a colleeg dropout like myself, Kanye has a great delivery style and has some very intelligent raps. |
Tash from Tha Alkaholiks is still the best overal rapper to me, though.
Man, Tash is indeed great. He has some killer lyrics and probably has one of the most distinctive voices in the whole genre- He actually sounds drunk when rhyming. |
