I couldnt download the first one for some reason
I think it's the format (sorry I am computer illiterate - I can use Word and that's about it!) - go to the website and have a listen there. Its http://www.doomshine.de/songs.php

the2stranger: I think aarni are death/doom or funeral. I don't really pay much attention to that style. I'm much more of epic and traditional doom type chap.

But if you want to talk heavy - it just doesn't come any heavier than Thee Plague of Gentlemen!

As cold as they come

Greekfire

I'm seeing this band in April and I know they're going to CRUSH!!!

KiTtIe 03-09-2005 03:59 AM

Kyuss ****ing rock.

My Dad is a big doom/stoner metal fan.

Shred Danson 03-09-2005 09:50 AM

That's pretty cool. It sucks that Kyuss aren't around anymore. And Queens of The Stoneage aren't getting any better, I'm sorry to say.
Jondur:
or who ever has great knowledge of Doom metal

can you tell me what this band is like?
aarni (well, sort of avant-garde doom, or something) - bathos

someone mentioned it a few pages back.

but is this Arcturus meets Doom metal?, if so, it's the missing link.

overflow me with your expertise please :)
It was me who mentioned it. The band is in fact one person called master warjooma or something. Thinking about it, avant garde probably isnt the right way to describe it. Probably experimental doom metal fits better. It has the odd bit of avant garde, black, folk put into it.

Its a very odd album, i dont think i can desribe it properly. But it is a very good album.

Jondur 03-10-2005 04:26 AM

Ho hum.... Today I shall give you....

THUNDERSTORM!

St Vitus "Burial at Sea"

You are a god, Jondur. Thanks, man.

Jondur 03-10-2005 10:33 AM

http://www.aarni.info/contact.html has a list of stockists. I can personally recommend Psychedoomelic and Brainticket.

Still think you'd be better off finding yourself some proper doom!

For those about to doom, we salute you!

An exlusive for mx. Here's a track from the new demo from The River (yeah, I know, try not to get too excited.). If you like it - feel free to buy a copy!

Shred Danson 03-11-2005 09:46 AM
Nice.

Out in May apparently. And by all accounts - it is amazing and the best thing since Ancient Dreams.

the2stranger 03-14-2005 03:22 AM

what is funeral doom exactly?
is it more depressing and dark than normal doom?

what bands would be considered good funeral bands to start with?

Jondur 03-14-2005 04:23 AM

Funderal doom isn't really doom in my opinion. It has it's roots much more in death metal - I certainly don't hear any link to Sabbath, Pentagram, St Vitus etc.

It is incredibly dark - usually very, very slow. Lots of keyboards, lots of screaming/growling, kind of a gothic hint with romantic type lyrics.

I'm not really a fan but bands like Until Death Overtakes Me seem to be good examples of that genre.

Yeah, I was thinking about that because I'm heading out to the record store to get some CDs, but I wasn't sure if the new Candlemass CD was out yet.

Jondur 03-16-2005 04:37 AM

In a last ditch attempt to save this thread:

I give you Revelation:

Within The Answer Lies Note the greatness of the ending.

Morning Sun

If you don't like Revelation then you're gay. Also here's some Cathedral:

NJMetalMeister 03-16-2005 05:18 AM

wow jondur, revelation are awesome, i think as the days go by i enjoy doom more and more, which is a good thing, because if you talked to me a year ago or so, the only doom bands i liked were like Novembers Doom and Candlemass, but that has changed substantially since then.

the2stranger 03-16-2005 06:05 AM

nice Jondur, I reallt appreciate how you upload songs all the time, it makes it a lot easier for a lot of people to get into the genre
/listens to revelation

quitingwednesday 03-16-2005 09:02 AM

Preaching to an audience of maybe 2 people....

Doom supergroup Place of Skulls "the Fall"

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 11:15 AM

I think we're the only two, bro.

Sad times.

Nice song, by the way. Who's in Place of Skulls?

Bartender 03-18-2005 11:16 AM

I know Wino used to be in there. I don't think he is any more though.

I don't listen to enough doom, anyway.
