Sounds good, KKKKKocaine. :)

Not much has happened for me lately ('cept homework)... one of my bands - Deprived of Sanity - got asked to play for the year 7s some time next week lol, but that's about it.

Eh... my band's not going so well.

Having a lot of trouble finding a bassist in the area, almost to the point of me knocking guitar on the head and taking up Bass myself. For the sort of music we're looking to play, it would take me no more than a few months or so to get to an acceptable level on bass.

Also, we're having trouble with writing songs. No-one seems to be on the same page. We just can't even get to the point of sitting down and actually writing a song, almost to the point of me being prepared to go and find another band. :upset:

So, I have recently realized what a killer deal Behringer gear is. What kind of cabinets would you recommend? I need some 15's X 2 per cab..

What's their intended use - Bass, PA?
What estemated power handeling are you looking at?
Will you be bi-amping?
Any preference towards specific types of connectors?

Is this kind of what you'll be looking for?

Hmm, we played for the year 7s this week. Some said it was pretty cool but a few of them told some other year 10s outside that it sucked... I don't think they even knew the song though. Don't you hate it when people just don't like it if it's not on the top 40 or something?

Okay, there's my bump - start posting again lol.

Ah well if it's original material, just keep battling at it, you'll get more and more applause for it as time goes by.
The worst thing you can do is think you need to play loads of covers to get yourself known, which is a flawed idea, you just have to battle on with the originals.
Speaking of battles, we played one last night, and the soundguy was godlike.
We and all the other bands, sounded like a CD.
In the actual battle we came third.
BTH - 173 poinds
The Comittee - 205 points
Velma - 234 points

But seen as we played against a band that has been touring for 3 years and a ska cover band I think we did really well, we played our best got some good comments from people after the gig and had fun so it was all good.
Oh and halfway through the last song a drunken guy tried to sing in my mic, so security removed him
Then afterwards he gave me a drunk talk about how we should be called The Tsunami's that I was great and that we blew everyone away (see Tsunami)

playing for y7s is a lot harder than playing for peers. they get bored easily.

the ones at our school have never liked a single band that played for them. Tightest white's first gig was for first years, and the y7s hated it. now, they're selling copies and copies of their EP and getting 100+ people at their gigs.

So what's everyone up to this weekend/coming week? Might go surfing if I get the time, but other than that, not much besides school, homework, guitar and trombone.

No gigs coming up for me :upset:

gaslight 02-25-2005 07:31 PM

This weekend I'm probably just playing guitar and bass, my laptop won't be "mine" until the end of March. I was meant to have it already but this is my life we're talking about so go figure. That means home recordings have to wait till then. In the meantime I will be trying to buy a Behringer V Amp 2 on Moaner's recommendation (I think that was it) so my guitar recordings will turn out much better when they get around to being done.

Other than that, on Tuesday I start my course for the year at Australian Institute Of Music and on Friday I have my bass lesson as usual.

That's literally everything I'm doing this week.

Trigger_003 02-26-2005 12:30 AM

Oh yeah, that's sweet as about the institute, Gaslight. Where abouts is that by the way?

Ken, would it be a good idea to put a link to The "Audacity" computer recording thread (http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274010) into the Jam Session Links?

gaslight 02-26-2005 12:32 AM

It's near Central station.

KKKKKocaine 02-26-2005 05:06 AM

Today I was meant to see a girl but she's not my girlfriend, so I decided not to, I've got about 4 assignments to get done, Music Industry, Music In Context, Sound Recording : Auxiluaries and then Acoustics.
Oh what fun

We should be doing a recording of one of our songs on tuesday, just a simple setup because of the guitarist being awkward. So we'll be recording bass, guitar and drums all at once, which gives me two dynamics for bass and guitar, 2 dynamics for drums and 1 back electret for drums. And then we're going to add the vocals on a seperate track. If it comes out well I'll let you know, if it doesn't then It's not my fault :)

Gaslight, what course are you studying?
