I apologize to anyone who thinks my song is jumbled and moved around. I didn't mean for it to seem that way. Oh, and dOpe, at the end of the song where he (I guess, unsuspectingly) lives, it was meant to be that the whole song was leading up to him being so badly beaten, and you see what it would have been like had he not faught back. The end part is sort of an "alternate ending" of sorts, where he does fight back and becomes better because of it. I know, that sh[I]i[/I]t sounds really trite...but I can't help it.

Oh.......and how come I can only read 2 posts on page 5? Are there supposed to be more, or is there a reason is abruptly ends after one of Subtle's and one of Pixies' posts. Kind of odd.

Oh, and DF, I wasn’t trying to be clever with it. Not really. And this wasn’t all to be as it was happening, only the italicized parts. Everything else was supposed to be reflective, but it’s going through his mind as if it’s happening in the moment. I guess reliving it would be a better description. So therefore, the kid is not trying to be ironic. The kid, by the way, is supposed to be in his pre-teen/early teen years. And he wasn’t weak, he just never tried to fight back until he got completely fed up with it. As for the kid drinking alcohol, it was supposed to reflect that he was doing what he saw his father always do. That same idea is expressed in the end when he fights back against his dad. I guess you could say monkey-see, monkey-do…if you’re a douchebag, that is.

Pixies, why are opinions like kittens? Is it because they're cute? Or because they're [I]deadly[/I]?.........Or perhaps some other reason I have not thought of....

To give a little better understanding to my song to those who may not quite grasp my concept, the lotus represents earth and nature and everything we as a human race take for granted. Earth reaches out to the stars to find ways to help preserve itself and its inhabitants yet those who are in its care fight amongst themselves before wasting all the resources in order to kill their enemies. When they realise what they've done they leave for the next unfortunate planet. Probably Mars but anyway I hope that brief outline helps

I think Pixiesfanyo should take back what he said in the voting. I understand his opinion and all and that's fair enough but to insult me is another thing. Isn't that a breech in the rules. I tried hard this challenge and used higher vocabulary. You crit me for doing it yet when someone else such as Jurial uses it, its cool. With a 4 star rep you should consider giving more respect even if my post count may be low. I don't go around voting calling people faggots just because I don't like their songs. It's called CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Use it instead of putting people down. They don't improve if you just insult them. If the LC forums are becoming ghetto and crap, I know who to point the finger at.

I agree...that sh*t serves no purpose

Lyrics are poetry set to music, right? There is no special structure required for something to be a lyric as long as it is planned to have music behind it, though there are status-quos that everyone feels are nessicary to have in lyrics. But if you do a prose type piece, acutally make it good.

There is no black/white definition of lyrics. Its all subjective. When I read an entry here, I vote on what the piece envokes in me. Your points, as stated, are all valid. Someone could put the rules to this challenge to music and probably have (see cytoplasmicglob) and who is to say if they're lyrics or not. Your entry did not envoke a musical/lyrical sense in me. I thought it very interesting piece but got much more of a spoken vibe than musical.
