As far as the worst goes, i wouldn't know, because i don't listen to bands that suck. If i hear a song that sucks, i either tune it out or turn it off before it gets to the solo.

well i wasnt saying we was bad, in fact hes fukin awesome, and he can do great solos (take the power back/settle for nothing/darkness) but sometimes he, quite frankly, makes some real boring solos, especially on audioslaves cd, whether he has effects or not makes no difference, some solos are cool and some others are crap, its no biggie, hes good anyway

Like the guy said, he's good at fitting the solo to the music.

Fred's 'shredding' is hilarious. We discovered his official weblog, it's well and truly awful. He clams to 'jam on my acoustic' alot, and there's photos of him wearing Sonic Youth and the Smiths shirts. Yeah right, Fred, it's the worst attempt at credibility. It's repulsive.

Just because it isn't ****ing crazy stuff like Rage doesn't mean its bad, Audioslave is taking a more melodic soft sadder theme.

I hate rages guitar solos...i think their pathetic. I dont care that he works with the effects, but if he is, make it sound good. Audioslaves is better though

Has anyone else ever heard that old clip of Zero playing? It's not the worst but it's bad and funny. Especially after you read the thread it came from.

I love tom morello, i think he's a fantastic guitarist, but the solo for snakecharmer irritates the living hell out of me

I dunno. Most guitarists brave enough to venture out on a solo have the talent to make it sound good. However, I do think that a lot of the so-called solos on slipknot's new album are a load of crap(meaning they are purely for show, not emotion or skill), and the solo in Breaking Benjmain's "so cold" has a sour note in it towards the end.


A lot of Dimebag darrell's solos are a pure slew of harmonics and whammy bar abuse---don't get me wrong, I love dimebag, but some of the stuff gets irritating after awhile. My lead guitarist in my band worships dimebag, and plays his sh!t constantly, and it just gives you a headache after a while--a nonstop regiment of pinch harmonics gets old.

Suck me sideways. There are a sh[SIZE=2]it[/SIZE]load of punk guitarists that own many rock/metal guitarists. ex. Chris Cheney (The Living End), Chris Flippin (Lagwagon, RKL), El Hefe (NOFX), and whoever plays guitar in the Minutemen.

when i played guitar i couldn't play most band riffs yet i learned the solo in like 5 mins its that easy

Most of Nirvana's solos are pretty **** terrible (would've been better for the song to leave them out at times), but listen to Aero Zeppelin and tell me Kurt cannot play guitar. The shred on that thing rules...sorta. well, for modern rock standards it's pretty fast and original...

sometimes I feel defending some bands is like promoting a product you know doesn't work. bah. and that fred durst clip is incredibly funny.
