I'm confused, what guitarists were in Black Sabbath, and which with Ozzy? Also, what's the difference?
|

Black Sabbath had one guitarist named Iommi, even during their Dio years. Ozzy uses a guitarist named Zakk Wylde but there was one before him (maybe even two) but I don't know the difference and I think one of the guitarists were killed in a plane crash or something, is that right. Personally, I really can't tell the difference between the guitarists |

Personally, I really can't tell the difference between the guitarists
ozzy's solo career started with randy rhoads, then i believe a guy filled in for a tour, but jake e lee (ozzy's most overlooked guitarist) took the job for a while, then jake left and zakk came on board, zakk left at some point in the 90's and ozzy recruited a guy who used to be a student of rhoads back when he taught guitar.
is there a site, cd, dvd (and so on) with songs like 'blue swade shoes' and all the blues stuff they used to play on, some of it is really good
you can get blue swede on dvd on the "Black Sabbath: The Black Sabbath Story Vol. 1" that entire dvd covers the entire ozzy years as a biography and features a bunch of live preformences. i'm off to go look for that dvd right now to post a track list, and because i wanna watch it... so i'll edit it in in a couple minutes Edit: Weird, it wasn't there... i was sure that it was, i'm sure i've got a dvd of it somewhere NIB Live In paris Paranoid Belgiun Tv show War Pigs Live in paris Children Of The Grave Ontario Speedway California Jam April 74' Snowblind Live in london Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Promo vid Symptom Of The Universe Live London It's Alright promo vid featuring bill ward on vox Rock And Roll Doctor promo video Never Say Die Top of the pops Hard Road promo video Edit 2: Found the dvd with blue swede shoes, it's on ozzy's dvd "Don't Blame Me: The Tales Of Ozzy Osbourne" for some reason every thing about this dvd escapes me right now aside from him telling the viewers the right line in paranoid "Enjoy life" not "End your life" |
My favorite Sabbath song is War Pigs. They have a lot of good tunes, but War Pigs rules.
|
War pigs is almighty....right next to that comes snowblind....its just so uplifting. Icicles within my brain...cocaine *eigthnote*

Almost right. Black Sabbath have only ever had Tony Iommi, he IS Black Sabbath, without him there's nothing to the band. He quit in 1970 to play for Jeffro Tull, he was with them for about 3 weeks then he returned to Black Sabbath. When Ozzy was sacked from the band, he started his solo career with Randy Rhoads, who was killed in a plane crash in 1982. Then on the 'Speak of the Devil' tour, there was a replacement guitarist who I forget the name of. Jake.E Lee was on Bark at the Moon(1985?) and The Ultimate Sin.(1986/7?) Zakk Wylde was on No Rest for the Wicked(1988), No More Tears(1991?), Live and Loud(1993), Ozzmosis(1995) and Down to Earth(2001?). There was a rumour flying around that Jerry Cantrell is supposed to on the next Ozzy solo album, but I have no idea how true that is. |

Ozzy has about 5 - 10 years left in him max. Dio has said that he'd like to work with Iommi again, but he doesn't want to work with Geezer or Bill. I think the original line-up have about 2 more tours left in them, then Black Sabbath will most likely call it a day. Although, Black Sabbath will only finish doing their thing, when Tony Iommi decides to call it a day, seeing as he IS Sabbath. He owns all the rights to the name etc... |

by reunion, I meant the reunion tour of 2000
|
It depends on the venue.
Most places have an age restriction of either 12 or 14, unless its a club where the age restriction is 18. But Sabbath shows should be all ages. |
what about ozzfest? I want to go next year.....
|
When I went in 2002 at Donington, I think it was if you were 12 or under, you had to be accompanied by an adult, over the age of 12 was fine.
Something along those lines, but don't expect Sabbath to headline next year if Ozzy gets a new album out anytime soon. |
Ok, cool. Anyway, my favorite Sabbath song would have to be either Sabbath Bloody Sabbath or War Pigs. I also like children of the sea.
|
Me being a bassist you just gotta love NIB for Geezer's beast *** intro solo
(>'.')> <( '.' )> <('.'<) |
That solo is so much fun to improvise with, and with added Wah its even better.

You said Zakk quit in the 90's. And I just felt like making a long post. |
zakk did leave in the 90's, but i meant he stopped touring with ozzy. this was after ozzmosis (obviously)

He left to work with BLS right? Then he came back to Ozzy for Down to Earth seeing as between 1997 and 1999 Ozzy was back with Sabbath. |

Then he came back to Ozzy for Down to Earth seeing as between 1997 and 1999 Ozzy was back with Sabbath.
yeah, but zakk left after ozzmosis, and another dude was brought in, most likely joe holmes ( i was just looking for this on the net and nobody has any info... i hate this crap) joe holmes is also the dude who you see playing guitar in the perry mason video I"M NOT CRAZY!!! I SWEAR I"M NOT!!! |
Black Sabbath are classic, one of a handful of bands I'm always able to spin and enjoy. Geezer's awesome bass playing made me want to learn. :smoke: Favorite songs? ...
Hand of Doom Electric Funeral War Pigs Snowblind The Wizard N.I.B. Supernaut etc. Anything before Ozzy left -- not because I love Ozzy, but 'cause that was basically their creative high point. |

I agree with you unflea, although I like Sabbath still when Dio joined, Mob Rules being an awesome album, the spirit of the band when Ozzy was with them cannot be matched! The first album I heard of theirs was Paranoid and Hand of Doom is basically responsible for me learning guitar! My favourite songs would have to be;
Hand Of Doom The Wizard N.I.B Fluff The Warning As a side question, does anyone know of which release of Black Sabbath (the album) the song The Warning was released on? As I understand it it is not on every release but some kind of special edition unless im mistaken! Which is a shame because that song really demonstrates Iommi's ablilties IMO, it almost feels like an improvised track in some places....Awesome! (sorry for the long post) |
To my knowledge, The Warning was on both the European and the USA release of Black Sabbath.
The differences in the album were with the songs Evil Woman and Wicked World. The Europeans got Evil Woman on the original release of Black Sabbath, because an American band/artist wrote the song and there was something to do with copywrites that they couldn't be arsed sorting out, so they put Wicked World on the American release of Black Sabbath. So we got Evil Woman, and America got Wicked World, neither got both. But these days, the re-masters of Black Sabbath have all the tracks on: Black Sabbath The Wizard Behind the Wall of Sleep N.I.B Evil Woman Wicked World Sleeping Village/The Warning Also, The Warning is one of my fav. Sabbath songs to play on bass, there's so much room for improvising, its great. |
