That sucks. They played both when I saw them.
|
They did the first time i saw them so i'm not too fussed. Would've been nice if they had played them though
|
I'd love to go to that show only for Bouncing Souls.

Dropkick Murphys The Blue Bloods The Blue Bloods: Amazing band. i had heard a lot of their songs before seeing them and loved em. they are awesome live. it was cool cause i got to sing into the mic for the song "twice as strong". the only thing that i didnt like was they didnt play "im going down" Dropkick Murphys: What can i say. starting off with a bagpipe line, lead by scruffy then going into "for boston" then "Workers song", "upstairs and broken hearts", then "boys on the docks", they started off with a kick *** list. it was my first time crowd surfing and i loved it. umm, lets see, the whole concert was a blast, they had a great list. they went all the way back to their first cd play the song "in the streets of boston", which was awesome. uhhh they played like 4 new songs that should be onb a new cd coming out in june. they had one dedicated to chickenman, and one for mickey uhh, watever his last name is, the boxer from boston. yeah, it was awesome. Rating: 10/10 |
March 19, The Vault 350 Long Beach, CA
Some Band Werent on the bill but they sounded alright. They had a lead asian guitarist who looked funny and acted weird. Asian peaple are funny.2/5 Some Other Band These guys werent on the band but they were better. They were weird. They were like goth and glam. The Guitarist was wearing a big purple fur coat and eyeliner and the bassist and singer were both women. They were both hideous. They sounded good. I never got the names of the these 2 bands. 3/5 D.I Good show. I had never seen em or heard but my friend told me they were good. Rikk Agnew(guitarist of the adolescents) played for them and i bought an adolescents shirt at the show. They ended theyre set with Amoeba 5/5 The Dickies I dont like them but they put on a good show. The singers voice is annoying. The singer talks alot. He kept taking out props and things to make jokes.None of the songs stood out to me. 2/5 FEAR I came to see FEAR and it was well worth it. They opened theyre set with I love living in the city and played all theyre good songs. They brought out a guy who played a saxaphone(saxaphonist?) for 2 songs which added alot to the music. They ended theyre set with Let's have a War 5/5 Good Show. Worth the 20. |
Doesn't Fear's guitarist play the Sax on their songs usually, or did they just bring out a fourth guy to do it. I'd love to see them live I didn't think they were still touring.
|
Nope they introduced the guy who played the sax. They said he was the saxaphonist of some world famous Orchestra.

March, 18 - The Unseen/Brain Failure
Venue - Saratoga Winners : Venue isn't that bad, it's better for more popular bands and gives off an odd vibe when bands bring in smaller crowds, but I wasn't complaining. Brain Failure - These guys were super cool. From the lyrics to their songs, they seem to talk about how they are from Beijing and how they came to America a lot in their songs. Between songs, they'd joke around saying, "We're not Japanese, but we sure love sushi!" while speaking English sloppy. All in all, their sound was class street punk simply, while they added a well done ska song to their set. I hope they come around here again. 8/10 The Unseen - I was expecting an energetic show, and they delivered. Played well known songs such as "Are we dead yet?" and "So this is freedom" (which by the way, got to sing the chorus to), and added in a cover of "Rise Above". Did an awesome job throughout the set. Halway through the set, my friend dropped his hat on stage, mind you he looked like he was in his pajamas and decided to throw on some boots that day, and Mark goes "Hey, who's cool No Fear hat is this?" haha. Luckily enough, my friend started joking about the whole incident later and thought it was pretty funny.9/10 Overall, it was a really fun night. Sadly, there were a lot of people there not skanking so much as literally just running in a circle and a few kids who didn't know what to do in a pit who weren't dancing, so much as just slapping people. But again, politics aside, bands did an awesome job. |
I missed The Unseen and Brain Failure cause i had to go to the dentist...... Double :(

EDIT.

Rise Against / Crap / Crap / Crap
Ok, let's get the beginning sh!t bands out of the way.
Alexisonfire didn't show up. Made me happy. 10/10 The Black Maria Purposely showed up late to miss them. 0/10 Brazil Tried to miss them, but ended up catching their last few songs. Horrible. 0/10 Rise Against In-fuckin-credible. Crowd was decent as far as the responsiveness goes. I think I remember the whole setlist. Not in order though. Alive And Well 1,000 Good Intentions Black Masks & Gasoline Heaven Knows Dead Ringer Like The Angel Voices Off Camera Broken English State Of The Union The First Drop Life Less Frightening Blood To Bleed To Them These Streets Belong Tip The Scales Anywhere But Here Give It All Dancing For Rain Swing Life Away And I think that was about it. Might have missed one. I was very happy with the setlist. They covered the majority of their catalogue though, so it would be hard not to be happy with it. Not much to say really. Except that it was great. 9/10 I would have probably gave this show a lower rating if I had to wait and sit through the other bands. But since I didn't..... Overall - 8/10 |
I can never remember a set list.
|
I'm seeing Mindless Self Indulgence next month at the Henry Fonda for those who don't think they suck

Why would people skank at an Unseen show? |
I can never remember a set list.
It's hard for me to remember the entire set from some bands who have a lot of material. Rise Against is easy though. To help jog my memory, I looked at each CD and I listed the ones that came to mind. If you notice they are in order of CD and not in order of play. Alive And Well is the first track on their first album. Swing Life Away is the second to last track on their most recent album. And I don't drink. Except tonight, right when RA started to play, this b'itch next to me spilled her beer all over my face. |
EDGE BREAK! you hipocrit

sometime in march i went to see goldfinger in milwaukee at a ****hole called "the rave"
i had to sit though some really **** band that i forgot the name of already. They ate shi't...and no one liked them... Then The Start Came on. Ok set, but idk, i dont like them so it was lame sitting through it. Then there was a whole fu'cking hour between the start and Goldfinger because of some kind of stupid technical problems. When goldfinger finally hit hte stage, it was great. The first song was Im Down, one of my favorites. Then, in the middle of the second song, things are going good, when TWO HULK HOGAN *** MOTHERFU'CKING SECURITY GUARDS come in out of nowhere, to kick me out for moshing.. so i had to stand outside for the rest of the show. But i did get to meet goldfinger, and they gave me and my friends all the cool free signed **** they were going to give the ****HOLE venue.. haha so yeah, the moral of the story is that The Rave in milwaukee sucks, and so do they're bullsh'it security guards.. i think it was jello who once said "Fat *** bouncers kick the sh'it out of kids who try to dance" |
Why would people skank at an Unseen show?
Because I wasn't there to beat them up and stop them. |

Flogging Molly/Catch 22/Ducky Boys
Ducky Boys - one of my favorite bands, they played a great set. i missed the first few songs, cause i got to the show late. Catch 22 - I didn't know anything cept the songs from Keasbey Nights. they put on a great show, they played: 9mm and a 3 piece suit, on and on and on, keasbey nights. Flogging Molly: Amazing show. they came out with screaming at the wailing wall, then went right into swagger, they were awesome. with the exeption of me smashing my face into the stage, this show was awesome!! 10/10 |

April 22nd: Flogging Molly/The Briefs/The Dead Pets
First up were The Dead Pets. They were awesome in every way. The playing was tight and Sweeney was a madman. He came down the front and sang right in people's faces and made great jokes between songs. The best songs were Uncle Festa, We're Coming Back (I was right up singing into the mike. There were three other guys singing with me and I was the only one without a foot high mohawk. They looked a bit surprised that I knew the lyrics.) and Dreams For A Crook. On Dreams For A Crook they hooked up a platic skull and proceeded to tell everyone how everyone should worship it as it cost 50p and could burst into flames at any moment. They were great even if their set was a bit short. 10/10
The Briefs were next. They looked like a cross between The Ramones and The Toy Dolls. Leather Jackets and Jeans with short, blond spiky hair and sunglasses. They played well but not spectacularly. The best song they played was Destroy The USA. 7/10 Flogging Molly announced their arrival with Johnny Cash on the PA which upped my opinion of them. I don't know many songs by them but they played all the ones I knew and played them well. The crowd was really into it by this point as well. They dedicated one song to their Fiddle Player who wasn't their as she was having an operation on her hand and another to Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer. They ended with What's Left Of The Flag as I knew they would but it was still cool. 8.5/10 Overall it was a really good gig. I picked up a Dead Pets t-shirt too. 9/10 |
I want to see the dead pets.
|
I might go and see that show on tuesady. Dead Pets are amazing live, one of the best bands i've ever seen.
|
If all goes well, with the planning and rides a such, i should be seeing The Johnstones, The Heatskores, Keepin 6, Buda Funk Munk and Green Division tonight.
|
Dead Pets are amazing live, one of the best bands i've ever seen.
Same here.
|
All went well for the most part!
Buda Funk Munk, Johnstones, Keepin 6 , Green Division, And The Heatskores! First Buda Funk Munk played, i really like them, well the singer/guitarist made up the band, the rest of them just stood there and played. But they did a Hardcore song, I got out of the skank pit pretty fast thank god, i dont think im scene enough to dance hardcore. then The Johnstones! this was my favourite set of the night. They had a little dance before the set which was pretty cool, and their music is just so awesome ( I suggest anyone who likes ska to check em out) Then Keepin 6! I love keepin 6... Theres not much to say about them... Uh.. they did a pink floyd cover. and i bought a shirt and talked to the band for a bit. Then Green Division, I HATE green division and thoes **** matching green ties. and the guitar kept breaking. Lastly The Heatskores!! well I didnt get to see the whole set( ride problems) but it was awesome none-the-less. |
like sketchy joe said about flogging molly, the dead pets and the briefs, flogging molly were amazing, the briefs were a bit crap and the dead pets were the best support act i've seen. i was at the front for the briefs and flogging molly, got some good photos of the band too (see below) i missed the last 4 songs cause of the trains which sucked but i left just as they finished salty dog! overall it was a really good evening.
now for a few snaps...
