My Recommendations:
(For fans of: Underoath, Emery, The Used) Saosin: Although they only have an EP out, and the same singer from that EP left and now a new singer is in the band, they're still really amazing. Blending angelic vocals with the just right amount of screaming, and almost Killswitch Engage type guitar, (but not AS good), though still catchy as hell. Check them out at http://www.myspace.com/saosin . (For Fans of: The Matches, Saves the Day, HelloGoodBye) Ludo: Haha, what can I say about Ludo. They won the FUSE's battle of the bands, and for that made a music video for the song "Hum Along". Ludo's lyrics are never serious, and always pretty funny. Power-pop at some of its finest, check them out at http://www.myspace.com/ludorock . (For Fans of: Coheed and Cambria, Fall Out Boy, Good Music) Gatsby's American Dream: Ah, another fine band coming out of the Seattle area (Home of The Blood Brothers). Gatsby's American Dream mix simplistic yet interesting guitar riffs, and some of the smartest lyrics you will find out there. Their new album "Volcano" has raved reviews, and I dont doubt any reasons why. The vocals may take a "little" bit of time to get used to, but if you have already gotten used to Coheed or Fall Out Boy, it'll be easy for you. Check them out at http://www.myspace.com/gatsbysamericandream . |

Almost every song off of the albums Ten or Vs. is pretty good. |

Here's my recommendations for the week:
Lorene Drive are my first recommendation. Their new album is amazing, heavy and overall fun to listen to. Lots of overdrive, their sound is a mixture of Emanuel and American Hi-Fi. They can pull out the poppy sound without losing volume or tempo. If you're gonna check out any songs, listen to "God Knows I Love You Kid" and "A Song In The Key Of Sex". Cauterize are another rocky band driven by hard-hitting riffs and heartfelt lyrics. Their new album Paper Wings combines fast-beats with melodic riffs and passionate vocals. Listen to "Tremble" and "Closer" for an idea of how the album sounds. Jack's Mannequin have been being whored by me since I heard them, but honestly, I believe their album Everything In Transit will be the best of the year. Piano-based ballads filled with electronic beats and beautiful guitar melodies just make song after song a hit. Listen to "The Mixed Tape" and "Into The Airwaves" to find out how amazing this band are. Fight Paris are a more hardcore band, with most their lyrics being centered around sex. And not like pretty lyrics you'd sing to a girl. Their "party hard, work harder" attitude is proven with their heavy and fast anthems. Check out "Complete Heat" and "Destroyer" to get a taste of this band. BEDlight for BlueEYES are my last recommendation, and a fine one at that. Their sound is a sort of mix between pop-punk and glam rock, with lots of solos being jammed into their harsh and loud songs. Listen to "Dig On This" and Ephemeral Addictions" and begin waiting for their debut full-length. If anyone wants albums by any of these bands (Par Jack's Mannequin, who I have all but 2 songs from the album, and BEFBE, who's album hasn't even leaked) uploading, just ask. |

It's funny I was going to remark how much they sound like SoCo... Until I realised it was Andrew singing  |
Kiros: Catchy rock/punk with solid lyrics and some jizzin' guitarwork.
|
I think I'll do a bit of recommending, seen as my hours of purevolume browsing needs to have a result.
Ok.. 15 Minutes Late These guys really do seem to do it well, great mix of pop-punk and rock, the songs really seem to have character, and the catchy choruses and great musician skills really make this band a great band to listen to. From Naperville, IL Caffeine This band seem to be brilliant at mixing pop and punk together, i don't know what it is, maybe the techno based drum machine and the girlish style vocals (male) but it all seems to come together to make great music. From London, Uk. Vanilla Sky They might have a band name the same as a Tom Cruise film, but seriously this band (from Rome, Italy) really know what they're doing, great pop-punk, and the accent really does it for me. |
King Elementary, Big D and the Kids Table, and Streetlight Manifesto

I don't think I need to say much more. Hard for me to think of someone else to relate them too. But, they are really really good. :thumb: |

And wwb27, at least try and write something about them to get us started. |
Kif's Weekly Recommendations
The Fall Of Troy are easily my first pick of the week. Doppelganger has proved to be the milestone in their discography, combining devilishly fast licks with Tom's high-pitched screaming and somewhat beautiful singing. Check out "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X." and "Laces Out, Dan!" on their Purevolume for a taster of this awesome band. The Junior Varsity are another band combining electronic synth with a genre, and it works incredibly well. Their new album Wide Eyed takes some getting into, but it's a non-stop ride of poppy tunes. Sure, it's not that original, but it works so well. Listen to "Get Comfortable" and "Mad For Medusa" on their Purevolume. Emery are my next recommendation. The Weak's End was such an impressive debut album, and their new release matches up to their standard of combining heavy riffs with poppy melodies and the occasional scream. Listen to "So Cold I Can See My Breath" and "Listening To Freddy Mercury" from their new album The Question now! Cartel. I can't not recommend this band. Trust me when I say the new album Chroma is going to kick ass, and likely be my anthem for the summer. I've got some of the new demos, they are just so energetic and crazy! Listen to "Honestly" and "Luckie St." for a glimpse into the new feel-good hit of the year. Nightmare Of You are my final recommendation. Fronted by former Movielife guitarist, Brandon Reilly, this band are bringing sounds from bands like The Smiths and Echo And The Bunnymen to the 21st century. You can only listen to "Dear Scene, I Wish I Was Deaf" on their Purevolume, taken from their EP. All these band's new records and EPs will be up for download in the YSI thread ASAP, but listen to their Purevolume's to get a glimpse into these bands until they are up |
Madison - A talented pop-punk band with a good mix of screaming and singing. You can download their entire debut EP, For The First Time In Years...I'm Leaving You, on Purevolume.
http://www.purevolume.com/madison |
Some recommendations from me:
Burning Bright (Pop-punk) "Since their inception Burning Bright has used the Internet to their full advantage building a dedicated community of fans across the world through their MP3’s sites and online communities." This is good for you, as it means more free music :p Follow the Purevolume links and you can get up to 10 songs from this energetic pop-punk band. Boys Night Out (Pop-punk with screaming) If you ever hate your ex so much that you hope they wrap their car around a tree and then laugh sadistically as it bursts into flames, look no further than these guys. Some rather violent lyrics, delightfully and happily sung. Dead Poetic (emocore, I think) I don't know exactly how to compare them to other bands I know... hard rock, screaming and melodic singing with some harmonies, and some crunching guitar chords. Very good lyrics. |
For fans of Blink 182 and Green Day, I say listen to Allister.Really cool pop-punk band that could fill Blink 182s missing space in the pop-punk world if they get a big enough fan base.

Fonzie - pop-punk -> They're very popular here in Portugal.

Kif's Sunday Recommendations!
I Am The Avalanche are going to be amazing this summer. Their debut self-titled album hits stores in September and is high on my "Most Wanted" list. Made up of members of the ex-Drive-Thru band The Movielife, IATA bring a more mature feel to the former pop-punk band. Listen to "New Disaster" and "Dead And Gone" to get a look into this amazing band. Houston Calls are my next major recommendation. It took me a while to get past their not-too-original songs, but after that you see they are a chirpy pop-pun band. Think of them as The Starting Line with a singer with balls and synth. Listen to "Sunrise Goodbyes" and "Exit, Emergency" for a glmpse of this band. Bullet For My Valentine were iffy for me as well at first. I wrote them off as an Atreyu-copy, but after another listen of their EP, I noticed they have some damn catchy stuff! Their mix of metal licks, well sung songs and cliché lyrics are sure to make them a hit later this year when their album drops. Check out "Hand Of Blood" and "Turn To Despair". The Bled are going to break out this year. Pass The Flask was amazing, and the 2 songs released from their new album sound so good as well. Their intense mix of metal, hardcore and indie have gotten them many fans. Listen to "My Assassin" and "Porcelain Hearts And Hammers For Teeth" for an idea of this awesome band. Idiot Pilot are my final recommendation. They are 2 men who give experimental a new meaning. They combine electronic melodies with harsh and heavy riffs and screaming. It works well, as their album Strange We Should Meet Here proves. Listen to "The Violent Tango" and "Losing Color" to get into this band more. I'll upload albums I have into the YSI thread as soon as I can so you can listen to these bands more. IATA nor The Bled have leaked yet, so I will upload their splits with E11 and FATA. Wow, lots of initials |
The Bled are going to break out this year. Pass The Flask was amazing, and the 2 songs released from their new album sound so good as well.
Wow. This suprised me. I remember the "Spitshine Sonata" and "You Know Who's Seatbelt" on Pass The Flask. Those songs were tight. The new ones are just bleh. They turned into a pop-punk band with lame and out of place heavy/dissonant moments. His singing voice isn't nearly as good as his scream.
Idiot Pilot are my final recommendation. They are 2 men who give experimental a new meaning.
This band is cool :D |
I think I'll do a bit of recommending, seen as my hours of purevolume browsing needs to have a result.

From London, Uk.
I saw this band live a couple years ago, they weren't all that great, maybe i'll check them out again, see if they've got better. Kif has already mentioned them, but i really think everyone should check out Emery, both 'The Weaks End' and their new album, 'The Question' are awesome. Definately a band worth listening to, they're going to be big. |

You owe it to yourself to check these bands out...
Inferis - A local hardcore/metal band that is absolutely amazing. I just got back from seeing them, and they were insane. Influences include Fear Before the March of Flames, The Bled, and Dillinger Escape Plan The Line Dance Massacre - Another local hardcore/metal band I had the pleasure of seeing. Their set was amazing. Heavy screams + crazy guitar = awesome. I bought an EP from both bands, so if you are interested, let me know and I will try to upload it to YSI or send it over AIM. |
Drumming + Screaming = Admirable.
Both bands were tight. You have either of their EP's or albums to upload in the YSI thread?
Yeah, I bought both of the EPs (demos actually) tonight, so I can try and upload them. |
Here are a couple awesome local bands that are definately worth checking out:
By Autumn's End - Awesome local band. Sort of like Silverstein or Senses Fail. xTo This Dayx - A local straightedge hardcore band. Insane live act. And here is another awesome band you have probably already heard of, but if not, definately check them out: Evergreen Terrace - Hardcore/Metalcore band out of Jacksonville, Florida. They put on an awesome show as well. |
GYROSCOPE:
check out gyroscope now! they toured Australia with Blink182 and are an incredible mix of punk/poppunk/grunge/rock http://www.gyroscope.com.au http://www.myspace.com/gyroscope |
