A job at the nice big corporate screwball record shop, Sanity.
Sanity? Ah jeez dude, I hate that shop, they charge way too much. I'm actually boycotting them. It's a one man boycott, but I think they're beginning to feel the pain.

I'd love to work there though.

Tapeworm 09-15-2004 10:34 AM

Haha, that's how I always felt, but it's the only record store in the town where I live, so if I get the job I get 25% off everything, so it will be normal price. I'm going for the job to make it, for me, like a good record store.

Sanity does, however, have some really good buys sometimes. I got like every Dylan album I own for $10 from there.
I've never seen that, but it sounds scary as hell. Personally I think that Shymalan (sp?) is very overrated as a director. Signs was pretty bad, and The Ring really dissapointed me.
Yeah the original was more psychological, chilling and inferred and left you with poop in your pants. the US version I still liked but it went too far in making the story a bit more obvious for general consumption. Less is more imho.
signs was actually quite funny, was it meant to be scary?? lol.
He has his moments, Unbreakable was a really imaginative take on the superhero genre, and the Sixth Sense was pretty good too.
i thought sixth sense was pretty clever. i like that in a film. if i can understand the storyline in a film then i'm disappointed. hence i love mulholland drive. i still don't understand it now.

Happymeal 09-15-2004 05:09 PM

Japanese horror movies was really a fad back home, and for me, they're scarier than most horror/suspense films right now. If you can get hold of a copy of The Ring trilogy or The Grudge(part 1), good for you. Good luck sleeping with the lights out though. Speaking of movies, anyone like The Butterfly Effect? I thought it was really great, kinda creepy too. One of the few recent good movies, IMO.. and I wanna watch The Girl Next Door sooo bad too..:upset:

Wanker 09-15-2004 05:33 PM

Ringu was awesome :thumb:

The best recent movie by far, is "Anchorman". It's the balls.

Tapeworm 09-16-2004 06:53 AM

Girl Next Door was cool.

I thought the Directors Cut of Butterfly Effect made it way too Donnie Darko. It was a better film than I expected it to be though, and yes I have seen the proper version as well.

Best recent movie I've seen is probably Monster.

Master Arkam Kannon 09-16-2004 11:44 AM

Hero, Garden State, and Its Delovely have been my favorite movies ive seen this summer...

Ah, I haven't watched that yet but anything with Will Ferrell(sp?) in it is always the balls.. reminds me of Superstar, hahaha. Watch The Grudge(Japanese horror) if you have the chance, it's awesome too. Hero is the shit!! I think that it's very underrated, and most people only see it as "a cool flying kung-fu movie". Oh god I wanna watch The Girl Next Door so bad. My nympho tendencies are acting up again..

Wanker 09-16-2004 05:43 PM

I thought "balls" was supposed to be used in a negative context?

such as: aww, balls :upset:

Tomahawk 09-16-2004 11:32 PM

It's used in a positive context in Anchorman, and I've been using it like that ever since. Because I'm an unoriginal bastard.

Tapeworm 09-17-2004 12:29 AM

I really wanna see Napolean Dynamite. I think that's what it's called, I always forget.

guitarbaz 09-17-2004 02:04 AM

over here it's something good, but used in the context "the dog's bollocks" meaning something good. and bollocks means balls.
heh. an alternative english lesson.

twistinside 09-17-2004 04:17 AM

Tapeworm 09-17-2004 07:10 AM

for that record store? maybe you should keep you soul in a mayonaise jar and put it on top of the fridge before you go to work everyday.

Tapeworm 09-17-2004 07:32 AM

Yeah I'm not too happy about that, but it's about the best job I can get in my town, as it's the only record store. Plus I get 25% off CDs, so my soul's probably not worth that much.

Wanker 09-17-2004 08:03 AM

25% off???

heck, you should gift-wrap your soul and give it to the owner of the store.

...then i realize that downloading is even cheaper than 25% off...

in conclusion: meh.

Tapeworm 09-17-2004 08:30 AM

Ha, I would get paid to work there though, and possibly I can get some influence over the way it's run. Hey hey. I think working in a video store and a record store would definately be very awesome.

Yeah, just think of all the useless knowledge you'd be able to collect after working there for years on end.

anyways: working at a record store > working at a video store

thetwaz 09-17-2004 08:56 AM

It's always been my dream to work in a shop like Empire Records (Thats a fictional shop for anyone who hasn't seen the film.) Aside from being an international rock star, a test pilot and an astronaut of course....

Tapeworm 09-17-2004 09:32 AM

Exactly, I think it is gunna be pretty sweet if I get the job.

twistinside 09-17-2004 10:53 AM
