I wanna listen to that! |
^I couldnt find it:(
So Mclusky-lightsabre cocksucker balls whatever. A band which i have heard a lot about but not actually hear any of their recordings. Starts with hi-hat. Guitar plays quick chords and just vocals and drums in between these guitars...and now everything comes in and its quite rocking. Im not all that convinced by the lyrics and the vocals 'im fearfull of flying and flying is fearfull of me'? Hmmm. Tight musicianship..bam bam bam bam bam beat then the same bit plays a again with a bam bam bam bam bam bam...speeds up now and it ends..wow that was very short. Tight but nothing amazing 6/10 My songs Ryan adams-shadowlands grandaddy-he's simple, he's dumb, he's the pilot silver mt zion-13 angels standing guard round the side of your bed Air-alone in kyoto |

Ryan Adams - Shadowlands
OK I've heard of this dude, but this is the first song of his that I've actually listened to... This is nice. Very bare and lonely sounding. Nice lyrics, nice singing. Ok we're about 2:30 minutes in, and those 3 piano notes are getting a bit repetetive. Hey good, just as I typed that, in comes the guitar and the violin and stuff. And then it's instrumental until the end of the song. This song really reminds me of "Here comes the flood" by Peter Gabriel. And that's a good thing. So yeah this is a pretty good song. I'm probably gonna check out some more of his songs now. I give it a magical 8/10. That's right, magical. The Replacements - Unsatisfied 4:01
The Replacements are the only band I haven't heard on that list, you have good taste. It's also nice to see another Gang of Four fan here, okay, i'll get ot the review. The songs starts on what sounds like a 12 sting guitar, the pattern is fairly simple nothing special. At 35 seconds in the Drums come in, it's a nice release. The vocals are good, I like how he streches notes out for long screams. Now there's some slide guitar in the backround, I thought The Replacements were a punk band. The bridge reminds me of a different song that I can't remeber right now (It's has to do with the type of strummning of the chords). At this point the vocals is what is keeping this song interesting, this is very rare for me. The song then ends on a 30 second fade out. Fugazi-Waiting room
A song which i have not heard from fugazi, even though 'argument' is one of my favourite albums ever! Stars off with pretty nifty bassline, drums come in and change the tempo a little. Guitar comes in, and it stops...and nothing happens..oh yes. Verse starts and that unmistakable fugazi vocal comes in, and this is good so far...its quite groovy in a sense and the vocals are almost poppy. And then the chorus comes in and..is quite short but sweet. Drums stop, few fills with dischord guitar and straight into that verse riff again. The backing vocals are great. Chorus again...and an instrumental chorus. And its carrying on witht he dynamic change's. I assume this is the outro, and yes it is because its stopped. Air - alone in kyoto
i never really listened to air that much so this should be interesting. the song starts out with a lone booping sound and then is accompanied by acoustic guitar. Some electric organ noise are heard to. The guitar changes its chords up along with everything else. The music seems to be moving back and forth now. I hear piano! Now the guitar is back to its original riff. The booping sound is still there. No vocals yet; this just continues for a little while longer until it goes back to what i guess would be the chorus. This sounds really good. I'm liking it. Slow, and has a nice beat to it. The music stopped and now there's just a single piano which is soon joined by strums from an acoustic guitar. There are sounds of waves in the background hitting shore. And the song ends here. I really liked it. Maybe I'll check out some more Air :thumb: 9/10 Porcupine Tree - Hello Explosions in the Sky - 6 Days at the Bottom of the Ocean Smashing Pumpkins - The Ethers Tragic or Set the Ray to Jerry |

Porcupine Tree - Hello
Starts off with a piano, John Lennon like. Lyrics are quite depressing. The drums kick in and i presume this is the chorus starts with "Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello", sounds as if it'd be repetative but it's actually quite good. Back to the verse with piano, vocal and drums. I actually quite like this song, even though it reminds me of Radiohead and i dislike radiohead. It is a depressing song yeah, but it's just chillout, nothing too loud. A guitar solo is upon me and it fits in perfectly with a very Steve Vai tone. Guitar solo is over, oh, and so is the song. I feel like I wanted it to go on for longer than that but it was a good song overall. 8/10. Only gonna give two recommendations this time: Kid Creole and the Coconuts - Stool Pigeon Oasis - Whatever So yeah, get a-dibzzin |

Oasis
Sounds like an acoustic guitar, and now it is joined by a piano and violins. Now drums and vocals come in. This is definately Oasis. He's "freeeeeeeeeeeeee". I like this song so far. It is about a minute in. The second verse is similar structure-wise to the first. The chorus doesn't really have a hook, but is nice nonetheless. About 2 minutes in and there is a instrumental part for about 15 seconds. Now some lo-fi vocals come and the song begins to take on a different feel. It calms down again around 2:45 and it goes back to the structure from the beginning. This is a nice song so far. Now a different version of the chorus with the "whatever you say I know it's alright" part. About 3:40 into the song and there is a nice guitar solo. Now it is joined by the violin. About 4:30 in and some clapping joins the instrumental part. Still no return of the vocals. The song seems to be coming back down now. The violins take center stage here for about a minute. And well I guess this is live because now there is cheering and that's it. 8.5/10 I liked it. moonbabies-happy when smile
in the beginning of the song some drums start off the song. it is a really nice way to start off a song and it is some pretty nice drum work by the way. a few seconds later the guitar and vocals join in while the drums still continue. the guitar is rather simplistic but it works real well. then there is a little break where the drums continure but the rest of the band stops for a little bit of keyboard action. this happens a few times actually throughout the song. it starts to happen more often later on in the song. about two minutes into the song everything changes. it sounds like something breaks. and there is always this little noise i cant really tell what it is. and the whole band seems to switch their sound for a minute. about 3 minutes you can hear wolves howling it sounds like. and a great bass line. then there comes in what sounds kind of like a middle eastern style guitar work. the vocals here are really different from the rest of the song they seem to echo more (if that makes any sense). overall i thought the song was pretty good the only thing i didnt really like was the fact that the vocals throughout the song seemed to be rather repitive. 7/10 God speed you black emperor- sad mafioso jesus lizard-gladiator keller williams-kidney in a cooler velvet underground-i'm waiting for the man |

Velvet Underground - I'm waiting for the man
i've heard some velvet underground before, but not that much. starts off with a steady drumbeat and what sounds like a piano accompanying the drumming. guitar comes in and it all comes together. pretty simple beat. The singer starts singing; his voice isnt that bad, but i still cant really tell what he's singing about, plus, the reason why im not a huge fan of this, or most punk for that matter, is the singing. He's not really singing, its more like talking. The beat or anything hasnt changed yet and its more than halfway through. Singer sings some more. I get a little more tired. Oh oh, i can hear a little riff in there. Now the piano is hammering out some more noise than before. Oh, the song's over. Ok. Not my cup o' tea at all, i'm sorry. It just didnt feel like it had much substance to it. 3/10 tool - H. Dishwalla - Charlie Brown's Parents 5:17
This song sounds strangly familier, I'm sure there's another song just like this, ah I just got it. This song sounds like Radiohead's Creep, I'm expectimg a distorted riff soon. I was right but seriously this riff is really cool. The stacato ska riffs after is also quite enjoyable as well. That type of distortion and high register playing is defintley one of my favorite things to hear in a song like this. The vocals are okay, I get the whole I'm talking to Charlie Brown's parents line (insert trumpet playing here). I don't really dig the rest of the song I think it has bored me, the singing and guitar is very cliche at the moment like something I would here on the radio. Overall the song started interesting and became boring, it should have been shorter 7/10 Okay XTC - Life Begins At The Hop (New Wave) Olivia Tremor Control - A Familiar Noise (Art Pop) Mission of Burma - The Ballad of Johnny Burma (Indie) |

Ive got a live version of the XTC song, i hope they are good live:evil:
*Crowd cheers* Drum beat starts with bass line joining, and now theres a guitar(s). Its very 'kick out the jams' so far. Vocals arent bad and the musicianship so far is pretty tight. Not too sure about that chorus, it had a very early rock progression to it....and the vocalist is losing it slightly, but he sounds like he's putting some energy into it. Chorus again now 'what do you say..' Cool guitar solo, very reverby...this is the best part of the song...and back into the chorus again, its getting better. On disk i can see me digging this a little more, but its just not hitting me the way it should. A kinda interlude now, which sounds good and into the chorus again. Kudos to the harmonies because they sound shit hot for a live band. Nice outro there too, they are very tight, but the music did not grasp me really. My rating is 6.5/10.
