Major General Despair 07-02-2005 10:43 AM
I think Dropdead was the only LP they made or something?
Yeah, they recorded 9 songs and broke up. Think they reformed for a bit in 92 with Seth Putnam, but it didn't last long, or something.

JAtomic probably knows more than me, hehe. J, do you ever listen to Jellyroll Rockhead? Good Japanese thrash band.

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 10:45 AM

Speaking of Seth Putnam, I heard he committed suicide. Can anyone confirm this?

sounds inetersting, ill have to look into that. although like i said, i may be wrong about the Siege split. i'd have to look around, but i remember seeing one somewhere. but for now, lets keep it at the LP, and if i find that split again, we'll all rejoice

i hope so

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 10:49 AM

You don't like Anal Cunt JAtomic?

Major General Despair 07-02-2005 10:51 AM

A friend tells me there is a bootleg that's a split with Deep Wound, with Walls, Sad but True, and Cold War on it.

Feel The Darkness 07-02-2005 10:53 AM

wow, that sounds interesting, if anyone gets there hands on a copy (digital or physical) pass on the goodness :thumb:

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:03 AM

Why do you hate Anal Cunt so much JAtomic?

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:04 AM

It's a split with Deep Wound, who was around about 1 year or so before Siege and from the same area. They pretty much invented the blast beat. They're not purely grind, but some raging hardcore. I have some on SlSk, if you have it.

Also, like someone else said, Blood Brother aren't grind AT ALL. They're not even hardcore.

My favorite "grind" bands are:

Yacøpsæ
Crossed Out
Siege
Despise You
Hellnation
Birdflesh
Cripple Bastards
Active Minds
Orchid
Electro Hippies
Lärm

probably some other stuff too

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:05 AM

Orchid and Cripple Bastards are awesome.

Scabies 07-02-2005 11:06 AM

Orchid are grind?!

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:07 AM

emoey powerviolence, hence my "s around grind.

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:07 AM

No, they are screamo.

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:08 AM

No.

Scabies 07-02-2005 11:10 AM
emoey powerviolence, hence my "s around grind.
Yeah thats what i thought, so seeing them labelled as grind confused me. I get it now :p

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:13 AM

I'm pretty sure they are screamo.

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:16 AM

They get called screamo or even emo violence but I don't think that accurately describes their music. They don't sound like Raein or Saetia or anything ("screamo") and emo violence I don't even think one could consider a subgenre. I choose to call them powerviolence because I think that best describes them. It really isn't important though cos they rule.

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:18 AM

Saetia isn't really screamo though, they don't go chaotic but once in a while. Screamo is supposed to be chaotic. Orchid is pretty chaotic.

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:20 AM

I dunno about that, bra.

Some Siege songs for you.

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:27 AM

Thanks for the Siege songs, they are really good.

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:29 AM

Oh, and to clarify about Siege and any releases they had, they had 0 releases. They released three songs, "Cold War," "Sad but True" and "Wall," on a compilation called Cleanse the Bacteria which is the only official release they ever did. They recorded a demo tape with their other 6 songs on it. They broke up some time after that, and the tape got bootlegged as a 7" called Drop Dead, probably from the first name. Thier three songs from that comp. also got bootlegged as a split 7" with Deep Wound. Relapse remastered the songs in 1994 or something and released it as a CD. Last year Deep Six released it as an LP. Like Major General Despair said, they reformed briefly in the early 90s with Seth Putnam on vocals instead of Kevin Mahoney. It all fell apart and probably for the better.

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:40 AM

Speaking of Seth Putnam, has anyone heard his joke black metal band Impaled Northern Moonforest? It's pretty funny stuff.

Toe Rag 07-02-2005 11:42 AM

Yeah, I love the cover and track names.

Oh, and no I'm pretty sure he didn't commit suicide. He was in a comma for like 3 months or something but I heard he's out of it now. You could probably check out his website. http://www.sethputnam.com/

much thx for that. :thumb:

and im pretty sure ive gotten stuff off of ye before on slsk. though ye always have huge queues. oh well.

oh and Retired, about AC...i just can't stand them. i had class with the singer from a local grindcore band, and he was obsessed with that band, so he'd always be playing em. and i just never liked em, so hearing em most of that semester just enhanced my hate for em...

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:44 AM

The track names are hilarious. I lol'd the first time I read the one about the moon goat and the necrowizard.

RetiredAt21 07-02-2005 11:45 AM

I've been checking up on Seth's site for awhile now, and that thing about him coming out of a coma is REALLY old. He hasn't updated in months.

I wasn't aware of its oldness. For what its worth, I'm pretty sure he was alive in May, cos I was talking to Dave Witte with some other kids and Anal Cunt came up. I asked if Seth is a big *** hole and didn't say anything about him being dead. A lot can happen in two months, though.
